"Zoe and Nathan are university students, when they find themselves unexpectedly expecting. Nathan’s mom, a retired nurse, graciously invites Zoe to stay with her and Nathan. Then, suddenly, strange things start happening. Missing items, peculiar behavior, and is it just Prudence, or does it feel like these unexplained instances are escalating?"
This one wasn't a must have for me. It fell a little flat for me, but others I saw enjoyed it's pace. and storyline. I would still recommend it to others, even though it wasn't a must have for me.

I noticed another review from a fellow reader stating that this book had great potential, but just fell flat; I could not have put it better myself. Whilst the premise was great, with an 18-year-old couple getting pregnant and the mother suspecting her son's pregnant girlfriend to be a little on the untrustworthy side, the storytelling just did not equal the great plot idea. I enjoyed the book all the same, but it required suspension of disbelief and ended up dragging.

File this book under one with so much potential and intelligent twists in the latter half, but just landed flat. With a stronger execution and less predictability early on, this plot & ending could have been solid. It’s a quick read at under 300 pages, and kept me interested just enough to want to know what the ending is instead of DNF’ing.

This is the first book I have read, written by Lorna Dounaeva. Fast paced with some twists keeps you reading until finish. None family is perfect but some of them have more secrets and some secrets inevitably touch the lives of other people. It is not easy to deal with a person if you don't know what motives are hidden under their mysterious behaviours.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
I wasn’t a big fan of this one. I found a lot of it to be pretty predictable and what wasn’t predictable was a bit out there. Sometimes a few too many things go on in just one book. I wasn’t at all surprised about Alana who seemed bizarre from the very beginning. The entire dynamic between Zoe and Prudence was strange and almost rushed. One minute Zoe just found out she was pregnant. The next she is having the baby.
This was an ok book but wasn’t the greatest.
This was quite the rollercoaster of a domestic thriller! It was incredibly engaging but also heart wrenching at times. I really enjoyed it and soothe ARC!
This was a really gripping story which I thoroughly enjoyed. Well written with plenty of twists, several parts were not at all predictable and some bits were shocking, I would definitely recommend this. A brilliant read x
I loved this book! the story had me gripped from a few chapters in! Maybe because I was just after having a baby myself! I thought I had the story figured out early on but I was so very wrong! I couldn't believe the twist and was gripped to the end! Will be looking forward to reading more from this author.
Whoa! What a ride this book was. I didn’t know who to trust and was on the edge of my seat the whole time. If you like fast paced thrills, do not miss out on this book. Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book.
After discovering that her son’s 18 year old girlfriend is pregnant, Prudence welcomes Zoe into her home. That is only the beginning of dangerous accidents that occur. When Prudence’s son (Nathan) is present, Zoe is kind and helpful. However, when he is not, Zoe become sullen and mean. Prudence begins to experience serious accidents after Zoe moves in. Prudence knows that something is wrong with Zoe, but no one will listen. She is written off as being paranoid or jealous. The Family Trap is an awesome psychological thriller that I could not put down. It is full of twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. It was a quick read with plenty of suspense and entertainment. I highly recommend this author and book. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advance review copy in exchange for my honest review.
This is my first book by Lorna, I liked it and there was a lot of tension. It was in my opinion a lot of build up and not much twists. I thought based on what was happening that more would’ve happened. I’ll looking forward to trying more by the author.
Thanks goes to net galley and the publishers for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review and for the author writing it.
Two simple words shatter Prudence Ahern’s world - “I’m pregnant.”
Her son Nathan is only eighteen when his new girlfriend Zoe drops that little bombshell. Prudence feels she has to support her son and asks Zoe to move in with them.
Right from the start, Prudence knows something isn’t right. When Nathan is around, Zoe is sweet and funny but as soon as it’s just the two of them, she becomes menacing and sullen.
Worse still, Prudence becomes the victim of a series of increasingly dangerous accidents which begin soon after Zoe moves in.
She tries to warn her son that something is wrong with Zoe, but he refuses to listen, so it’s left to Prudence to figure out what's going on. Who is the mysterious Zoe? What exactly does she want from them? And whose child is she really carrying?
Filled with shocking twists and diabolical secrets, The Family Trap will keep you up all night.
A gripping story from the start with some unexpected twists. A new author for me but one I cant wait to read more from..

Two single parent families, two very young adults soon to be parents. Surely the mum's will pull together and help them sort it all out? A thriller with all kinds of twists and turns, the thought of not being believed is enough to give you sleepless nights,... As will this book as you rush to finish it!
A brilliant read.
I really enjoyed reading this book and first time author for me. Will definitely read more from this author. This book is a thriller and keeps you intrigued and questioning the different people right from the start. Sometimes family is not all you need .

Wow, this was absolutely fantastic and I can't wait to read more from Dounaeva. How have I never heard of her before?
The Family Trap is an addictive, adrenalin fuelled thriller that's well paced, roller-coaster twisty and has a blow your mind ending (which I wasn't expecting.)
The characters are cleverly written and throughout the book I found myself doubting myself over and over as I thought of who the culprit was, and I was still totally wrong!
Suspenseful, dark and thoroughly gripping.
Many thanks to Zooloo's Book Tours for my tour spot.

This book kept me guessing for quite a while! Does Zoe mean harm for her new family? Will the baby change family dynamics?
Spoiler Alert: There is a pet dog related trigger that I found to be very sad.
I was given a free copy of this book from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest. All opinions are mine.
I received an arc copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it and I really did enjoy this one. The story is told in parts but mostly by Prudence, one of the main characters. When Prudence meets her son's (Nathan) girlfriend, she feels like something is just off about her. Zoe announces she is pregnant and Prudence has doubts if Nathan is the father as Zoe's mom, Alana, talks about all the boyfriends in Zoe's past. With the young couple both being in college, Prudence has them move into her home. Strange things begin to happen to Prudence and she feels like Zoe is trying to harm her. Zoe is a sweet and outgoing person around other people but so different in front of Prudence. Part of the story is also told in emails Zoe sends to her dad.
There were a lot of twists and I really did enjoy this book and would definitely read more by this author.
The Family Trap can have so many meanings. It is a perfect title for this story. Prudence has just retired when she finds out her son’s girlfriend is pregnant. While it is not news she expected to hear, she welcomes them into her home. When strange things start to happen, Prudence starts to worry.
I was intrigued by this book from the prologue. It is a book that kept me guessing who was good and who was evil. I enjoyed the story and its many twists. It was a quick, very good read!
