April & Mae is an early reader series about April & Mae's Friendship and their two pets. In this book, they are having a movie night. The two friends have different interests. They decide to compromise and let one watch the scary movie they would like while the other goes into the other room. It is a good lesson in learning that not everyone needs to share the same interests.

This is a delightful read on friendship and sisterhood. The book follows April and Mae during the movie night where they discover they have different tastes in pizza and their consideration for each other is impeccable. The movie turns out to be scary and they realize that being different is not necessarily bad.. I recommend this delightful read to everyone.

My daughter loves this series and was excited to preview this newest title, April & Mae and the Movie Night. In this story, April and Mae get together for a movie night at home, but their tastes are quite different. This sweet tale of friendship shows young readers that we can be different and still care for and get along with each other.

These books are great for beginning readers with their expressive illustrations and simple sentence structure. I would say this book compares to level 2/3 early readers. This is a wholesome series that I would recommend to parents and young readers.

A cute book about 2 young girls that are nervous about a sleepover and differences they may have. Turns out of course they are different but that makes the sleepover even more enjoyable! I think this is a good read for beginning readers and I’ll be getting it for my daughter. Thanks for the copy.

I love this sweet series. April and Mae are learning what being best friends means and having fun doing it. One of the most important things they're learning is that being friends doesn't always mean you like or are interested in the exact same things. I liked that April, who doesn't like scary movies, not only picked out one because Mae would enjoy it but gave it a try herself without automatically rejecting it. True, she wound up briefly hiding under the kitchen table with Mae's cat keeping her company, but she at least tried. Ironically, it's April's dog who keeps Mae company while she watches the movie after reassuring April, who opts to stay in the kitchen with the milk and cookies, showing even friends of best friends can differ. They all like milk and cookies, though, the post-movie treat. Special dog and cat treats for the pets, too, of course.

With a target audience aged 5-9, the stories and simple and straight-forward, as are the illustrations. April and Mae may be different with different likes and dislikes, but, as they conclude, "You like what you like". Children facing many of the fears and unknowns April and Mae are tackling as they grow should be able to relate. The words used are frequently repeated to aid budding readers and the illustrations add to the story without distracting. These chapter books should be fun for those targeted and perhaps instigate some discussion. All in all, a winner of a book (and series).

April and Mae are two girls who are friends but are quite different. They deal with typical elementary type problems such as being nervous during a sleep over. Young readers in the age 5-7 range will relate to these characters for sure.

The writing is in large font, and simple sentences, which is great for early readers. The text is made up of mainly decodable words and sight words and I think it would be accessible for children in about grade 1. I think this would be a great book for those students who are becoming a bit bored with simple leveled picture books and want to see themselves as a reader of longer books. I would recommend it for children in the age 5-7 range.

A great beginners reading book about friendship and difference. April and mae may not like the same thing but they are best friends who compromise and care for one another.

What a cute kids collection of books. This little book is about how two girls are best friends and they know what each others likes and dislikes are. Instead of arguing about what one likes and the other does not, they work together and make what they both like. This would be perfect for a mini book box.

Celebrate the differences. Enjoy when you’re with your favourite person even when you do not have the same tastes.

I am in love with this chapter book series. I love April and Mae and the cute dog and the cat.
