I've tried to read this book a couple of times, as I really loved the concept. it felt a little like You've Got Mail to me in a way.
However, the pacing was really off, and that was a huge stumbling block for me. I sadly could not get much further than 15% any time.
Very cute characters and easy to read! I loved the different media in the book too :) Glad I got to read it!
Thank you NetGalley and Mimi Deb!
Unfortunately I DNFed this book. It may have been a case of right book wrong time! But it wasn’t a fit for me.
Really nice boy met girl story will all the usual ups and downs that you would expect
Would recommend, especially for a summer vacation read.
After getting into this I finally feel as though this was such a cosy read, I truly cannot wait to see what else the author is going to come up with!!
This just felt like a very cute and sweet romance that was easy to get into and felt very comforting with the story development, I actually would say this is one of those books that’s perfect for reading when you’re feeling a little low as it just was very comforting!
This was a really good idea but I unfortunately had to DNF this book as I just couldn’t get into it. There initial excitement going into the book wasn’t really there. I may try this again in a few years as I loved the idea behind the book. What I did read of the book was well written and the characters were lovable, I just didn’t like where the story was going.
A good rom com read, flowed nicely. The characters were well rounded and felt really. I enjoyed following their story. I loved the notes in the takeaway, like a little cheerleader with your food! Overall would recommend for a heartwarming cute read
This book started off very slow. I was with torn between DNF or carrying on. It was an ok read but not one that I loved.
Thank y0u NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC.
Very disjointed to read. Doesn't really set the scene or characters well, so you are forever trying to work out where everyone fits in. There are obviously back stories to be told, but instead, they keep putting new details in without giving context. Could have been better.
Imagine two lonely people who meet each other through exchanging messages through takeaways,
Gia is up for taking risks and Ben is more cautious.
The premise of this book was really cute; felt like a variation of you've got a mail. However, it lost its touch a bit.. I had to drag myself to finish the book. It was not paced well enough. There were certain parts of it that I really liked, such as the office drama and how the protagonist works to make the clientele happy. But the rest of it was not interesting enough.
Didn't hit the spot for me - the pace of the book wasn't enticing enough to keep me entirely hooked and so put it down often.
"Love on the Menu" by Mimi Deb serves up a delightful rom-com that pairs a risk-taking Gia with the cautious Ben in an unexpected, heartwarming tale. Their connection begins with a mistaken delivery of Gia's New Year's resolutions to Ben's restaurant, sparking a charming exchange of notes hidden within subsequent takeout orders. Deb's narrative weaves a tale of unexpected connections and the transformative power of these notes, creating a uniquely delightful love story. With a sprinkle of serendipity and a dash of humor, this book is a delectable treat for fans of Jasmine Guillory or Beth O'Leary, offering a heartwarming escape into the world of chance encounters and budding romance.
Really original writing and a book I really enjoyed. The characters of Gia and Ben ( loved the way they met) and their supporting cast of quirky characters were well developed. Told from the perspective of the two main characters this was a romantic comedy which I would recommend
Thank you to Netgalley, Avon Books, and Mimi Deb for letting me read this book in exchange for an honest review
This was a really god idea but I unfortunately had to DNF as I just couldn’t get into it, there wasn’t any excitement initially. Maybe I’l give it another go later
Unfortunately I just did not gel with the main character. This book had such potential but it fell just short of the mark for me.
I really enjoyed this. It was an easy read and the story line kept me up turning pages into the morning. Would definitely recommend to all I know.
this book is more womens fiction than romance, i sadly found that it was very slow at the beginning and decided not to finish reading
A quick, easy and cute read that I couldn't put down. I loved the story and the characters and was rooting for them all the way through
This book focuses on two characters, Gia and Ben. They couldn't be more different but meet through exchanging notes as he works at the takeaway place she frequently orders from. I didn't enjoy this as much as I had hoped. I thought the concept was great but it was quite flow to start with and in some places really dragged. I felt like we were led to believe certain things would happen in the book and they just didn't and it left me somewhat disappointed. I liked Ben, he'd clearly faced a lot of challenges in life and wanted to make a better life for himself and others by following his dream, but had confidence issues. Gia on the other hand felt a little bratty to me? She was told information in confidence by her boss and told others, made a lot of things about herself when they didn't need to be, and it felt like in a lot of places she was just constantly becoming drunk. I thought this book from the description could have had The Flatshare vibes and it had fantastic potential, but it didn't quite reach it. I could see why some people may enjoy this, especially if they do like a slow-burn, but personally it wasn't for me.
