5 people, 2 end up dead.. but who killed them? This read had me hooked as I love a book with multiple POV’s, and I also enjoy a good who done it.

This was a fun translation from the Swedish edition.
Told from three people’s perspectives, this story begins with the discovery of what appears to be a dual murder. The timeline is split (narrative in the past that tells the story, mixed with excerpts from police interviews after the bodies are discovered). Over time, the reader learns how the perspectives are related.
What I liked—there was a lot of intrigue throughout about how everyone knew each other (or whether they did). There was also a lot of shady behavior happening that I was certain would result in some drama.
What I didn’t love—I find that in Nordic noir translations that I’ve read, the action is less intense than in US-based thrillers. Much less confrontation, much less violence openly written about. I was very much hoping for some serious action, along with an accusatory confrontation. And it fell flat for me. I also feel like there were some parts that could have been explored further to add to the suspense/background/drama. The characters themselves were both hit and miss for me. Karla? Love her and her personal growth. Bill? Everyone has their demons. Gina? I wish we knew more about her.
Overall, a good book and a pleasant read.

This was an addicting book with great dialogue! It builds slowly but you are able to pick up on little things along the way making it one you won't want to put down.

Looking forward to starting this thriller over the summer! Thank you so much @celadonbooks and @bookishfirst for the Advanced copy! I may be the only person who hasn’t read A Nearly Normal Family, but I have certainly read all the praise for it. I’m looking forward to diving into his latest book, the first one written in English and not translated !

Summary: Bill Olsson, recently widowed, is desperate to provide for his daughter, Sally. Struggling to pay rent, he welcomes a lodger into their home: Karla, a law student and aspiring judge, who works as a housekeeper to make ends meet. Her clients are the Rytters, an incredibly wealthy couple who hide behind closed doors. The wife is ill and hasn’t left the house in months. The husband is controlling and obsessive. Is he just a worried husband, concerned for his wife’s health? Or is there something more sinister at play?
As Bill’s situation becomes more dire, Karla is forced to make a difficult choice. And when the Rytters wind up dead, and Karla is pulled in for questioning, she’s made to defend some parts of her past she’d rather not revisit.

Two murders…a suspect who seems guilty…but is it more than that?
This book was a total page turner that I talked to numerous friends about while I was reading it because I couldn’t wait to find out what happened.
Told by three perspectives, Bill, Karla, and Jennica, this story unfolds into a mystery that you think you have figured out, but I’m guessing you won’t be right!
When his family is struggling to make ends meet, what lengths will Bill go to to help make his situation better? And how far will his friend Karla go to help him out? Read this book to find out, and you’ll be glad you did!
I got to read an ARC of this book from NetGalley and the publisher, and I am so happy I got it in exchange for my honest opinion/review.

The Woman Inside is a fast paced, captivating book that starts out with a couple being murdered. The book goes between the view points of Bill, Karla, and Jennica. Each one of them maybe the murder and the author does a good job of keeping the reader on their toes until the very end. I did feel like the end wasn’t as smooth as the rest but still a good read.

M.T. Edvardsson's "The Woman Inside" was not as interesting to me as his previous book; "A nearly Normal Family". That being said I did enjoy the intrigue and the character descriptions - if only they hadn't all been so unlikable!
The book opens with a double murder in an expensive villa in Lund, Sweden. It is pretty obvious from the beginning that the murderer(s) should be found among a small group of people, thrown together by circumstance. All of them has their own flaws and baggage, and a tendency to make the wrong choices every time! It makes it difficult to really care what will happen to any of them, and the reveal of the murders fall a little flat at the end.
Thank you NetGalley for the chance to listen to and review this book..

The Rytters are a wealthy couple found dead in their mansion. The husband is a handsome pediatrician who is controlling of his ill wife who never leaves the house. Bill and his daughter Sally are struggling to get by after his wife dies. They take in a lodger named Karla to make ends meet. Karla is a law student who cleans houses on the side. She is the Rytters house cleaner. Soon Bill and Karla are pulled in for questioning of the double murder. Who did it and why?
Honestly I was very meh about this one. It was a little slow and the characters are all unlikable. I did like the interview parts and how it slowly came together with all involved but the characters are not deep at all. It was hard to empathize with any of them except little Sally. I did not figure out the ending in advance but I didn’t really care who did it in the end. I loved his previous book but this was not as well executed.
Thanks to @netgalley and @celadonbooks for an arc for an honest review.

This thriller takes readers into the lives of a handful of individuals who are connected to a wealthy couple, the Rytters, who are murdered in an upscale neighborhood. The story is told from different perspectives and the various threads are untangled with each chapter.
I loved the way this story spooled out - interwoven with the events leading up to the crime from their different POV are police interrogation tapes with all the suspects, so you get lots of different sources of information. It's a bit of a slow burn as we learn how interwoven these characters are and learn all the secrets they are keeping. And that ending - you won't see it coming

This book started off confusing with all the characters and storylines but once I took notes I was able to keep track. I really liked the story and how it all came together.

It starts off with the discovery of two bodies in a house.
Who did it?
* The mistress
* The house cleaner
* The widower
I love the format of the book. It goes between the police interviews, and the three suspects listed above.
It is a character driven novel, and a very enjoyable read.
I have added her previous novel A Nearly Family to my Tbr list.
Thank you to @celadonbooks and @netgalley for the Arc.
This was mystery thriller was published June 12, 2023.

A creepy and atmospheric puzzle of a story that draws you in but could stand to be a bit shorter.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to read and review.

📚 Book Review 📚 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Woman Inside by Mattias Edvardsson
Karla desperately needs to be away from her toxic mother and a new place to stay while trying to pave her own future. Struggling widower/single father, Bill needs money to support him and his daughter so he decides to rent out a room to make ends meet. Steven is leading a double life while his bed ridden wife is stuck in her room. Everyone is hiding something but who killed the rich family and why?!
Very interesting and fast read as the chapters were short (which I love) and it’s told from multiple points of view and very character driven. You find yourself questioning if you should like this person or not, feel sorry for them or hope they get what’s coming. The story was set in Sweden so it was interesting to learn new things about the country while wrapped up in a mystery.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC! Book was released on June 13! #NetGalley #mtedvardsson #thewomaninside

I read Edvardsson's previous book, A Nearly Normal Family, not long ago, and found it fascinating. So I was happy to have the opportunity to read this, his newest US release, and I wasn't disappointed. Like the first book, this is set in Lund, Sweden. At the beginning of the audiobook, Edvardsson himself tells us it's a story inspired by a news story about "family tragedy", a term used in Sweden to describe family murder-suicides. What follows is a book told from three points of view - those of Bill, Karla and Jennica. I really enjoyed the way Edvardsson lets the story unfold, gradually showing us how the lives of these three people come to intersect, gradually telling their backgrounds and secrets dreams for the future - and revealing the lies they've told themselves and each other. I really enjoyed the way he wove all these elements together. I also very much enjoy his window into Swedish life and the law.
The audio version of this book is excellent, with three narrators, all of whom do a very good job of making us feel the characters' growing frustrations and desperation, without being over the top.
Thanks to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for providing a copy for an unbiased review.

This is my first book by this author which I enjoyed reading. The suspense brings the story to another level for sure. This is a well written story that has twists and turns that not only had me sitting on the edge of my seat but coming back for more. I enjoyed how the author used details to make the story realistic and added to the stories entertainment value for sure. it is a story that kind of has alot going on but the author did a great job of keeping up with the characters and what they were doing. The characters pulled me into their world with ease and kept me there until the end. They are strong, supportive characters that made the story easy to read and hard to put down. I enjoyed watching the growth of the plot throughout the story. This is a fast paced story that is engaging and will keep you turning pages fast. I really enjoyed reading this book and I look forward to seeing what is next for this author. I highly recommend this book.

A Riveting Page-Turner!
M. T. Edvardsson writes a chilling and thrilling tale with The Woman Inside. I haven't read anything by this author before, and what a hidden gem. I enjoyed it so much, that I have now followed the author and look for more books to read. I have just become a big fan of M. T. Edvardsson and read whatever this author writes. This author has a grand imagination, and talent for showing the story. The reader is introduced to Bill and his daughter, Sally, a man doing his best to provide for her. He rents a room to Karla, who works for a wealthy couple, the Rytters. She's a housekeeper by night, and law student by day. Bill will do whatever he can, but he isan't always able to provide the money his family needs, and he's still reeling from losing his wife. Then, comes more drama. Karla's clients are murdered. It seems that once the police start investigating, every person is investigated, and of course, everyone is hiding secrets. Secrets always have a way of getting out, especially when you least want them to. The chemistry between the characters is not forced, but seemed to tell a story of its own. This is one of those books that grabs you from the start and pulls you in. The reader just embarks on a superb journey. This is a magnificent plot that kept this reader turning the pages. The author's technique of raw, magnetic characters and great plotlines is a gift. A very unpredictable story, my favorite kind! Karla is a formattable character, and makes the story her own. A genuine character driven story! The Woman Inside is a definite recommendation by Amy's Bookshelf Reviews. I read this book to give my unbiased and honest review. Amy's Bookshelf Reviews recommends that anyone who reads this book, to also write a review.

The Woman Inside is told in multiple points of view, through the eyes of Bill, Karla and Jennica. The story starts immediately with a couple found murdered in their home. This story is very character driven as we learn about these three characters, their life, their involvement with each other and also the couple.

This is the definition of a slow burn popcorn thriller. Being that this one was so character driven, this definitely felt like it dragged on at parts. I loved the segments where we read witness statements, newspaper clippings, even police reports, I'm a huge sucker for some epistolary writing styles. The characters, well they were okay to me, they honestly weren't all that likeable. Bill seemed like a big old weeny that was always used to being catered to. Jennica - that woman irked my soul with herself righteousness even though she was 30 and still didn't have a job. Karla was the only one (besides Sally) that I felt any kind of connection to. The fact she worked her butt of, would do anything for people she cared about and her determination to become a judge was really fun to watch throughout this read.

I will say that this one kept my attention, I liked the little pieces of information that were given in order to keep you reading. One of the twists I was easily able to call from the start of the book, but the execution was there. The final twist was one that I was satisfied with, though it wasn't anything overly shocking. This isn't one of those "thrilling" novels, so those of you who are looking to start to get into mystery/thrillers this would be a good one to start with.

I was able to listen to this one and read the physical copy. This one had a full cast (my favorite!). Josh Dylan, Nathalie Buscombe and Sofia Engstrand really made this book for me! They kept my interest, and they were a huge huge huge help with pronunciations of the names of the characters and of the places. They depicted these characters perfectly.

Overall, this was an average run of the mill popcorn thriller that is more on the character driven side. Recommending this one to all my friends that are fans of popcorn thrillers/ character driven novels. The Woman Inside was just released last week on 6/13. Huge thank you to @netgalley, @celadonbooks, @macmillinaudio and M. T. Edvardsson for the ALC and eARC in exchange for my honest review.

This was a suspenseful read that was a tad bit slow. There were multiple POVs which was great but sometimes a little confusing. The plot was easy enough to follow and enjoyed how events built upon one another. It picked up about the halfway mark and had a so-so ending.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of this title.
I really enjoyed the way the mystery was presented, with multiple points of view mixed in with police interrogations. It was a really quick read and completely held my attention. 4.5 stars rounded down. Would have liked a better insight into the murdered couples relationship.

Thank you NetGalley and Celadon books for approving me to read this book. It was a great Scandi noir thriller. It was told by three points of view and numerous police interviews. It told how the three people Karla, Bill and Jennica's lives were interconnected. It 's all about good people doing bad things and bad people doing worse things. All three were deeply flawed and had secrets. I enjoyed the book very much - could have had a better ending but it was a good read, held my interest from start to finish. I would definitely recommend it.
