Entertaining book, but I think it would work better on the screen than it does on pages. So many of the situations lend themselves to sight gags and double-takes that are lost without the visuals.
I really enjoyed Jason’s struggles during the story. He is an absolute dream of a geek in the best possible way! Learning from the ultimate Casanova can only improve his chances of love. I received an ARC from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.
I love time travel books but this one was so simple. Jason Tryon is broken up with by his very temporary girlfriend until he gets his best friend to go with him to Eataly. He meets a girl on the plane and when she calls him him and his best friend decide to split up when he meets an elderly lady on the train she tells him where he could stay when he gets off the train the landlord is there in his motorboat while going across the canal he doesn’t duck in his head hit the bridge and he goes underwater he gets pulled out of the canal by Casanova , when his manservant Giuseppe tells Jason he’s in the 1700s he has a little apprehension but not as much as you would think. Jason is girl crazy in despite being in the era where men and women had to be introduced to each other by a mutual party never wants does Casanova tell Jason Deas and hills practice of just walking up to girls on the street is A-OK to everyone involved. Even when he walks up to the French and Bassett or‘s daughter not only that it’s the 1700s in yet there’s a girl around Jason Dage that Casanova gets him to practice kissing. There’s a lot in this book you would have to suspend believe to make the story even plausible I was so disappointed because I look so forward to reading this. I received this book from NetGalley and the publisher but I am leaving this review voluntarily please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.
I would have used this one in my classroom, but there are a few situations that are just too mature for me to feel comfortable presenting my students (eg, 18th century condoms made of sheepskin). However, it's a cute read for fans of time-travel books, young adult / coming of age stories, or just historic fiction fans. The premise hasn't been done to death, and with parental permissions (or acknowledgement of mature scenes), I have a few kids in mind who would like reading this one.
This book is funny and delightful! Jason Tryon is a mess but endearing, full of heart, enthusiasm, and optimism. He learns his lessons of romance, endures disappointments, and bounces back to try another day. And what a mind and attitude he has! I spent a lot of time snickering, chortling, and full out laughing at his misadventures.
