Breaking All the Rules by Amy Andrews is a delightful rom-com that will keep you smiling from start to finish. The chemistry between Beatrice and Austin is electric, and their playful banter adds a fun twist to the story. If you’re looking for a heartwarming and humorous read, this book is a perfect choice! 📚💖
Wow this one was HOT! Loving the age gap vibe of this one. I mean the two characters chemistry and the banter was so palpable and leapt off the pages. I really enjoyed everything about this book. There was so much more emotion added to this rom com. It was relatable, funny. romantic, dramatic, and everything else that you could want when grabbing a rom com to read. I can't wait to read more from this author.
Breaking All The Rules is all about going against the rules to find your own happiness. It begins when ad exec Beatrice Archer throws a dart at a map and moves to Credence, Colorado. She is determined to get out of the rat race of LA and to get away from people who will never respect her. She also wants to get away from all the rules she has forced herself to follow and spends her day in Colorado binging television shoes, eating pie whenever she pleases, and drinking beer for breakfast. She discovers just how comfortable sweatpants are; and finds the perfect distraction and ally in local cop Austin Cooper.
This book is such a good time! While Bea thinks that breaking the rules is answer to all of her problems, that is only the beginning of her journey. She is on path to self discovery and realizing that all the bumps along the way are just a part of life. One of these unexpected bumps comes in the form of Austin. Their first meeting is such a meet-cute moment - even if he does put her in a jail cell! Right from that first meeting, he is beyond enthralled with Bea even when she hasn't showered in days and is eating ice cream in her bunny slippers. I loved them together.
Part of Bea's growth as a character is finally figuring out exactly what she wants. Even though she's determined to break all the rules, there is still a strong pull to who she was before and what she thought she wanted to accomplish. She also finds herself questioning her relationship with Austin because there is an age gap between them. Actually, she doesn't just question it, she obsesses over it and finds herself believing that she is a bad influence and that he would be better without her. That was a little annoying but also easy to understand as you get to know the character of Bea more. I loved that although Austin may have been hurt by some of Bea's actions, he never fully gave up on her.
Breaking All The Rules is set in the small town of Credence, Colorado which is not a new setting for author Amy Andrews but you don't have to be familiar with it to enjoy it. It is such a welcoming little town with residents who embrace new comers with a smile. Plus, it appears to have the most delicious pie! Each time Bea described a piece of pie that she was trying, I wanted to try it too. I could definitely see myself living in Credence, befriending Bea and Austin, and being the one to help pet sit their adorable snaggletooth cat named Princess. I hope we see them appear in another one of the books that are set in Colorado.
Steamy, delicious rom-com, a definite must-read
This book will go down in my memory as one of the very best rom-coms that I have ever read! If you are looking for a well-written and plotted rom-com with meaningful highs and crushing lows, you need to read this book. The steamy scenes and those moments leading up to them, are numerous and very literally moving. You know there needs to be a literary conflict but it hurt when the inevitable happened. Her humor will cause spontaneous laughing-out-loud. Ms. Andrews is an author to put on my must-read list for sure.
Beatrice Archer aka Bea is fed up with LA and the male dominated business where she was working. She gives up that life for a quiet little town of 2,134 people named Credence, Colorado. When 35yo Bea meets 25yo police officer Austin Cooper, all bets are off. Their meet-cute will be remembered. Period. Lots of OMG moments: learning how to lay down rubber with her car; his eating pie from her fingers; imagining the ad campaign she would write for Austin’s scent; and there are many more…
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through Entangled/NetGalley and it should get ten-stars.
This book was super fun at the start but then the whole demeanor changes along with Bea and she became someone who I didn't really like. The dynamic of fun and flirty was there in the beginning but tapered off. I wanted to love it but just couldn't.
This is my first ready by Amy Andrews and I was not disappointed at all! I thoroughly enjoyed this read. It was a super quick and fun rom-com with laugh out loud moments. Loved the setting in Colorado!
I definitely need to check out more by Amy Andrews.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Another good read
Perfect book to curl up with and to get lost in
Will have you hooked from the first page
Thanks NetGalley
'Breaking All the Rules' is by far my favourite Amy Andrews book of all time.
I wasn't sure at first, considering Bea gave me all the icky vibes of a dirty frat boy,
But it didn't take long, a chapter or two, and I was absolutely smitten with every single character.
The puns had me laughing out loud and the sex had me blushing like a schoolgirl.
My favourite scene - Bea and Austin's first kiss - Pie and all!!!
This book is really cute and it is set in a small town in Colorado.
You got a cop, a runaway woman, and an age gap.
Bea and Austin got it!
Austin is the total opposite of Bea and like Paula Abdul said..… “opposites attract”. (She said it not me)
This is my first Amy Andrews read and it will not be my last.
The author took a lost woman who missed out on so much in life and gave her life back! The epilogue warmed my heart!
Ps..… now I need to watch Supernatural! WWDWD 🙌
I absolutely adored this book! The story was excellent and the characters were so easy to fall in love with! I will highly recommend this to everyone I know!
if i were going to be honest, i really didn’t like this book.
nothing angers me more than a miscommunication trope. i mean i guess the trope itself is fine *when* executed well— but in this case, it wasn’t.
i didn’t entirely hate it. but there wasn’t really anything that i loved about it aside from the setting.
Breaking All The Rules

Amy’s writing is a breath of fresh air! I adored reading about Beatrice Archer. She is the heroine in us all!
After leaving a high stress corporate job, thirty something year old Bea throws a dart at a map and stumbles onto and into small town Credence, Colorado. She leaves behind everything bringing only her sweats, a laptop to binge watch Supernatural and a penchant for beer for breakfast.
As Bea gets to know her new town she meets a cast of characters but none more noteworthy than twenty something, small town officer Austin Cooper. Bea’s only plan is NOT to make plans, especially not with a ten years her junior small town cop.
This novel has a perfect amount of spice and had me laughing multiple times. I found Andrews writing similar to Abbey Jiminez (who is one of my favorites, so this is the highest of compliments).
Most definitely recommend this for a fun, light hearted, laugh out loud romantic comedy!

I absolutely loved Bea's character at the start of this book, and was 100% loving where this story was taking me...then the author decided to change almost everything about the book.
The setting, Bea's personality & job, even the romance, as you may imagine this changed my feels towards the book.
I would still suggest it if for no other reason than I want your thoughts.
I just would have preferred the small town setting romance without all the flashy changes.
Small town setting with pie? That was pretty idyllic.
I will say, Mia Barron is a fabulous narrator and I look forward to finding more projects she was in on.
Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing, LLC for an e-ARC of this novel in exchange for a review.
I enjoyed this book! It was a fast paced read for me. Loved the main character. She was pretty relatable, since she was going through a turning point in her life. Also loved her give no F’s attitude. Patient male lead who wasn’t toxic. 🙌 This book had me laughing at many points, and I smiled giddily at the banter between the two main characters. I am excited to read more from this author.
I received an advance copy of Breaking All The Rules by Amy Andrews from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review and opinions. I loved everything about this book - such a fun read. I truly can't wait to read more books by Amy Andrews.
Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC! I enjoyed this book greatly. The characters were engaging, witty, and charming. OH and incredibly sexy!
Will definitely be recommending this to my friends.
This is a good book. The two main characters are Bea and Austin. Bea has quit her job in advertising and found her way to Austin’s hometown. Austin is a police officer. There is an instant attraction. They start going out on dates. Bea gets an email from a former coworker asking her to join her company as a creative. They both have issues but together they work them out and fall in love.
In Breaking All The Rules by Amy Andrews, we meet Bea. What a character! She would much rather not follow rules and gives "no forks" about it either. Along comes Officer Austin, who is younger and totally smitten with the bunny slipper clad Bea. They make a cute couple and I laughed out loud several times. Definitely a fun beach read!
Bea lost her chance for promotion yet again and she decided to quit. Being so disappointed with herself, she throws a dart on a world map, and it landed in Credence, Colorado. She spends her time doing nothing bingeing on eating and drinking, something she would not imagine herself to do before. Austin, the deputy police turned up after someone lodge a complaint on a “strange women”. Seeing her, Austin is attracted to her despite their age gap. He tried to help her on her list. Overtime, their relationship turned from being an acquaintance, to a friend and lover with benefit.
It is a flirty yet fun story about a couple with age gap between them in a small town. It is a story how one deemed success is just like Beatrice and Austin and life balance. Austin is my ultimate book boyfriend. I love for his patience with Bea and his confidence with himself and the way he handled the situation. He also bring out in Beatrice. Overall it is a fun read to me.
