I was contacted by the publisher and given the opportunity to read Christie’s latest novel in advance of publication, I have literally just finished this novel and am sat with a huge smile on my face.
I was transported to the village of Heartcross in Scotland, where I sat comfortably and followed the adventures of Bea & Nolan and all the other villagers, this is a really fantastic read.
I would recommend this to all
5 stars 🌟 from me
I can’t wait to see what Christie writes next

Christie Barlow does it again. I loved the story of Bea and Nolan. It was great how they both found happiness in Heartcross. Nolan’s grandfather ‘s story was sad and happy. The boat sounded amazing as did the boathouse. Bea’s plan was amazing . I won’t spoil it. Read it

A Summer Surprise at the Little Blue Boathouse by Christie Barlow
A long awaited welcome back to the village of Heartcross and all our friends there. Bea’s has just started to fall apart and has just arrived from her life in Staffordshire to get over a broken love life. She is welcomed at the B&B along with community of the beautiful village. Bea takes on a job at the little boathouse to help out Julia from the B & B for the two weeks she is on holiday to get over her break up and to decide what she really want to do with her life going forward . She meets the happy Nolan on his travels on the ‘The Hemingway’ a fabulous houseboat that he has restored that originally was his grandfathers . The are both a journey regarding their lives. She loves the community and is making some wonderful friends in a very short time and she has a strange encounter with with old eccentric Mystic Martha and decides to have her fortune told.
The wonderful characters just welcome you with a warm hug like an old friend .
There is a mystery with many a twist which will go and unfold a few red herrings and laughter and tears.
A great page turner I curled on the sofa until it’s finished.
Yet another fantastic book not to be missed even if you have never ventured into Heartcross before.
A Summer Surprise at the little Blue Boathouse by C. Barlow, published byHarper Collins UK / One More Chapter, is book 11 in the Love Heart Lane Series. The book can easily be read as a stand-alone. A beautiful slow burn, a swet story where not much happens but the characters are just right just like the story is just right, just beautiful, 4,5 sweet stars.
The perfect next instalment of books set in Heartcross, I always enjoy coming back to this setting and look forward to the next book out in September.
A sweet romance of two people overcoming heartbreak and looking for new beginnings. This is a series but reads fine alone. A nicely woven romance for a quiet day with a tea and some fresh air!
I never tire of visiting Heartcross, as they say once you go to Heartcross you never want to leave, what a true statement!.
I absolutely adore the Love Heart Lane series, great to catch up with the friends we all know and love.
New arrival Bea is on a two week holiday and ends up helping out at the Boathouse, she soon teams up with Nolan to discover his grandfathers past and to find the mysterious Patsy.
This can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend you read the series you will be addicted
I loved this book! Everything I would expect from a Christie Barlow novel - a stunning countryside setting, romance and a heart-warming ending. This was the perfect summer read.
I read this book in less than a day and loved being catapulted back into the village of Heartcross - it is the ideal place to escape to for a few hours. As always, I particularly enjoyed the community feel of the village and how all the characters are so welcoming & friendly.
I adore the beautiful cover art of Christie Barlow's books and this one doesn't disappoint.
Slight predictability to the plot line, but that's what makes it such a light and easy read. I'm excitedly awaiting the next in the Love Heart Lane series.
When you arrive at Heartcross you never leave!! There are not many books left, I don’t want to leave!!!
A summer surprise at the little blue boathouse tells the story of Bea who arrives in the village to mend a broken heart and Nolan who is searching for the mysterious Patsy, his Grandfathers long lost love. As usual the villagers come together to welcome the new arrival and it’s just lovely and heartwarming!!
This book can be read as standalone however why would you want to when you can devour the previuos books in the series!!
Highly recommend!
A Summer Surprise at the Little Blue Boathouse is the latest novel in Christie Barlow’s Love Heart Lane series. This novel follows Bea who arrives in the beautiful Scottish village of Heartcross looking to mend her broken heart. She stumbles into her ideal job at the Little Blue Boathouse and also stumbles upon the gorgeous Nolan Hemingway. I adored this book, the new characters of Bea and Nolan fit in perfectly alongside our old favourites and I found myself completely lost in the story. It’s uplifting, heartwarming and will put a smile on your face. One of my favourite books of the year. Thank you to NetGalley, Harper Collins UK, One More Chapter and the author for the chance to review.
This was a wonderfully uplifting read set once again in the welcoming Scottish village of Heartcross, this time featuring newcomers Bea and Nolan. Bea is fleeing from a broken relationship and Nolan is travelling in his grandfathers boat which Nolan restored after his grandfathers death but both quickly find themselves spending time with each other whilst trying to solve the mystery of Nolan’s grandfathers past. There were no shocks or surprises in this for me as it was easy to see the direction the story was going it but it was a very quick and enjoyable read with lovely characters and oozing with warmth throughout. 9/10
