Well I didn’t see that one coming!!!

I was very confused all along and although not a lot happened (extreme murders that left me baffled) I did not see the two-wife twist at all!!!

The sense of urgency starts straight away in the Lost wife, you are holding your breath and feel your heart rate quicken. You are running away with the Protagonist and feel disoriented as the story gets more and more complex . You feel like you have been kidnapped and embark on Crazy ride which will leave you breathless. An absolute triumph with insane twists I would have never expected and I have seen my share of them! Absolutely great!

I went into this without reading the description as sometimes they give too much away.

I didn’t know what to expect, although I have read another book by the same author and I really enjoyed that.

This book was told in a before-and-after format and was a slow burn, but it was totally worth it, I was not expecting the twist at all, I literally had my mouth open in a wow expression.
It was fantastic!

A woman and child arrive at a cottage in the Peak District, what should have been the happiest day ended with her running away covered in blood.

A really enjoyable thriller, once I started I couldn’t put it down. It’s told in two different time lines, so you get just enough info to keep you hooked and wanting to know more.

I know I’m in the minority, but this book did absolutely nothing for me.
Thank you One More Chapter, Harper Collins UK and NetGalley for the ARC!

This is my first book by the author and I'm so glad I read it.
There are a few graphic scenes and it's a dark plot, which to me that's how a psychological thriller should be.
The story is told through the main character Lea. I was cheering her on, but at times I felt she let people walk all over her.
I was gripped from start to end and there are plenty of plot twists. Highly recommended

Gripping read and completely unexpected twist. Once started a very hard book to put down. Easy to follow dual time line.

This book had me hooked right from the start. A short, quick read, I was left stumped at the end with a big twist I didn't see coming. A great thriller! Would recommend.

Loved this book this kept you gripped from the beginning right until the end. I didn't guess what was gonna happen. And I liked that I couldn't work it out.

I was hooked from the start and could not put the book away. Brilliant with all its suspense and intrigue. Second guessing the outcome all the way through as I could not work out where it was going and I certainly did not see the last major twist coming and was taken completely by surprise. Changing between present and past this psychological thriller was written at a fast pace and I loved it.

I found this book difficult to put down - the twists and turns in the plot are amazing! I cannot wait to read another book by this author.

Told via a 'before and after' format, this thriller was twisty, disturbing, and unsettling.

In the present we meet a woman and a young boy who are on the run. They go to a holiday cottage in the Peak District. Their presence there seems to have been arranged before hand. The woman has little money, even less petrol, and is becoming more and more desperate. Also, she has a nasty knife wound on her arm. She dare not go to a hospital because someone is after her... The wound turns septic... The little boy, Josh, becomes more and more traumatized though the woman is trying to protect him.

In the time leading up to the event we meet Lea, Harry, and their son Josh. They are not married, but Harry finally springs the question after their son is five years old. Harry's proposal sets events in motion. For Lea is not sure this is the life she wants. Harry seems to harbour many secrets. Lea is twenty-six years old and seems to regret her lost freedom. She even seems to regret the existence of her son at times. Weird things seem to happen to Lea. There are cameras in every room of her house. She gets fired from her job through no fault of her own. Harry keeps his office in their home locked at all times. What is he hiding?

This novel has lot of elements that will appeal to those who love psychological thrillers. Uncertainty about what led to a mysterious, pivotal event - and what was the event??? With an extremely unreliable narrator, the reader is never really certain of what is really going on. The writing is compelling, the characters unlikable (with the exception of Josh), and the plot is serpentine. Hold on to your hat! Georgina Lees has done it again!

Thank you @onemorechapterhc and @glees_author for my gifted copy and for including me in this read-along!

This character-driven novel drew me in from the first page! The story begins in the present, and is told in first person by Lea, a terrified bride who is traveling late at night to her honeymoon destination. She is mourning her lost dreams and we soon realize that something went terribly wrong on her wedding day. It is not her husband, Harry, who is traveling with her, but it’s their young son, and she must protect him from the “bad people.”

The timeline then switches between the past, with puzzling circumstances as Lea suspects Harry of keeping secrets, and the present, as Lea tries to stay in hiding and does whatever is necessary to protect her son. (Hint: Don’t get in her way!)

It’s difficult to give a thorough review of this book without giving away major plot points, but I definitely didn’t see the end coming!
Read this if you enjoy twisty thrillers, surprise endings, a few murders, suspicious friends, and fairly isolated settings.

My second read from this Author and again another intriguing fast paced psychological thriller. The chapters go back and forth between present and past which gave a lot to the plot and backstory. The main protagonist comes off as a sort of air head but it fits the plot perfectly. Juicy twists and turns and a trigger warning of animal abuse.
Thank you to Netgalley, Harper Collins UK One more Chapter and the Author Georgina Lees for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The Lost Wife was a twisty thriller that I enjoyed.
Lea is on the run, she has her son, Josh with her, she has a badly injured arm and is needing to hide away for a few days. Something has happened as Lea was meant to be enjoying her wedding night with her husband, Harry but something has gone wrong as Harry is not with her. Lea struggles to bond with Josh on a day to day basis so is struggling now to keep the truth from him, whatever that is? Who can she trust and what has happened to make her be on the run?
This was a fast paced thriller and to be honest I didn’t know what had happened and how it was going to end. I liked how the book went back to past events so we got more of a picture of Lea and Harry’s lives. I wish Lea had made better decisions and been stronger throughout it all. There were some really good twists and finished this in no time.
I would like to thank Netgalley and HarperCollins One More Chapter for this ARC I received in exchange for an honest review.

Whoa! I think it would have been difficult for anyone to figure out this book would end the way it did! The revelations at the end were truly astonishing. While the author neatly tied up almost everything, there were I must admit a few things that weren't completely explained--mainly some of Felicity's comments and actions. However, the book was such a successful psychological thriller, I can overlook that.

The Lost Wife by Georgina Lees drew me in from the start. I was clueless for most of the book on what was actually happening and who the antagonist was. It is a dual timeline so you get small amounts of info throughout the book. It was thrilling, suspenseful and the final twist was executed so well that it was a complete surprise to me. I love a thriller that manages to keep you guessing to the end.

Ooh this was a great thriller! I really didn't know why a newly wed was on the run! She wasn't a very likeable character and made such drastic decisions - really acting in desperation while on the run from the "bad guys" . I must warn you some rather upsetting scenes happened at the cottage!
Told over two timelines , from the build up to the wedding to afterwards and a wife on the run!
It was well paced, and I was truly gripped! And as for the ending .. that plot twist I really did not see coming and I'm normally good at working out a thriller!
