Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this book! Below is my honest review.
Summary of plot:
Each day, starting on December 1st, there's a new story related to Christmas, Santa Claus, and reindeers! There's one about reading children's letters to Santa, one about making toys, one about a fitness test for Santa, etc.
Pros about the book:
✔️ CHRISTMAS <3
✔️ Each day is a new story, so it's similar to an advent calendar
✔️ The stories are funny and Santa is great (he's also super busy! Who knew all this effort went into Christmas gift-giving?!)
✔️ Colorful and cute illustrations
Cons about the book:
❌ I can see little ones losing interest quickly since there's a lot of text.
Would I recommend this book? Yes because I love Christmas.
Santa’s Countdown to Christmas was fun read. The illustrations are colorful and perfect for the cute story line. Realistically, as a Mom of 3, I won’t read my kids one page each day in December. This would be cute as a shorter read in one sitting as you see Santa get ready for Christmas.
Santa's Countdown to Christmas by Kim Thompson - 4 stars
Ever wonder what Santa does while waiting for the Christmas eve to arrive, well this is the story for you. As everyone at the South Pole waits for the big day, they spend their time getting ready, relaxing, working out and enjoying themselves.
As I read this Christmas story to my children, they enjoyed not just the story, but they truly loved counting down the days with the story line. The illustrations are bright, fun and definitely give you the Christmas feeling. This was a huge hit at bedtime in my house
Thank you NetGalley and Chouette Publishing for the ARC.
This was a cute story. And my kids really enjoyed it. They even asked if we could read it again closer to Christmas!
This would be the perfect book to read daily leading up to Christmas My son is young, so I’m not sure he’d appreciate all of the text, but the idea of reading one page a day at bedtime would be fun.
The story and illustrations are engaging. The story is funny. Santa is a very busy man leading up to Christmas. Children will enjoy seeing what he does each day to prepare.
I love that this is a children's book with more words in it. I also love all the drawings and graphics.
This would be such a fun book to read with kids each day in December as a countdown
Thank you so much to Chouette/ CrackBoom! Books and Netgalley for the ebook to read and review.
Santa has a long list of things to do starting on the 1st December and must cross everything off with the help of his elves and Mrs. Clause. Each day Santa will count down and cross another thing off his list.
I love the creativity of this not only was it Santa’s countdown but it’s a perfect countdown for children too. They will be getting so excited as it gets closer and closer to Christmas and this gives them and idea of what Santa could be doing in preparation for it. I can imagine this also being used along side an adventure calendar, one page a day until Santa’s list is completed.
I loved that it was comical, Santa had so many funny catch phrases, Tek the elf was always coming up with some new funny technology to improve Santas job, and Poppy the elf was getting stressed over the toys being made in time. It was all made so comical children will be giggling away whilst reading or listening to this.
It had really nice illustrations on each page and seeing what they were up to within the story is always fun, children will be inspecting the pictures I’m sure. I really loved the creativity of this and the uniqueness, I’ve not seen a Christmas book done in this way before and I really enjoyed it.
This is a perfect family read aloud book, it’s enjoyable for most ages that are excited for Christmas Day to arrive. It’s funny, nice to look at, the story is creative and it will get you all Christmassy.
I really enjoyed "Santa's Countdown to Christmas". It's set up to have a short story to read each day in December about Santa and Mrs. Claus preparing for Christmas. I think my 3.5 year old would like the book. The illustrations are very cute too. This is a book that would be fun to read as a tradition every December.
This was so sweet and fun. Its probably a little too young for most of my middle schoolers, but I am glad I read it. A new story for every day of advent is a super fun and original concept, and I'd love a YA anthology like this.
The art it in this was really delightful, and will charm young readers. I liked that this was like a backstage peek at what Santa and his elves do to prep for Christmas, and the author got really creative. There were some funny bits, like Santa's workout regime and his visit with the fashion design elves. I do wish Mrs. Claus got to do more but I was glad she was featured.
Ultimately, this was a sweet and often funny Christmas story that will be great for kiddos counting down to Christmas. Its a fun spin on Advent and will add a little excitement for readers in the leadup to Christmas. What a treat!
