ok, so there are quite a few things that i didn’t like about this book and let me preface this by saying it did not finish this book, i stopped reading at 77%.
so first i didn’t like how Samantha was when she first got to London, i felt like she was very annoying and seeing as she is the main character it didn’t really give much incentive to continue reading.
Also i didnt like how emerson hurt her and also how she wouldn’t have forgiven him even after finding out that he can’t have kids, now i’m guessing that what emerson didn’t tell her is that, that was the reason chelsea broke up with him, but i could be totally wrong, and in my head after she finds that out she forgives him and just couldn’t read that. I also get VERY emotionally connected with the fmc’s in the books that i am reading and feel whatever emotion is portrayed so when she was angry and upset, i was angry and upset and i just couldn’t get over that fast enough to forgive emerson myself, So that is the reason i dnf’d this book.
However, there were also things that i enjoyed about this book, i liked how they kind of only understood each other and could only put up with each other, i found that very nice to read and just to read about their whole dynamic when there wasn’t any hostility and arguments going on. I also liked how well Samantha got on with Emerson’s family, that was also very enjoyable to read.

This book was a little slow to get into. I did not fall in love with it immediately as I would have liked to. As I read more, I definitely did start to enjoy it more. It is the classic grumpy/sunshine, workplace romance with lots of jealousy and grovelling that everyone loves. My favourite parts of the book were the parts that discussed the characters' complex emotions about themselves. I was disappointed that these weren’t addressed more because I feel like both main characters felt super relatable feelings of anxiety, longing, and love.
The second book of fabulousness in this series, and I loved it. Swooningly romantic with some great dashes around London hitting the sights that locals know - Bermondsey mile anyone? Sam and Emmet are both lovely with such strong personalities- Sam all sunshine and Em all serious brood. They deserve an ending right for them and their journey to it is well told.
I usually love a broody sunshine and grumpy romance, but this didn't hit the spot for me.
Things I overshared follows a similar plot line to the Spanish Love Deception and Ali Hazelwood's novels, but where they are 5 star reads for me, this one is more like 3.
Samantha Carton (or Sam) is an extremely extroverted sales manager at Carton Cards, an international family run business. All her life she's been told she's "too much" and she's sworn off men because of bad experiences.
When she's tasked with planning a trip to Europe for her boss, she goes all out and books meetings with sellers of their products mixed in with tourist attractions and client schmoozing. But when her boss decides to stay home with his pregnant wife instead, she ends up taking his place along with the gorgeous Emerson, the CFO of Carton Cards, nicknamed the Iceman for his frosty disposition. Sam is desperate to break down his walls and become his friend, even though he's been nothing but introverted and strictly professional the whole ten years they have known each other. Slowly day by day Emerson begins to warm to her and it becomes clear that he has liked her for a long time.
On paper I should love this novel, it's exactly the kind of romance plot I typically love but there were some problematic aspects…
Firstly, Sam talks about dietary restriction and doesn't seem to have a healthy relationship with food. It's 2022 and I feel like her views are from a long while ago and not necessary for the character. This and other aspects make Same come across as very shallow. Which slightly contradicts what the author is trying to say about her.
Secondly, Emerson is controlling and wildly jealous. Sometimes this can be great in a romance, it's not real life and it's solely fantasy. However, for me it was too much. Scenes which are supposed to be spontaneous and sexy just come across as aggressive instead and that's very off-putting for me. The character also goes from being seemingly disgusted by Sam and utterly resistant to any kind of relationship, to being all over her and using "Angel" repeatedly as a nickname. It was like a brand new character appeared about 65% of the way through.
There's also quite a big age gap, I think 10+ years and that isn't my favourite in a romance.
3 stars from me!
Quick shout out to NetGalley and Kelsey Humphreys for the ARC for this book. Seriously I saw the title and cover and knew that waiting to read it would’ve been soul sucking.
I have again jumped into a series in the middle in true me fashion, but this is an interconnected series that can definitely be read as a stand alone evidenced by the fact that I totally followed the story with no prior knowledge of the series. That being said the first book in this series is now on my TBR because Kelsey Humphreys’s writing has me hooked.
Samantha is sunshine personified. Her personality was endearing and relatable. Emerson is the cloud to our heroine’s sunshine. She literally cannot stop the word vomit when she’s faced with his quiet stillness. Watching their chemistry develop was beautiful, but I wish it was more dual POV—I’d pay pretty much anything for Emerson’s POV.
If you’re a grumpy sunshine reader look no further this is for you! + a bit of work place and a smidge of age gap for extra swoonage on my part.
This is the first book I’ve read by Kelsey Humphreys and I must say I really enjoyed it. It was so easy to read, I finished it in less than 2 days. I felt so many emotions reading this; I laughed, swooned, felt heartbreak and did I mention that I swooned?
Things I loved:
- Emerson. His character gave me all the feels and I loved how attentive he was and how much he opened up throughout the book. How he was willing to be so vulnerable with her just to put her at ease.
- Sam’s humour. I laughed out loud too many times throughout the book.
Things I didn’t love so much:
- For the first chunk of the book I found Sam a little annoying. She just never gave Emerson a chance to explain ANYTHING.
Overall I would say it was a 4/5 and I’d really recommend. Can’t wait to talk about it on TikTok!
I absolutely loved this book!!!! this is the kind of work that makes you wanna give more than five stars. I want to give it all the stars!
The characters are unique and unapologeticly themselves. There’s so much I want to say about the story, and so difficult without having any spoilers.
Samantha is someone is completely connect with. She is bubbly, loud, talkative, but ohhhhh so kind. She is herself, regardless of the situation.
Emerson Clark aka frosty… I LOVE HIM SO MUCH!! He is a man of few words, but every word counts. So pay attention to them. Ah, I am swooning all over again!
Go read it! You will thank me!
Thank you NetGalley and Magnamour for the ARC! All thoughts are wholly my own.
Samantha and Emerson both work for her family's card empire. She's bubbly and people oriented and he's not. Sam doesn't understand why he dislikes her so much. Obviously Emerson doesn't dislike her at all and avoids communicating with her to hide his feelings. All this changes when Sam has to replace her boss on a several weeks business trip to Europe. This was a fun read. I'm going to check out the previous book and look forward to the rest of the sisters getting their stories.

💭Samantha Canton has just found out that she'll be taking her boss's place on the work trip of a lifetime to London and Paris- the perfect way to turnaround the otherwise crappy year she's been having. The only catch? She'll be travelling alongside icy office grump Emerson Clark, who's introverted ways are a shock to her extroverted, charming self.
Seeing Emerson as a lock to pick, she'll pull out all the stops to convince him that traveling together can be sunshine and rainbows, convinced she can melt his cold exterior. But if she can do that, will she be able to resist the smoldering charmer underneath?

🎯What I loved: Once he opened up, Emerson was such a romantic, sentimental hero. The European setting and creative outings made it the ultimate background for a RomCom. I didn't realize this until the very end, but this is the second book in a series of five sibling romances, so if you love the sister relationships and group chat threads, there's a lot more where that came from!
🙅♀️What I didn't: It took me a good 50% of the book to start liking Samantha. The first half of the book was essentially a Samantha monologue about how icy Emerson was. I get that she was supposed to be an extrovert but cutting people off and never letting other people talk isn't the same as getting energy from being around other people. Once Emerson had a chance to speak more and we actually got to see him develop as a character, I started liking the book more but oof that first half was rough.

This book was such a delight. I loved how extroverted Sam tried to break out "Icy" Emerson.
Samantha is to travel with Emerson for multiple weeks for a business trip. This had the ultimate chemistry a book should have. I loved reading about how Sam tried to break Emerson out of his shell. It was just a fun book overall and I highly recommend.
This was a great read - I loved Samantha’s character and loved that she stood for being your truest self no matter what that is.
I liked Emerson but don’t feel like he got as much character development and therefore I couldn’t find ways to justify some of his unfairest actions.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
This was one of the cutest books I’ve read all year! I stayed up late reading it because I refused to put it down! There was so much to love about this book!
Samantha is outgoing with such a sweet personality. She has to go on a month long work trip with her boss, Emerson, who is the opposite of her. He’s cold and an introvert. She’s determined to make him her friend.
This book was full of my favorite tropes!
☑️Enemies to lovers
☑️Workplace romance
☑️Forced proximity
☑️Grumpy/Sunshine
They had great chemistry and I loved watching their relationship evolve! They both showed vulnerability at times and my heart broke for them. They definitely had different family dynamics (I loved her sisters) but made such a great team.
I didn’t realize this was a series, so I will be going back to reading the first! I loved Kelsey Humphreys writing style and look forward to reading more from her! Definitely at this to your tbr list!

Full review to come! This was a fun haters to lovers romance, it was so fun reading and watching Emerson and Samantha come together, the writing was fresh, the romance was believable, and I definitely look forward to acquiring this title for our branch. 4/5
If you've ever been told you're too much...
Samantha Canton feels your pain. She knows she is, well, a lot. It's been a rough year, to put it mildly, so she is overjoyed to find out she gets to go on her dream work trip to Europe. But she’s not going alone. She’ll be crossing the pond with the company’s CFO, Emerson Clark.
Icy Emerson, as the industry calls him, is logical, serious and quiet. He likes solitude, the color gray, rain and hot tea - he is British, after all.
And he cannot stand Samantha in all her extra, southern, chatty, upbeat, neon-dress-wearing glory.
No problem, she’s never met someone she couldn’t befriend.
Until Now.
Commence nervous verbal diarrhea.
And commence the ultimate Grumpy/Sunshine, Billionaire, Enemies to Lovers, Slow Burn Boss Romance with rich characters and a payoff that will leave you absolutely giddy.
Super cute! I really liekd this book and have already downloaded another book in the series from Kindle Unlimited. I look forward to more books in this series!
After reading the first book in this series about Skye, I was so excited to hear that Samantha was getting a book. This book has so many of my favorite tropes: workplace romance, forced proximity, enemies to lovers , grumpy vs sunshine and even a touch of fake dating.
This book was so enjoyable. Not a completely closed door romance but not super steamy either.
This book was a super easy read and found myself sitting up until 4am to finish it.
I absolutely loved this book!
This was a really good enemies to lovers workplace romance, one of my favorites!
The series is definitely worth the read and I will continue reading about the lovely characters!
My personal rating: 4,5⭐️
This is the second book in the series, but it can be read as a standalone story. I am very interested in reading the first book in the series, but I didn't feel lost when I read this one. The beginning of the book was slower to get into it, but it really picked up the pace as the story progressed. I loved the dynamic between Sam and Emerson. It was so much fun to live vicariously through their travels through London and Paris. Their relationship and connection was so real, and their story was very earned. They went through a journey together, and they earned their HEA.
With Emerson, I loved how vulnerable he became with Sam, especially with his family and his fears about not being enough for Sam. He seemed icy on the outside, but Sam was able to warm his heart. With Sam, I loved that she didn't change herself for anyone. She was proud of who she was, and she was confident in her personality and her abilities at work.
The story had unexpected twists and turns, and it couldn't put it down! I can't wait to read more books in this series and hear more about the Canton sisters!
Thanks to NetGalley and Victory Editing for and ARC of this book. I definitely recommend it!
I have literally just put this book down and I am sobbing! I have no word for how amazing this book was. I read book one in the series and it was an instant 5 stars for me but this book totally blew me away.
Sam was one of my favourite characters from the first book and reading her and Emerson’s story felt like a rollercoaster of emotions! All in all this book is utter perfection and Kelsey is now one of my all time favourite authors. I’m so excited to read the rest of this amazing series and learn about the other sisters.

》》The Plot《《
I freaking loved this book. Everything was written so well. I desperately wanted his pov. I wished it contained dual pov. But it was so awesome.
》》Characters and Relationships《《
Their interactions were so cute. And I freaking loved how she overshared everything 😂. I also loved her sisters. Emerson personality reminded me of Adam carlsen.
I can't believe he was in love with her from beginning. I freaking loved that. Their romance was perfect. His sighs were cute af 😁. And his grand apology made my heat flutter.
“Really? I can’t . . . I mean . . . a dog? And all our people? So many people! And the ring— I didn’t even tell you how much I love it! Em, this . . . this is all too much!”
“For you, Angel, it’s not nearly enough.”
》》Conclusion《《
I enjoyed this book so much. The plot and the trope was so unique. I would definitely recommend if you want some fluffy and light hearted read.
Thank you to Netgalley and The Publisher for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review!
So much can be said with just a sigh. It's true actually. I sigh contentedly or angrily all day. And sighing seems to be Emerson's love language. And Samantha can understand him so it's perfect. This book is funny and so surprising. Samantha seems like a flake at first but she's kind, thoughtful, hardworking, loyal, and has insecurities like anyone else. Emerson is so closed off but the person that emerges (slowly, ever so slowly) is dynamite. I love how these two balance each other. Didn't love when Samantha called Emerson "Em". It's a total misnomer for his manly self. So excited to read the rest of the Canton sister books. Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC!
