Another solid, uplifting, and endearing love story from Jenny Hale. It has all of the predictable elements that make it comfortable, but enough twists to keep it interesting. A great summer read!

While it did take me a couple of chapters to start enjoying this book, it was ultimately a sweet read, perfect for beach reading.

I had a few reservations about the somewhat aggressive behavior that the male lead showed unexpectedly at times- they seemed very out of place. As I read, my rating kept swapping between a 2 and 3 star, so it's more like a 2.75. This was my first Jenny Hale novel, though I do have another on tap to compare.

I received an advanced reader copy of this book from NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

What a heartwarming story. Melanie is on a mission to unravel a mystery from the 1950’s. In doing so she unravels all of Josh’s dreams for his land. This is such a beautiful story. I felt as though I was at beach. The description of the hurricane made me feel as though I was experiencing it with them. A truly wonderfully written book!

Melanie didn't realize when her grandmother passed away how her life would change. She thought she would inherit her grandmother's house, as she had been living there and taking care of her grandmother. But her grandmother had a different plan for her granddaughter. Her grandmother left her money and wanted her to buy the house they always walked by when they were on vacation, and turn it into a bed and breakfast.
Melanie did what her grandmother wanted her to do, and she found some letters in the house she bought, and suspected the man was writing to her grandmother. Josh, who was her contractor, was in a hurry to get out of town and head for New York, but he agreed to help Melanie with fixing up the house.
There are secrets, changes, and knowing they could only continue to move forward. They didn't know what was going to happen, but they moved forward, discovering what was going to happen next.
This was another fabulous book by Jenny Hale. I received an ARC from Forever through NetGalley.

This was a sweet story about moving on after loss. The main character Melanie is thrust into turmoil when she is left to face life after the death of her beloved grandmother. Her grandmother left her some money and mentioned she should buy an old property they loved passing by on vacation, fix it up and turn it into a bed and breakfast. As Melanie works on the old home things seem unmanageable and she wants to quit many times. While struggling she meets grumpy contractor Josh. Josh starts helping her but he can’t finish the job as he is on his way out of town when they meet. As they butt heads on this project sparks fly. There is also a secret and parallel past romance in this story I enjoyed. The scenery was breathtaking and made me feel like I was right there at the beach. A sweet easy beach read. I received an ARC and this is my honest review.

This is a heartwarming story about Melanie who has inherited her grandmother’s beach house and renovates it. She meets Josh, one of her contractors and a love romance begins. She discovers letters from many years ago and learns many secrets she had no idea her grandmother was hiding. This book was a fast read and I loved reading it on this very cold day. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this book in exchange for my honest review.

A fairly predictable romance novel. The main character (Melanie) inherits a beach home from her grandmother. When she relocates to fix up the house as a B&B, she discovers her grandmother's past secrets and why this house was important to her. Along the way, she meets a contractor(Josh) who will find out how this house is a part of his life also. A short quick happy read.

This book was ok, just a bit predictable. To get the inheritance left to her by her grandmother Melanie must use it to buy and refurbish a run-down beach house, which her grandmother had always admired. Of course with the house falling down around her, she must find a contractor. This is where Josh enters the picture. You will enjoy this book if you are a fan of contemporary romance or chick-lit novels. Thanks to author Jenny Hale, Forever (Grand Central Publishing), and NetGalley. I received a complimentary copy of this ebook. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

A romantic and emotional page-turner about finding love, new beginnings, and how family is always with you.

Melanie Simpson feels lost after the passing of her gram. With an inheritance from her gram she’s returns to Rosemary Bay to buy a crumbling house and dream about restoring it into a bed and breakfast. Melanie and her gram used to visit the village every summer and daydream about the old house.

Melanie meets contractor Josh Claiborne on her first night in her new hometown and thinks Josh is the perfect person to help restore the beach house to its original glory.

Hiding in a closet is a yellowing stack of letters that could change everything. The letters reveal the mystery of the crumbling house and a long lost secret that touches everyone in Rosemary Bay.

Will its secrets bring Melanie and Josh together or tear them apart?

A beautiful and touching great summer beach read. Beautifully written.

Thank you to Netgalley, Bookouture and the author for the eARC I received in exchange for my honest opinion.

The Beach House is a perfect light summer read.
This was an emotional and engrossing read. A lovely story which was compelling from page one and carried straight through to a wonderful conclusion.
As usual with stories by this talented author, the characters are believable, their backgrounds complex and the whole story is packed with incidents that make us feel so connected to them.
I felt very connected to Melanie and honestly felt her loss. Losing her grandmother.
It is another emotive, enthralling read, that I've come to expect for Hale.
The emotion and details here was outta this world. Felt like I was watching it all unfold right before my eyes!

Oh my stars this book was just what my little heart needed! Sweet and heartfelt without being super cheesy! I will be digging into Jenny Hale’s catalog as my go-to when I need a boost.
Melanie had given up everything-her career, her old life including her fiancé, when her beloved grandmother got cancer. She moved in with her and cared for her for her last years and when she passed, her Grandmother left her an inheritance that included instructions to buy an old house in town and fix it up. Melanie didn’t understand but she followed her wishes and started renovations. She uncovers some letters that reveal secrets of the past that most of the neighbors want to keep under wraps, including the local contractor who has come to help her after she meets him while prepping for a storm. As they work on renovating the house to a B & B, they learn to trust each other and what each other could mean if they’d let the other one in. In between projects, Melanie reads more of the letters and discovers more and more about the history of the house and it’s owner, and her connection to it all.
I can’t thank the publishers and Netgalley enough for this book! I adored it and will recommend it to anyone who will listen :)

As 15” of snow was falling outside of my home, I felt the need to escape to a warmer climate…which is where The Beach House comes into play. :)

Jenny Hale’s The Beach House is a sweet and quick romantic read. Melanie buys a home in Florida that was of importance to her grandmother. Melanie unearths a collection of letters that tell a story of their own. She also unearths a large amount of needed home repairs. Luckily Josh is there.

I really enjoyed this book!

Melanie returns to Florida to the dream home that her gram always adored when they visited and she has decided to repair the house and open it as a bed and breakfast. When she heads to Florida she doesn't realize the state the home is in until she arrives and it will be quite an undertaking, but of course in walks Josh, a local who is a carpenter and after losing a bet ends up helping her get the house back up to a living standard.

This is one of those romance books that just makes you happy while reading. Of course from the beginning, Josh and Melanie aren't bitter enemies but it isn't love at first sight, so it is a slow roll for this romance and I enjoyed the journey. I loved the ups and downs that they had. They didn't feel forced but like they could have happened in real life.

A book that would be perfect for a week at the beach this summer or some days by the pool. These characters were fun and charming and who doesn't love a good home project!

Thank you to Nicole Andress (from Forever part of Grand Central Publishing) for reaching out and gifting my first widget and for NetGalley for allowing me to read the ARC.

I absolutely LOVED this book. It is full of mystery, changing up lives, finding answers and of course all romance!

You follow Josh and Melanie as they first meet in a bar and playing darts and made a bet. If Josh won he'd get a beer and if Melanie won he would help her with the house before he left town. Melanie cared for her grandmother for the last 3 years as she had cancer. Her grandmother said she had lost her in the process and that she needed to find herself again. Mentioning with her inheritance to buy the Ellis House and to turn it into a B&B. When she was younger and they visited her and her grandmother would come by and admire it. Little did she know how much was needed on the house and what she would find in herself and others in the process. Josh shows up the next morning as he said he would.... Sparks don't fly right away by its a slow burn.

If you love to be in wonder and new information that keeps you engaged the whole time. And you don't want to out it down then this book is definitely for you!

Definitely save this so you can get it when it releases April 25, 2023!
