If We Ever Meet Again is a dual POV college romance about Blake and Farrah who are studying abroad. These two are fairly opposite, yet find themselves falling for each other anyway.

Farrah and Blake meet while they are both studying in Shanghai. The location made this story exciting and I loved all the elements Ana included. Farrah is an inspiring interior designer, while Blake is on a new path after abandoning his football plans. They eventually click as friends, which turns into more- even though they weren’t expecting it. There are family elements and other ties that influence their relationship that I’m especially excited to see in their next book. This one does not leave off on a cliffhanger, but it’s definitely not finished for these two in book one.

I have actually read Ana’s more recent books first, so I enjoyed going back to her start and seeing how far she has come. This story and characters are definitely different from her current works, but I enjoyed it all the same. It has her classic elements of unexpected feelings, good spice scenes, and cultural elements that are always refreshing to read in romance.

I listened to this story as an audiobook and I think the narrators did well. I am fairly picky with narrators and the female narrator specifically was new to me so I was nervous, but I enjoyed her. It adds another exciting element to the story and I hope to listen to the next book as an audiobook as well.

OK I need book 2 now! It can't end like that!
After hearing so much praise for Ana Huang's latest series I was excited to give this a try and I'm glad I did. I listened to the audio and i found the story easy to listen to and get lost in. I really enjoyed it. It was a good college romance with a loose dislike to friends to lovers story with a bit of drama to keep things interesting. I really enjoyed the characters of Farrah and Blake. The narrators did a great job in their portrayal of the characters. I have a little feeling about how book 2 will pan out and I hope I'm right. A very enjoyable story.

I am rating this book 3 stars ⭐⭐⭐

If We Ever Meet Again is the story of Blake, a cocky former athlete who has no shortage of women throwing themselves at him, and Farrah, who is a nerdy virgin not looking for a relationship. The story takes place mostly in Shanghai, and I thought the cultural element was authentic, different, and fun.

Some things I enjoyed about this book were the slow, organic way the friendship built up between Blake and Farrah. They both have some obvious feelings for each other, but neither throws themselves into it immediately. I enjoyed Blake's broodiness, and the secret pining element. I am also far enough removed from college to enjoy a story set in the throes of academia.

The spicy scenes were great and the chemistry was well-written.

I hated the cliffhanger, which is probably a popular complaint but not because I just wanted to know what happened next--because it really felt like the story just ended. SOME closure for this portion of the story would've been nice to get us to the next in the series.

I will definitely follow up with the series as it is published to see what happens in this story.

Thank you to NetGalley and Tantor Audio for giving me this eARC audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

If We Ever Meet Again is told from both Blake's and Farrah's perspectives. The American college students meet while studying abroad in Shanghai. They're opposites in many ways. She's a romantic interior designer (and still a virgin), while he "doesn't do" virgins and is a playboy who thinks love is a con.

Blake tries to resist her, but in the end, he can't help falling for Farrah. Their love is inevitable and their connection and chemistry were electric! Also, if you know Ana you know there's going to be spice and it doesn't disappoint. The other thing I loved about the book was the atmospheric Shanghai setting - Ana really transports the readers to Shanghai.

The ending was predictably heartbreaking so I'm so glad this is a duet and we get to see them reconnect in the future. Finally, the audiobook was fantastic (Aiden Snow never disappoints).

Spoilers ahead!!!

First thing first, I'm happy that this book is a duet. I enjoyed reading about how everything started.

The friendship group: I enjoyed the friendship group in this book and how they made the most of their study abroad semester. Getting to see the group come together, where they traveled, what they ate, knowing about everyone, who they are, how they supported one another, and much more. It was nice to see how they were adapting to their lives in Shanghai.

Blake: It was nice to see Blake unsure about what he wanted to do for the rest of his life, and when he figured out how he worked to make the dream come true even though he was scared. It was also great to see how he fell for Farrah and wanted to be near her, spending time studying, Watching her do what she loves, and much more.

Farrah: Josh from Twisted Hate is Farrah's cousin!! I love when authors write interconnected series. I wish we got to see Farrah in Josh's book( unless we did get a scene and I missed it). Plus the way Blake got Jealous for a second! EPIC!
I love that she was an interior designer and getting to see how she thinks and creates( I wanted to see the designs she made in real life). I enjoyed who she is as a person, her supportiveness, her being herself, and much more. I love the convo she had with her mom as well.

Blake and Farrah: It was great to see their relationship grow from strangers to friends to lovers. I liked how they challenged each other a bit and how they went from friends to lovers. Even when we get glimpses of them together and how they wanted to make sure they each were enjoying the moment and if they weren't what could they do better to help the other, how they spoke about everything and spend time with one another. Times when they weren't together how they wanted to be near each other. One of my favorite moments is the study session that they had and the group walk that they did.

Why I rated it 4.7 stars: It was the way the book ended. At first, this book was going to be a 4-star, but then they came back from spring break and everything that happened and got Farrah's pov and Blake's and saw their thoughts. I'm happy that Ana Haung didn't stop the book right after they broke up but we got to see how they were day by day. It was so emotional, and I got emotional.
Even when they broke up and it was their last day before they left Shanghai and they hugged one another and talked for a little. I love that even though they were broken up but you can still feel the pull.

Also, I'm so happy that Sammy got Blake to tell him what happened. Sammy is one of my favorite characters and I can't wait to see how he acts in book 2 when Blake is brought up in their convo with Olivia and Farrah since he knows the truth of why they broke up ( If we even get a scene with the three of them) and his romance with Olivia! <3.

The drama with his ex: When I tell you I was shocked. I was shocked but at the same time the Ex was acting off. Like if you reread the party scene and the hotel scene you can see her reactions in each scene as if she was planning something and was trying not to get caught.
One example is how she made him get drunk. It's like she wanted to get him drunk on purpose to play with him while she never drinks a sip of her drink. ( Maybe she took one shot at the start but the rest of the night she did not.)
I think she lied to Blake to 1. freak him out. 2. destroy his relationship. 3. She was mad he moved on and she still liked him.
I hope they didn't sleep together and she just placed herself in the scene to play him.

Thank you NetGalley and Ana Huang for the audiobook ARC of If We Ever Meet Again

I have to admit I got Ana Huang confused with the author of The Kiss Quotient series.

It was a very happy surpirse though. I throughly enjoyed If We Ever Meet Again. I found the setting very interesting. I have never read a novel set in a university in Shanghai before.

It is the first of Blake and Farrah's series so I found it to be a good introduction to the characters. I am looking forward to reading more about them.

I recently read and really enjoyed Ana Huang's 'Twisted Love,' so I was very excited to get an audio copy of 'If We Ever Meet Again.'

Spoiler-ISH Content to follow:

You know from the beginning of the book that this was not going to have a happy ending. I really thought maybe the conflict would be settled before the end of the book, but apparently there is a 'sequel' five years later- not a fan.

There were some tropes/storylines I REALLY didn't care for (look up other reviews for more spoilers).

I will continue to read this author, but this was notttttt my favorite.

Damn you Ana Huang!!! You are about to make an audiobook lover read an ebook just so she can get to the second book, because honestly? I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE NEXT BOOK!!!

This story was so good. It wasn’t as spicy as other Ana Huang books I’ve read but it was still sexy and the story was awesome. I loved that it was set in China and the characters were all so fun. I really got into the love story and I may have shed a few tears… AND THE CLIFFHANGER!? I need the next book now!

This was a sweet, fun read of two opposites attracting who meet abroad in Shanghai- becoming friends and then lovers, only to fall apart at the end. I enjoyed the relationship they built and how they really supported each other, but felt like their demise was due to poor decisions and miscommunication. ⁣

I am looking forward to the sequel, to read about their second chance because I did really adore Farrah and Blake together.⁣
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I'm so glad I had the opportunity to read Ana Huang's backlist or else I wouldn't have. I want more of this kind of story from Ana Huang. I absolutely loved Farrah and Blake's story. I had so much fun reading about their entertaining journey to HEA. It's so funny, witty and sweet. I can't wait to read the next book.

I enjoyed the story and loved the dual povs. It was a fun and light read however I did not connect with the characters, I felt them to be toxic at times and I did not enjoy the lead characters personalities.
The narrators were good and I understand that since the story had dual povs between a male and female, I just didn't enjoy switching from a male to a females voice as well as either of them trying to disguise their voices to fit the other gender.

If We Ever Meet Again is a slow burn romance. This writing is excellent with a wonderfully natural flow . The descriptions of Shanghai made me feel the wonder of a new city.

Farrah is an interior interior design major studying abroad in Shanghai for a year. She has a great circle of friends here. Who would have thought life would throw these incredible people into her life. Then Blake walks into her life. Well technically she walked into him. Blake is a former heisman collegiate football star who has quit football, and has escaped to Shanghai to finish college away from the media attention.
The love story of Farrah and Blake is a friends to lovers trope personified. They are able to get to steamy highs because their love and trust started with a strong foundation. Ultimately the timing seemed off for the second half of the book. Blake and Farrah's connection fizzles with dreaded miscommunication. The net galley description didn't mention a duet, so the cliffhanger ending was a shock.

The audiobook was well done. The narrators have great inflection and the tones for different characters was fantastic. I will be looking for the other books they have voiced.

This book had some really cute and spicy pieces as part of the romance but the ending was really predictable. This is part of a series so I’m thinking the next one will help build on this story but since I haven’t gotten there I have to base this review on only this book which is why it’s just getting an “ok” rating.

Also worth noting, I listened to the book via audio and didn’t love the narrator either. I thought the voice she used for the guys was really bad and the voice for the girl main a little annoying. I think it would have been better as 2 narrators. This also impacted my rating of the book because it was difficult to get through.

🌀Synopsis
Farrah and Blake are studying abroad in Shanghai for a year. Their group of friends is so close knit and has a ton of fun together. Without planning or really any forward thinking the two fall into a wild romance. Blake brings our Farrah’s wild side and Farrah helps Blake to be more confident in himself.
One trip back to the states for the holidays will change their relationship forever. Blake makes a huge mistake and the consequences catch up to him in a couple of months. They break up and throw themselves into their studies to avoid each other.
As the both prepare to go back home permanently, it’s clear even though he made poor choices Blake really does love Farrah he’s just unable to let her know.

After reading the Twisted series and the first book of the Kings of Sin series, I'm very familiar with Ana's writing. I really enjoyed this book! I listened to the audio version and I couldn't stop listening to it! Every time I have to pause it to do something, I kept thinking about what would happen next. Ana does such a good job of writing complex characters and this is especially true in this book. Blake is a particularly complex character who at times made me want to shake him because he was so frustrating, but that's how humans are and I think Ana portrays human nature very well. Looking forward to reading the next one!

I really wish I enjoyed this book as much as I thought I would.
I loved Ana Huang's Twisted series, but I was really disappointed by this.
The characters were really unlikable and unrelatable, the MCs didn't actually have all that chemistry and, oh my gosh, there's cheating!

In the end, this wasn't the book for me, although I'll be back for the next one, because I NEED to know how things end up!

This was very different from other Ana Huang novels. The characters are in college and it's typical sport jock x shy virgin trope.

Still it was enjoyable, quick read. Sometimes second hand embarrassment hit hard, but overall it was good. Recommend for reading slump, nice palette cleanser. 3/5⭐

This was such a bittersweet love story! I loved the development of their friendship into a relationship... Despite the rocky road Huang set from the outset. They were so sweet together - she complemented him well and their chemistry was on point. I loved how Huang included some relatable female struggles that will resonate with many. Listened to the audiobook and really enjoyed the dual narrators for the dual POVs. Blake's narrator, Aiden Snow, was so steamy and perfect. I didn't love Farrah's narrator, Cindy Kay, but they still flowed well together. Overall a quick, sweet, steamy read.

Farrah and Blake's story absolutely destroyed me. These two meet on a year abroad in college. Blake seems to have found the one person who truly sees him and after making a big mistake, he loses his everything. Watching their relationship blossom as these two fell in love and truly completed each other was truly heart warming which makes Blake's betrayal so hard. I had a lot of teenage heartbreak, so some of this hit very close to home for me and the emotions came pouring out. It was well done. I can't wait to listen to part 2 of this story.

The narrators did a great job with this one. I could hear the pain in their voices as well as the love. Great story!

3.5 stars
"If We Ever Meet Again" is the first book in the If Love series, written by Ana Huang. It tells the beginning of the story of Blake and Farrah, of when they met in a college in Shanghai. They're both in a foreign exchange student program, which keeps them gravitating towards each other. At first, they are reluctant to give in to their initial attraction, for different reasons. Blake doesn't want complications and dating a fellow student of the FIA program reeks of complications. Farrah tries to keep her distance from Blake because she knows his type and she doesn't want to be another notch under his belt. However, their magnetic pull is too hard to resist, and they fall hard for each other. I listened to the audio version of this book, and I was not a fan of the narrator voicing Farrah; when I was listening to her, I kept imagining Farrah as a stereotypical LA girl, shallow and fake, which is crazy because Farrah is none of those things, she's warm and friendly. The opposite was true for the narrator voicing Blake, his voice melted me like butter on a hot toast! I loved the first part of the book; it was funny, sweet and very sexy at times. The scenery description of Shanghai and the places the group visited was amazing. However, the plot twist, besides being a little predictable, was very confusing; additionally, the ending dragged a lot and was not satisfactory in the least! I'm aware that there's a continuation of Blake's and Farrah's story in the sequel, so maybe the author redeems herself there.
