Farrah never meant to fall for Blake, and he certainly didn’t mean to fall back. But when they meet during their year studying abroad in Shanghai, the two find chemistry that is hard to deny. In the end, however, it might not be enough.
I was enjoying this book until the end. Everything ended so abruptly, and without anything resolved, the story simply feels unfinished. I was expecting at least an epilogue, so I was really disappointed - now I realize it’s not a standalone, so it’s not as terrible as I thought, and I guess I have more reading to do!
I enjoyed the spice level and the friend group and studying abroad setting of the story, but it was overshadowed by Blake’s actions and decision to keep the truth from Farrah.
Overall, I enjoyed listening - the narrators were great, but I wish I knew there was a sequel before I started!

The setting for this book is probably one of my favorites from Ana's books. I love the culture and the atmosphere and how Shanghai felt like another character.
I liked the side characters. They were fun to read and enriched the story.
Now the romance... that was my least favorite thing. It felt rushed and the ending and especially the "main" conflict was predictable and to be honest I wished it was different because I (personally) don't like to think my hero was cheating on the heroine. Especially when it felt kinda out of character of him.
Overall this was a fun sweet read.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
After Blake Ryan chooses to walk away from football he chooses to escape to Shanghai and study abroad for a change of pace. What he doesn't plan on is falling for another student studying abroad. Blake cannot get Farrah out of his head, and he tries to not be drawn into her orbit, but he does fall for her and when their year of studying aborad is over, will they survive?
I really enjoyed this book, and while it did not end on a cliffhanger, I wanted to listen to the next book right away! I really enjoyed both of the characters! This was my first Ana Huang book and I will definitely be reading more! I highly recommend this one for readers over 18!
I love Ana and her writing style and this was my first audio of hers. The narrators were good not my favorite to tell this story. It would have been more enjoyable read to me.
It did take me a couple of tries for me to finally finish this book. The banter between Farah and Blake was entertaining. And the romance was ultimately filled with a bittersweet angst that's relatable to a reader. Oh, and hooray for Asian rep
I understand this is Ana’s earlier work, so the overall tone was a bit different. The story was an average read 3.5/5✨. High probability of continuing the series.
3.5 rounded up to 4 for good reads.
I enjoyed this audiobook! We have Fallon who is an inspiring Interior designer. Her and a handful of other Americans go to Shanghai for collage, and through this group Fallon meets Blake an ex highschool football star who is running from his life in Texas. After witnessing a bad accident on the field he decided he didn’t want to play foot ball anymore and his family never accepted it, he also left his long term girlfriend before moving to Shanghai that his family was disappointed he broke up with her. They had a plan for him and this wasn’t it, as he gets to know Fallon they can’t help but fall in love but he must leave her when something happens on his trip home. He doesn’t want to leave her and break her heart but he has no choice. She helps him understand who He really is in life and she had he wants to do with it, she supports him like no one else will. And he was her first and honestly the breakup was hard to read. I enjoyed the Shanghai setting, I also enjoyed getting to know Fallon and Blake. But it felt like it could of been a novella, it dragged on and their story continues in the next book 5 or so years later, I am looking forward to reading that story. I also wasn’t a big fan of the side characters in this novel they felt like a bratty And spoiled but that could be the age of them And the age of me. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this audiobook for review.
This was is a good book but a little sad to me. The writing was good and the narration brought everything to life. I can’t wait until the next part comes out.
Miss Ana Huang can do no wrong in my world. I can’t believe I had never read this series. I was so entranced with Blake and Farrah’s story and the cliffhanger that I immediately read the second book. I had to know how it ended for them. LOVE LOVE LOVE.
I really wanted to like this book. I got about 1/3 through the book and had to stop. It just didn't hold my attention unfortunately. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to listen to it.
Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of the audiobook.
3/5 stars
Farrah and Blake are both college students studying abroad in Shanghai. She’s an aspiring interior designer and he recently quit his college football team. The story opens with their breakup scene and then it goes back to when they originally meet. This book is a duology within a series so it’s a little hard to rate as we don’t have the full story yet. I thought the two main characters were cute together and I liked that they were both planning and exploring their individual futures. I had some frustrations with Blake in this book though but I’m still planning to read the next one to see what’s next for these two.
The audiobook is narrated by Cindy Kay and Aiden Snow. I’ve listened to a couple of books with Aiden Snow but this was my first one with Cindy Kay. I thought they both did a great job bringing the characters to life.
4⭐️
“Farrah had always equated the stars with love, which seemed as nebulous and out of reach as the diamonds in the sky. But as she stood there next to Blake, beneath the infinite skies of a foreign land, the stars felt a little closer.”
God I loved this book… and I am so hurt by this haha. From the first chapter (and the synopsis) its obvious this is not an HEA. WELL I obviously didn’t get that point so I WAS HEARTBROKEN by the ending! But rest assured this is a duology and I am excited to see where the story goes! (SPOILER) But I am not 100% sure if I’ll ever be able to forgive Blake.
If We Ever Meet Again revolves around Farrah and Blake. Two complete opposites from different worlds that are both studying abroad in Shanghai, and only have one year together. We get to experience a true love story and friendship. With this romance set in Shanghai there is an excellent cultural element to this book. The details of the scenery and FOOD was so well done and rich in detail. Ana Huang has a beautiful way with words and I haven’t read a book from her that has felt lacking in the writing. This is also Ana Huang’s debut book!
If you have read anything from Ana Huang you know she writes spicy scenes well. I initially thought that this story was going to be different from her Twisted series and there might not be any spicy BUT I WAS WRONG. The sex scenes in here and fantastic, the level of communication is so well done! Farrah is a virgin so there is a lot of dialogue about it being her first time and being comfortable. If you do not like detailed sex scenes I would avoid this story.
I received an audiobook version and liked both the narrators! I especially liked the narrator for Farrah, Cindy Kay. She was very expressive and didn’t sound like someone reading a script. I hope the same narrators are used for the next book.
This story is predictable, simply because after the first chapter we are transported to the beginning of their relationship. Even though we know how things will end, it’s hard to not root for the couple and wish for something different. If you want a slow burn steamy romance with dual POV this is for you! But remember that this is a duology and this book does not have an HEA.
Thank you NetGalley and Tantor Audio for an advanced audio copy for an honest review.
I was aware this was a duet before I listened to it. I enjoyed this book a lot. I love the build up of Blake and Farrah's friendship and relationship. I also understood the ending of it too. The side characters and all of their relationships was entertaining. I'm curious to see what happens next for everyone.
I hadn't realized that this book was the beginning of a series and would end with a cliffhanger, which was a bit disappointing. I enjoyed it enough that I'm interested to see how the story continues. Excited to read other books by this author.
Wow this book broke my heart. It started with heart break and ended with heart break and now I’m hooked. I had to find the second book to find out what happens to Farrah and Blake. I wish the next one was in audiobook format because I also really enjoyed the narrators for this novel.
I was able to listen to the audiobook of this one thanks to NetGalley. I’ve never read anything by Ana Huang but have heard wonderful things and have been looking forward to starting some of her books. It was also the first romance novel I’ve ever listened to on audiobook. It took a little to get used to a male voice (all the other books I’ve ever heard were female narrators and not dual POV).
Reading about Farrah and Blake’s study abroad and their budding romance made me feel like I was right in Shanghai with them. It’s a part of the world I’ll probably never witness, and it was enjoyable to get a little taste.
I was in tears by the end. I immediately went hunting for book two. I wish I could listen to that one too, but I found it on kindle unlimited, so that’ll be a must soon.
I am a fan of Ana Huang’s writing and this book is no exception! I got wrapped up in the character’s lives and was sad when the book ended. I did feel like the book ended abruptly, but I can hardly wait for the next book to find out what happens!
Farrah is a 19 year old virgin studying abroad in Shanghai. Blake is an ex football player who traded his father's dream of the NFL for his own dream to own a sport bar.
Neither are interested in anything with each other, they know it will just be trouble. Yet the two of them are drawn to each other .
I enjoyed this book, but really hate the cheating trope. Then on top of that, the pregnancy trope. . It just was a sad book that left me feeling low. But knowing that their story isn't over, and there is a another book about them does bring me joy.
The narrators were easy to listen to and engaging !
Thank you to @netgalley for the opportunity to listen to this book! I will post a review this week on Instagram!
Such a cute read! Ana never disappoints. Her writing is amazing, how she brings all the characters together is so cool to read. It's not a five star but, it's a 4.. her "new" ones are much an improvement and how she and her writing grew.
Ana Huang books have become an addiction I don't want to quit. If We Ever Meet Again made me smile, cry and love a story. I'll definitely continue reading her books.
My very first Ana Huang books and I really like it!
This book is an emotional roller coaster, it’ll give you all the sweet moments that made you smile so wide but also give you moments that will make you cry so hard.
It’s a very light and quick read. I was captivated by the world building set in Shanghai – with all the foods and unique places.
The characters are likeable, Farrah’s character is my favorite. I also love their friendship gang despite only knowing each other for a year. They had fun and made good memories. It reminds me of my own friends.
The story is told in dual POV from both main characters, I listen to the audio book version and I really like both narrators. They deliver the stories well, especially the female narrator for Farrah. She’s very expressive and she sounded just like a real-life Farrah would in my mind.
The last few chapters really breaks my heart, I cried a few times reading about Farrah and Blake.
I have to admit I feel so disappointed with Blake near the ending, I would probably do the same thing as Farrah if I’m in her shoes.
Overall, it’s a good love story filled with sweet, angst and spicy moments.
I really enjoy listening to every chapters and that heart-breaking cliff-hanger makes me want to read the next book.
