Love, love, love this book!! Lori Foster has such a talent for creating characters that readers can relate to and care about. I've read every book she's written multiple times. This book will be no exception. Hunter and Jodi are two of my favorite characters. This story will draw you in and keep you reading. I'd recommend this book to anyone who likes sexy romance with suspense and heartwarming moments, too.

5 star

The story has suspense, secrets, and .

This is Jodi and Hunter's story. After Hunter uncovered a horrible crime scene he left his job, friends, and family to move away. He lives in a cabin for the most part off the grid. But still deals with a few folks but keeps any interaction to a bare minimum. When a woman moves into the cabin next door, he is not happy. He knows with just a look that she is nothing but trouble and he has had enough of that to last a lifetime. But when danger comes for her, he knows he will stop at nothing to protect her. Can they take care of the danger before it takes out one of them? Or is he going to lose even more than he lost before?

I highly recommend this book.

I waited so long for this book to be released. Jodi was introduced in an earlier story (all books are standalone but I recommend reading the series). I was skeptical about where Ms. Foster could insert anymore suspense with Jodi. We knew a bit about her background. She was “safe” at the conclusion of the other story. I wasn’t sure what other secrets would be exposed that draw a reader in more than what was already revealed (since the McKenzies had their stories told). I could not love Jodi anymore. BUT I never expected to be more caught up with the hero, Hunter. Man he was the draw. There was humor, secrets, intrigue, I couldn’t put it down. Just when I think I have a few months of not sitting on the edge of my seat --- MEET MEMPHIS, oh yeah. Sigh….scooting to the edge of my seat. Lori always finds a way to take the story to the next level.

There is a not a single Lori Foster book that I would not immediately go out and buy! This one is absolutely no exception. With as many books as she has under her belt it is truly amazing that she keeps putting out original page turners. I just love this book and will be adding a copy to my shelf.

I’m always sad when a series comes to a close, but picking up a book that’s connected to a previous series takes a little of the sting. 😉 That’s exactly how I felt when I discovered that the Osborne Brothers (at least The Dangerous One) had a connection to The McKenzies of Ridge Trail and that connection was Jodi.

Although there was a definite attraction between Jodi and Hunter, the romance was a slow burn. Hunter didn’t exactly give Jodi a warm welcome to the “neighborhood”. He was a loner and he not only liked it that way, he wanted to keep it that way. He had no idea why anyone would take on a property like the one next door. In his eyes, it wasn’t close to being livable, but Jodi liked a challenge and wasn’t afraid of hard work.

Regardless of his initial reluctance, it didn’t take long for him to grow to respect Jodi and for that mutual respect between the two of them grow into more. They both had their own demons from their past and some were much closer.

As I’ve mentioned before, I’m a huge fan of pretty much everything that Lori Foster writes, but her romantic suspense offerings are my favorite. The Dangerous One definitely fell into that category. That suspense, along with a strong sense of family made this one hard to put down. I can’t wait to get to know the rest of the Osborn’s as the series continues.

Hunter Osborn was a park ranger, but something went terribly wrong eighteen months ago and he's been living alone with a rescue hound.

Jodi Bentley has a dark past but with help from the Mackenzie's elite task force she healed and found a purpose. She's tough as nails, self-sufficient and determined to try live the ""everyday life, for the everyday woman.'

Trying to live a normal life, Jodi buys a small, rundown house and starts her own lawncare business. She's prickly and a straight shooter but I fell in love with her tenaciousness to live her life and not let what happened to her ruin her future.

Hunter is drawn to her the moment he first saw her but he has his own wounds to heal.

Jodi finds herself in the cross hairs of killers and madmen, and while she's willing to take them all on, Hunter can't stop wanting to protect her.

I love this partnership and that while Hunter really wanted to mothball her, he knew her well enough to be her partner. Their story is a slow burn with sparks, and MacKenzie cameos and I enjoyed every minute of their story.

On a side note, I don't think the cover does the story justice.

Hunter has moved away from everyone and everything to try and get his life together. It's all going fine until he lays eyes on Jodi. She's got secrets from her past just like he does and is trying to start over as well. They both sense the other has secrets they're keeping and could be dangerous but they are drawn to each other. Jodi is a tough lady and can take care of herself but Hunter instantly feels protective of her and that doesn't sit well with her. When Jodi is in trouble, it's best they work together. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving my review.

Hunter has seen terrible things. Now living in a cabin out in the woods with his dog turbo. Hunter is used to the solitude. When Jodi moves in next door he is equal parts annnoyed at first and drawn to her. He senses a troubled soul like he is. When he sees how rundown the cabin is, he has to help this fiesty woman.
Jodi is running from her past, not wanting to let anyone get close to her. Even reluctant to accept help from the few friends she does have. She doesnt want anything to do with her handsome neighbour.
When someone starts lurking around her property. Both Jodie and Hunter are worried.
Lori Foster does a good job of ramping up the tension in The Dangerous One. This book is likely to keep you up late at night. I dont want to give too much away. So pick up a copy and read for yourself.
If you enjoy romantic suspense this one is highly recommended

I loved Jodi in the McKenzie series and was so happy she was able to find her own HEA. Jodi and Hunter both ended up in the same small town after painful and troubles back home. All Hunter wanted was to be left alone and to do his job alone. He recognizes that Jodi has some pain that she has dealt with but hopes she leaves him alone however as she bought the house next to his that won't be an option. It's a good thing they get along when trouble comes along for Jodi again, when someone evil wants something that was left at the house she bought. Jodi, Hunter & Hunter's dog Turbo all need to work together to figure out the puzzle and to make sure that Jodi will be able to live a peaceful life.

An Amazing start to a new series! I love these brothers! Lori has a way of bringing 2 broken people together to almost make them whole again. Jodi and Hunter both have tragic past and major secrets. Hunter pushes her to spill her story pretty early in the book. Hunter on the other hand did not tell his side for quite a while which kinda drove me crazy! Both bought a house on land to get away from the real world. But found each other, these two had an undeniable instant connection. If you read the McKenzies of Ridge Trail books you remember Jodi. Jodi is stronger, more independent and smarter than she realizes. As the story unravels we learn that some not very nice men are trying to prove a point. Big man in little pound kind of point. This book took me on a emotional journey and I enjoyed the ride. There was great banter, page turning action and tearful talks about past experiences. The characters were entertaining but had great depth and let’s not forget about Turbo. Turbo was a scene stealer several times. Im hooked and already excited for book number two in the series.

Lori Foster does not disappoint!
The Dangerous One has a little bit of forced proximity, a little bit of insta-lust, and a whole lot of overprotective hero and those things are some of my favorites!
Hunter and Jodi are both loners - by choice - due to tragic things that have happened in their respective pasts. Jodi survived a traumatic long-term event that scarred her emotionally and left her afraid of opening up to anyone. She sets out on a path to live an "everyday life" in a new town, far away from her tragic memories. Hunter lived through a horrific event that still haunts him to this day. He isolates himself in his cabin in the woods, working on cars and not having to worry about anyone except himself.
All of that changes when Jodi crosses paths with Hunter. The prickly woman with the beautiful eyes and the wary smile knock Hunter for a loop the instant he meets her. While they were both overly cautious, Hunter was first to give in to his attraction and basically inserted himself into her life by being "neighborly".
Jodi doesn't know what to do with Hunter. She has no room for a man in her life - or so she thinks. When danger follows her to her new home, involving her next door neighbor at the same time, she is forced to rely on someone other than herself.
I really, really loved Hunter. He was exactly what Jodi needed - someone strong, caring and protective, but who would also let her take care of herself. He respected her and he cherished her, and he gave her the time she needed to open up to him.
I thoroughly enjoyed their story, and I hope Memphis gets a book soon!

A new series is always exciting, especially if it is tied to an older, beloved one like The Mckenzies of Ridge Trail.
The Dangerous One is the first book in the Osborn Brothers series and it features Hunter Osborn. Hunter is a former park ranger that is haunted by his past and just wants to be left alone in his small-town hideaway. Unfortunately for Hunter, Jodi Bentley has the same idea and invades his precious space when she moves into the property next door.

It soon becomes clear that Jodi is not what she seems to be and danger surrounds her. Hunter and Jodi need to fight against their real and imagined enemies to find peace.

As a loyal Lori Foster fan, I adored this start to a new series. The story was action-packed and had just the right amount of romance.

Hunter Osborn and Jodi Bentley's story of discovery takes the reader on a thrilling and unexpected ride. They are two people who have moved to an isolated area near a small town to be alone. One of the things they discover is that they understand each other and enjoy being in each others company. Danger soon comes calling at Jodi's new house and as she and Hunter work together to figure out what is gong on they grow closer and soon their close friends and family become involved in the intrigue. This book was wonderful to read and I highly recommend it.
