This book was... not it for me, unfortunately. Insta-love and accidental pregnancy are two tropes I can just never get behind and this story prominently featured both. I did really feel for Belle and loved her as the FMC, but don't even get me started on Max. The man was red flags galore with not much redeeming him beyond his devotion to his wife.
I also couldn't get past the glaring inconsistencies throughout. The names (Danton, Dalton, couldn't keep up with who was who or if they were the same person?) and the repetitive descriptions (we don't need to know who Chloe and Grayson are nor do we need to rehash their origin stories at every mention).
However, give me a spin-off of Grayson's story and maybe tone down the sexual imagery and I am HOOKED.
Another good read
Perfect book to curl up with and to get lost in
Will have you hooked from the first page
Thanks NetGalley
I really liked this story, felt well paced and really well written. The plot and the background of the character was unique compared to what I normally read and I felt like that definitely pulled me in. The spice paired with the unique character backgrounds were thoroughly enjoyable! All in all, would definitely recommend.
This was a decent book. I think it was just fine.
The story moved quite quickly which I didn't mind so much but the underlying miscommunication just drove me insane.
The main characters were okay but Max was basically an insta love story because he mentions how he could have c*m in his pants by seeing her the first time. Not a man I want to read about tbh. Belle was okay as a character but felt like her only personality trait was her past and then becoming the perfect wife. And I can't believe everyone seemed to know her name Belle was related to Tinkerbell and not Belle from Beauty and the Beast.
The sexy scenes where okay but I have read better and it became repetitive as they are very tame lovers who do the same stuff over and over again. Also I just found it icky how spicy scenes where intimated after very emotional and traumatic experiences like it just felt wrong.
Overall an okay book to read.
the cover: a sweet romcom cover for a book with a lot going on- I love unassuming covers!
FMC: Belle- after her mother is diagnosed with a terminal illness and needing to pay for medical expenses, Belle decides to become a high-priced call girl. After turning her back on her life as a sex worker, she gets everything she has ever wanted- the husband, the child, the house- but will a visit from her old boss bring everything crumbling down?
MMC: Maxwell- the CEO of Titan Telecom who turns Belle’s life upside down after a night of comfort and amazing sex. At work he’s buttoned up, aloof, and seemingly uncaring but when he’s with Belle all that changes. I loved seeing him from Belle’s eyes and learning more about his backstory as the story progresses!
POV: 3rd person, mostly single but sometimes dual POV
HEA: yes
spice: yes there are several open-door spicy scenes… starting with the first sentence of the first chapter! Be aware that several of the scenes are depictions of the FMC with her clients and she is not happy to be there
TWs: death of parent, caring for terminally ill parent, sex work, attempted rape, abuse, accidental pregnancy, degradation, humiliation, questionable consent, blackmailing, manipulation, some taboo themes and scenes ((view spoiler))
standalone: yes but it felt like there was an opening for a story about Grayson… 😏
final thoughts: I loved the illustrations at the beginning of each chapter. Overall, I enjoyed the book but there were several scenes that gave me a bit of an ick but other readers may not agree! I went into it knowing it was going to be a little twisty but it was darker than I expected.

The sexual imagery and the focal point of the narrative was a little too graphic for me. It took over the main plotline and I had to skim through several sections that I cannot provide a more in depth review than this. I thnk it will appeal more to people who are more comfortable with such stories.
I have mixed feelings about this story. I liked the story itself, the plot had me interested enough to keep reading to find out what would happen next. Unfortunately, I found myself getting distracted by the way it was edited; when I spend time trying to re-word a sentence, or even paragraph, so that it doesn't use the same word twice, it takes me out of the story and that makes it difficult to read.
Belle's situation at the beginning of the story makes it understandable how she became an escort, I cared about her and hoped for her swift exit from that life. Her struggles later in the story made sense, and I still hoped for her to emerge unscathed. As for the spice in the story, it felt a little over the top to me, like maybe it had to be extra graphic because of what her profession used to be? I usually don't mind a little dirty spicy time, but something about it in this case bothered me.
If the author writes a follow up about side characters Grayson and Chloe, I would be keen to read it; they seem like they'd have an interesting story.
Altogether, it was a decent read. I probably wouldn't read it again, but I wouldn't deter anyone from reading it, either. As such, 4 stars seems too much and 3 seems not enough, so I'm going with a 3.5 star rating on this one.
I received this book from NetGalley and the publishers to read and review. All statements above are my true opinions after fully reading this book..
This book was cute! I’m not usually a fan of insta-love and this one was not an exception.
I really liked this book! I couldn't put it down and read it in one sitting!
Thank you to Netgalley and Crimson Folio Publishing for sending me this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for a review. Perfect by Eve Hightower is out now 💌
Hmm, I’m not sure. I have mixed feelings about this one. Yes, the story was cute, the vibes between Belle and Max were very nice and lovely, but it was sooo insta-lovey. Like, they had sex for the first time after he found her at the office crying because her mother had just died? MAJOR red flag for me. Also, this sex scene after she’s come back from a traumatic experience? Max treating here like a wh*re after she’s just come clean about her history? Red, red, red flags.
Altogether, no, the spice was definitely not for me. The love was all cute and the storyline as well, but there were just way too many red flags.
I really liked this story! The plot and the background of the character was unique compared to what I normally read. The spice along with the unique character background were great!
Perfection is overrated and this novel made me love the imperfect drama. Definitely recommending this one to all my friends!
Not your average book. This book was easy to get into and a fast read for me because I wanted to know! I would recommend it for a fast and interesting read.
Thank you to NetGalley for allowing me the opportunity to read "Perfect" written by Eve Hightower. Despite having a 3rd-person POV, the characters of Belle & Max were extremely well-written. There was a decent amount of spice as well as an accidental pregnancy trope to keep you interested throughout the duration of the novel.
Overall, I rated this novel 4/5 stars!
2.5 stars!
I'm okay with sex workers and billionaires as protagonists, but you *have to* like manipulation, miscommunication, and the accidental pregnancy trope to get into "Perfect" by Eve Hightower. I found myself interested in the story's drama, but I wouldn't say I liked the main characters, Belle and Max. Belle is pretty weak-willed and one-note (apart from the fact that she used to be an escort), and Max is the typical overbearing, brooding, "only she gets to see my smile" rich, white, male borderline-Christian-Grey-esque protagonist we've seen before. One conversation started by either of them would have rendered this book entirely useless. Luckily, "Perfect" was a breeze to finish. I finished it in about a day. As I mentioned, the drama is good, but I just couldn't help but feel annoyed at the actions of Belle and Max about 80% of the time. The steamy scenes are really good This is a raunchy book, especially in the last act. Easy blushers need not apply. It's written in the third person, which might turn some readers off, but it didn't bother me. Overall, it's fast-paced, steamy, and full of drama, but the characters irked me, which made me not love this book.
Thank you to NetGalley, Eve Hightower, and Crimson Folio Publishing for providing me with an ARC copy of this book! All opinions are my own, and I was not compensated for my review.
