A perfect summertime read but a writer who perfectly creates scenes, characters and storylines many readers will love. A lovely book I devoured in an afternoon!

After the loss of her beloved Gram, Melanie is unsure of her purpose in life. In her Gram’s will there’s explicit instructions to buy the Ellis house in the little beach town they visited together every summer. The pair used to day dream of turning it into a bed and breakfast.

With her new sense of purpose Melanie takes the plunge and purchases the Ellis house, which turns out to be a huge undertaking. It’s in seriously dire need to repair and renovation.

Melanie meets local contractor Josh who is a little grumpy and not overly intent on helping her restore the old home due to a long family history of avoiding and hating the man who once owned the house… but by some miracle he decides to help her just as a hurricane is about to hit. The pair get stranded together in this dilapidated old house with nothing to do but get to know each other….

And that’s not the only thing they find out. Hidden in one of the closets are a pile of unsent love letters.
The letters play a key role in pulling Melanie and Josh together despite his initial reluctance, and the truth found in them will shake lose history, restore the beauty of love and heal some wounds.

What's not to like about this? I love the cover, the setting, and the writing--this is the perfect escape read for me. I've never read anything by Jenny Hale before, so I'm looking forward to more and appreciate the look from Forever through NetGalley.

Melanie moves to a small beach town in Florida to buy and renovate a house her beloved grandmother talked about and they shared a dream with the money left to her by her grandmother. While she is there she discovers old letters unsent that intrigues her and leads to secrets and that Mel works to solve which include mysteries of the past. A local contractor Josh who helps Melanie with the renovations becomes the love interest and romance eventually blooms between the two. It was a sweet story and the mystery aspect kept me engaged the whole time. I only wish the romance between the two characters was more developed. Good fast read, very clean reading… and you will have to find out if the Beach House is haunted or not by reading the book. Although I enjoyed it, I did feel the ending was quite abrupt and could have lead to a smoother ending.

Thank you to NetGalley, Jenny Hale, and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book

Enchanting love story told from long lost love letters.

After losing her grandmother to cancer, Melanie is looking for a fresh start. Her grandmother left her with an inheritance to buy a specific beach house in Florida. Melanie dreams of taking this shabby old home and making it into a beautiful bed and breakfast.

Josh is divorced and also looking to move from his childhood town in Florida to New York City where he can nearly triple his income for his future dreams.

Family secrets, new beginnings and long lost love shared from decades past. A beautiful story of hope, imperfect life lessons and second chances. This would make an amazing Hallmark mini series.

After the loss of her grandmother, Melanie buys an old run down house to turn it into a bed and breakfast. This is a story about starting over and building a new life. A local contractor, Josh, is helping with the renovations and a budding relationship starts to form between them.

Intertwined in the story is the mystery of the man who owned the house prior to Melanie and his connection to her. This is a heartwarming, feel good book that I couldn't put down.

Thank you to Forever (Grand Central Publishing and Netgalley for the ARC of The Beach House by Jenny Hale. I look forward to reading more of her books.

“Rosemary Bay Village, The Gulf Coast…
a Victorian style house at the end of Sandpiper Lane…
dazzling, turquoise waters of the Gulf of Mexico…
his vintage, red and white Ford truck…
the most stunning waterfall, which cascaded into a pool the colour of Seaglass…
she had to remind herself to breathe…
I waited for you…”
I was completely enraptured with this story from the first page and all the way through!

This was a fantastic book! I loved everything about it! The setting of the beach was perfect and sublime. The characters (all of them) were fabulous! The love stories were so romantic and special! My favorite character is Melanie. She inherits a beach house (how wonderful) and soon embarks on a new journey. She meets Josh who is swoon worthy! A tough guy with a kind heart. A definite must read!

Cute premise and fun setting. However, the writing didn't really pull me in the way I had hoped. On top of this, the storyline was fairly predictable. I think lovers of light beach reads will enjoy this, but it wasn't a perfect match for me.

This book was so sweet! It really made me crave summer at the beach, even with all the hard work the MCs put into the house! The story centered around Melanie, a woman who recently lost her grandmother after caring for her for three years. Grandma left Melanie a weird inheritance, with a stipulation and a mystery. Melanie quickly meets Josh and their grumpy-sunshine relationship begins. Grumpy sunshine is one of my favorite tropes, but this one felt just a tad off. Overall though, this story was lovely, and I will be seeking out more books from this author! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher's for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my honest review!

I really, really wanted to like this book but there were a few things that held me back, but I realize that mostly it's a me problem. I get that suspended disbelief is a thing in romance but two things were a bit quick for me. One, the house remodel. I know this is mostly due to my knowledge of construction so this won't bother 90% of people reading this book but there's no way a house that big with that much damage from rot and a hurricane gets fixed that quickly. A full sized back porch in a day? Complete with hand carved ornate columns?! WHAT? Two the romance really developed quickly. I get WHY but still, Josh was such a jerk most of the time that it was hard for me to root for at times. I DID LOVE the old romance in this book with Melanie's gram and the owner of the home and wish that got explored a bit more.

Thank you to NetGalley and Forever for the eARC copy of this novel in exchange for my review.

This was a sweet, beautiful story of love, family, and secrets.
Melanie, feeling lost after her grandmother's death, decides to buy a broken down beach house, the one her grandmother always loved. In over her head, she meets Josh, a local guy who begrudgingly offers to help her. When Melanie finds a stack of letters in a closet, secrets of the past are revealed, and lives in the present are effected. Can their newly developed feelings weather the storm of what is to come?
Loved the characters, the setting, and the plot flowed easily from scene to scene. Truly an enjoyable read.

As I started reading this book, it looked like a story I had read before but I kept on reading. This book was good the first time and even better the 2nd. time. It is a story about family and a little mystery and it is one of the very books that I have read a 2nd time. If you haven't read it, try it,It is a VERY GOOD READ.

This was super cute. I loved the beach town (set in Florida) and the house. I enjoyed unraveling the secrets surrounding the home as Melanie discovered and read the letters. Plus, when all the renovations were done, the house sounded amazing. I could totally picture everything!

I was all for the sweet romance with Josh and Melanie. They were cute when they were spending time together! But Josh was so hot and cold it bothered me. He was so rude most of the time like he needed to just chill. There were times were he mad me so mad by the things he was doing. Ugh! The chemistry was there between them but I didn’t think it was super strong.

Overall, this made for a cute, quick read! It’s perfect for the warmer weather coming up!

I really enjoyed this! It is the perfect summer romance but there was so much more to it I wasn't expecting. So many great topics were touched on - found family, coming of age, family relationships & drama, divorce and restarting. I was really sucked in by the mystery element and loved the flashbacks to the 50's - it was the perfect storyline with the romance accompanying it. I like books like this that are romantic fiction instead of all just romance.
I do think the relationship could have been fleshed out better, seemed like Josh went from grumpy, strictly friendship guy to wanting a relationship kind of quickly. And I could have used more character development - I really like to visualize things when I'm reading and there was barely any physical character description given for me to create that visual.
Overall definitely recommend - I flew through this in a day and I loved the twists and turns it took. Good stuff!
