Maisey Yates always delivers, a prolific romance author who is able to write books that clearly differ from each other. Cowboy Wild tells the tale of a younger sister and her brother's best friend, a tried and true trope that Yates breaths new life into.

I'm a die hard Maisey Yates fan, so I was delighted to get a copy of Cowboy Wild. I've enjoyed the Four Corners series, but I enjoyed the Copper Ridge and Gold Valley series. Each pair is compelling, but I felt like Cowboy Wild mirrored Jamie Dodge's story, at least emotionally.

Another great read from Maisey Yates! Cowboy Wild is about the last Garrett sibling, Elise and one of the McCloud siblings, Hunter. I love the continuation from the first two books in the series and we get to check back in with the other couples. I also liked learning much more about the McClouds and several of the other families at Four Corners Ranch. There was a lot of foreshadowing for future books and relationships which I am a huge fan of. I can't wait for the series to continue.

I’m a big fan of Maisey’s cowboy romances! This one was angsty, slow burn, steamy, and best friends little sister. I really like Hunter! He’s charming, works with his brothers, and had a past. Elise is a cowgirl who is stubborn and grew up with just brothers. She can be immature at times. Elsie also helps with horse lessons at Hunter’s ranch sometimes. These two like to push each other buttons given an opportunity! Elsie decides she finally wants to be seen as a woman and land a guy, so she asks Hunter for help. Hunter agrees, grumpily! I think these two are a good match. They had a lot to learn and over come from their pasts, but they do! I enjoyed the story but was a little repetitive at times. But all in all a good cowboy romance!

DNF and will not be reviewing. I read three of the novellas prior to picking this up and it suffers from similar issues I had with those.

I love the Four Corners series and hope there are many more books to come!
Elsie is a rough and tumble gal and having her sparring nemesis Hunter coach her on how to flirt is hilarious. Because I knew what would happen. Both scarred from damaged childhoods, they are so alike. Hunter slips over the edge but it takes some more convincing for Elsie to follow. I loved how vulnerable Hunter allowed himself to be, despite his walls. Only Hunter could get away with referring to her as a varmint as he’s declaring his love—- that was quite humorous.
I am patiently waiting for Gus and to see who will win his heart. My heart goes out it him in each Four Corners book.

Four Corners Ranch, Oregon – Present Day

Elsie Garrett has grown up around cowboys, so being around sexy cowboy Hunter McCloud shouldn’t be a big deal. But her brothers are protective of her and there is no way that she can ask them for tips on how to flirt with a man that she’s interested in. So, Elsie asks Hunter. Whenever she has seen him in the local bar, he has used his charms on women without fail. All she wants is his secrets to what a man likes to hear. But once they start to talk, a sudden attraction begins to develop. Why after all these years is Elsie suddenly wanting Hunter?

Hunter has always looked at Elsie as his best friends’ little sister. When she comes to him asking for his help in flirting, he doesn’t understand why it bothers him that she not only wants to flirt with another man, but she intends to lose her virginity to the guy. However, Hunter does give her some advice, and he then wonders how he will feel seeing her go after the guy she’s currently interested in. As he struggles with his unexplained feelings, they agree to go on an out-of-town trip to see some horses. They will also stop at a store where he will also advise Elsie on buying some decent man-attracting clothes. An overnight stay in a hotel soon makes it clear that there are more than just feelings of friendship between Hunter and Elsie.

COWBOY WILD is a friends-to-lovers romance that will tickle the fancy of readers. Four Corners is a quartet of local ranches that intersect and the four families interact with each other. Two of the McCloud brothers have found love, and Elsie is happy for them. However, being the youngest and only girl, her brothers are overly protective of her. How is she expected to learn how to feel like a woman with them hovering over her? Hunter is a good friend and seems to know how to please a woman, so a few tips from him should give her a start on her plan to seduce the man she currently has her sights on. However, Hunter has heard that the guy is a love ‘em and leave ‘em type, so tries to warn her. Instead, Elsie throws out a challenge to Hunter: she wants to lose her virginity to him. Will he take her up on the offer?

There are plenty of fun scenes and sexy banter in COWBOY WILD. Elsie knows how to hold herself against super alpha cowboys like Hunter and isn’t afraid to go toe-to-toe with him. Both need to be strong after their turbulent childhood with parents who left or were not good parental figures. The Garrett and McCloud families practically raised themselves, along with some help from each other. But how will they feel about Hunter and Elsie having sex? Will it cross some unspoken boundary line? It certainly is going to be hard to hide the fact that Hunter and Elsie have the hots for each other.

A delightful romance with some fun characters, I highly recommend COWBOY WILD. It’s the third tale in the Four Corners Ranch series, but this one can be read as a standalone.

Elsie Garret was always the baby of the Garrett clan. Her brothers loved her, helped raise her along with the other men on the Four Corners Ranch. She was born in a barn and left in the hay by her mother who was tired of being pregnant and having children to clean up after. Her father was only interested in the children doing his work while he drank. He beat his wife until one day she left, leaving Sawyer and Wolf to take care of the ranch and Elsie. They could suffer from his drinking and ugly, nasty self. At 24 years, she decided it was time to find someone to help her become the woman she was. She could enjoy life despite the ugly memories. The Sullivan families had an open door for her and the other in the Four Corners. Elsie was a true horsewoman. She learned her trade from the McClouds, especially Hunter. Now she was helping set up the ranch for McClouds Landing to become a center for equine therapy. Gus, the eldest McCloud brother was spot on when he hired her to help with clients and train horses. She worked with Hunter on a daily basis. Although he was truthful, handsome and an incredible man, she thought of him as a brother until the night at the bar when another cowboy asked her to dance and became a bit too friendly for Hunter’s liking.
Cowboy Wild will be published by Harlequin on February 21, 2023. I am appreciative of their allowing me to read Maisey Yates latest in the Four Corner Ranch series via NetGalley. She has the ability to give her characters honest, expressive thoughts and feelings. Both Hunter and Elsie suffered a childhood of being neglected and shunned by their parents. Each kept the loss of love tucked away inside only for it to creep out in their dreams.
Cowboy Wild is an excellent story of family and the capability to circle their siblings with love and understanding. Four Corners is an outstanding series with Cowboy Wild being an enchanting story. Do Enjoy!

I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.

Both stories in this book are about trauma and healing and finding love through all this. Four Corners is a ranch of broken families and tragedy but two in this book find a love that brings healing to broken hearts.

I hope to be able to read Gus’s story someday. Great read and an author I would definitely recommend.

Elsie Garrett is a master with horses. It makes sense that in her mind there should be an equal way to attract a man, see with a horse all you need is patience and a carrot. Elsie is currently working on one of the Four Corners ranches. Not on her own families but a neighbor, the McClouds.

The kids on the Four Corners ranch grew up together, one room schoolhouse, etc. So Elsie has known everyone on the ranch. Her older brothers are now settled and married. Hunter McCloud has also grown up on the ranch and about the same age as Elsie’s brothers.

He finds himself in a similar situation as her brothers, wanting to protect her and in this case protect Elsie from herself. Elsie knows horses. Elsie knows nothing about men. Which means that her current attraction to a young cowhand on his ranch is troubling.

The McClouds are definitely an interesting bunch. All brothers from the same father and from different mothers. Women who basically couldn’t or wouldn’t stay with the dad. Candidly the boys had their share of difficulty with their father. So they grew up rather feral, their own word, and wild. Now things have settled a bit with one of them happily married. And their investment in the horse therapy business they were working on. And that’s where Hunter finds himself working closely with Elsie.

Elsie is way more complicated than Hunter at first considered when he offered to help her attract a cowboy that worked on the ranch. She wanted to learn how to be that woman who men actually looked at. Not like excellent with horses, responsible, but hot enough to want to really know. She was not looking for a relationship, just some chance to spread her wings. Learning more than he really expected Hunter realizes that Elsie is looking for someone to choose her. Her mother left. Her brothers are now married. People leave in Elsie’s world.

You might say COWBOY WILD is a journey to find belonging and self-worth. Sometimes it takes seeing yourself through someone else’s eyes. And I guess that is the moral of this story. Letting yourself imagine being loved and in love. Taking that scary plunge. Maisie Yates once again brings to life some heart grabbing characters whose lives were built on very shaky ground. Through her gift of gab, Maisey Yates characters quickly become important, relevant, and real. Every story written by this prolific author becomes a favorite. And COWBOY WILD now sits proudly in that seat. And with an added surprise story at the end things couldn’t be better.
