Thank you for the advanced readers copy for an honest opinion

Is about a woman Lea and who has run away with her son Josh. It chronicles from present day to a year previous giving you context as to what happened.

Oh wow, definitely worth reading till the end.

Was not expecting that ending

Brilliantly put together. Told over two timelines, before and after the wedding of Lea and Harry The Lost Wife is a rollercoaster of a ride. I found myself speed reading thinking “but what happened?” “what did he do?” “what happened to her arm?” Then just when you think you’ve got it sussed bang comes the twist of all twists.
An absolute belter of a read.
I’d definitely recommend this and the author’s two previous books The Girl Upstairs and After The Party too, she’s a master storyteller

This is my first book by this author. It was a slow burn for me but I enjoyed it. I’ll give her books another try!

Undercurrent Of Menace…
Secrets, lies, control and manipulation in abundance in this slow burn domestic suspense with an undercurrent of menace and claustrophobia from the offset. Relayed successfully in dual timeline format and with multiple narratives, the reader is drawn in to a devastating plot populated with deftly drawn characters and leading to a, perhaps, shocking and unexpected twist.

I found this a bit slow if not disjointed until the last few chapters when everything came together. What a twist. Overall a suspenseful quick read.

Thank you Netgalley for this arc

Now. In the dead of night a woman and a child arrive at the cottage in the Peak District. Scared, wounded and alone they won’t be able to stay long because she knows that they are coming for her!

Then. She never planned how her life would turn out. Younger than Harry and falling pregnant quickly, although happy, Lea sometimes thought about the life she could’ve had. But when she realises there are secrets, it threatens to break them.

This book had me reeled in right from the start. It’s clear from the beginning there is a lot happening. The story is told from two perspectives, a time before and the present day which it continuously flicks between. I have to say there was a massive and really good twist in there that I 100% wasn’t expecting. I’ve really enjoyed reading it and am becoming quite a fan of this authors work. Highly recommend for any thriller fan who loved a mystery with a twist.

I read The Lost Wife over a few days but it wasn’t one of my favourite books of the year. I really couldn’t gel with the main character and found the whole book to be too slow. I’d worked out the twist but it seemed to take an age to get there. Thank you to NetGalley, Harper Collins UK One Mote Chapter and the author for the chance to review.

I really enjoyed this book and loved the suspense it built up. I didn’t see the twist coming and to be honest I’m not sure I liked it. That aside though, this book is definitely worth a read.

Yeah, okay, Georgina Lees, well played my friend, well played.

Twisty and exciting, this taut thriller grabbed me from the first page and then it just kept getting better and better.

Very highly recommend!

The book kept my attention well and the tension is nicely is being built while going back and forth from the past to the present. I do recommend this book if you like a mystery. I will not go into too much details not to give away the plot.

The only sad part is about the cottage owner and her dog. Days later, I am still saddened about it. Also, the end did not seem to fit the large built up. The twist was alright, I definitely did not see it coming but I wonder about the simplicity of it. I wish we were better explained the husband's behavior (we were not given enough substance) and I wish the explanation of her behavior was more developed. I wish I understood or was given more context to the moment where she does not stop the child from being taken. Overall, it is a good mystery book that keeps you wondering.

Thanks to Netgalley for a free copy in exchange of an honest review.

Thank you to Net Galley and Harper Collins UK one more chapter for the book the Loss wife. This book has a trigger warning for animal abuse. This book was my first book by Georginia Lees however, it might be my last. This book was just mediocre. The ending could of have written better. The characters were just ok. This was not a memorable story.

I was given this book by NetGalley for an honest review-
A page turner- a husband with a secret- a woman living with him and their child wanting to marry him- but does she? Will this make her happy? She feels as if he is trying to control her- unexplained happenings -accidents- fired from her job- how far will he go to control her? Does she really want marriage and a life like this?

The Lost Wife is an interesting tale of lies and deceit.
The story moves along fluidly but pay close attention. when you are about 5 chapters from the end. It can los you if you aren’t paying attention.

Good read and will read this author again.

Whoa!
I didn’t see this twist coming at all!!
This book was about a marriage gone bad - supposedly. The chapters were alternated between events leading up to the wedding and those events that happened after the wedding, with three (including their son) main characters - or so we are led to believe.
There is a bit of violence (including a dogs death), that was brief and not very descriptive (which was a good thing).

This was a short and quick read for me, but I had trouble putting this book down it was so suspenseful and intriguing! I am looking forward to reading more by this author!

Well this book blew my mind. I was reading it thinking what horrific event had led to this woman and her son running abused and bleeding from her own wedding and then what transpired was a story of obsession, lies and control and a twist that knocked me for six. I loved it.

This story is set over two timelines, the present, and the months leading up to present day.

The book starts off with a woman escaping from something, but what? There is a child in the back of the car, who is obviously suffering some anguish, and the woman also has injuries.

This was a very slow burner and took some getting into. I felt the story was too convoluted, with an unbelievable and unsavoury plot.

The character Lea was very unlikeable, naive and not the brightest spark, her actions left a lot to be desired!

Too many odd characters, with no real input.

The author felt it necessary to add a very long chapter explaining what had happened, rather than assuming the reader can make up their own mind. Was this suggested as the plot was so chunky and lumpy?

Not the best, with apologies to the author.

Thank you NetGalley.

This is my first time reading a book by Georgina Lees and all I can say is WOW! From cover to cover, I was hooked. This book is equal parts drama/thriller. What I love most is the brilliant, shocking ending that I couldn’t stop thinking about for days. I have already told so many people about The Lost Wife and cannot wait to read more from the talented author!

SYNOPSIS

In the present, a woman arrives at a cottage on the run because her husband was a sneaky snake. And in the past, a woman comes to terms with the fact her husband isn't who she thinks she is.

MY REVIEW

So I absolutely loved Georgina Lees' writing in After the Party, but I felt she was trying too hard to make it a thriller and I, an insignificant reader, recommended she focus more on a character-driven story. Now, do I think Lees actually read my review and said Girlwiththepinkskimask, you right!!!?? No. But regardless, this book is definitely more character driven and less like its trying to fit the mold.

Did you like Greenwich Park?? Yes?? Okay then there's an 85% chance you'll enjoy this too. If you hated that book (Kat, especially LOL), avoid! This one has a protagonist that may rub you the wrong way. Usually, I'm easily annoyed by people acting out of pocket, but its mostly because their inner monologue is so balls to the wall delusional I want to shake the silly right out of them. But in this case, the MC is quite aware of her shortcomings as a mother and doesn't talk herself up to be some kind of Wonder Woman. It's clear to the reader that the MC is a flawed protagonist. She's flawed, but in a relatable sense.

Now, the downfall of this book happens at 93%. I mean tbh 88%-93% was a lil questionable, but I could still look past it and finish the book with positive vibes. But after 93%? Absolutely not. Haterific vibes only. This is my official petition to stop Scooby Doo endings. Just PLEASE trust that your readers can put the missing puzzle pieces together. We don't actually need the baddie play-by-play after the "final showdown." Just wrap this up and let me put down my Kindle without cringing. A la Verity, we're forced to endure a tell-all letter to the victim from the baddie. But why? It always makes it worse. Some things are better left unexplained.

PROS AND CONS

Pros: great prose, feelings were felt, solid pacing, Lea is a well-developed character

Cons: Scooby Doo reveal, baddie's character fell a bit flat
