This was such a sweet story!! I really adored this YA romance story. It was so sweet and even though I typically don't love YA stories, I loved this one. The characters are so lovable and you are just rooting for them!

This was very cute, but I didn’t like the ending. I get that this is a happily ever after, but Asher was so wrong to do what he did and Wren shouldn’t have taken him back. Otherwise, they were a really cute couple and I adored their relationship. I honestly think that if all the drama was Wren telling him the truth and Asher confessing that he knew, it would have been an equally great book. I would’ve loved to see Dale behind it all. I just hated how it turned out.

Kasie West’s books always capture the fun and magic of youth and Borrow My Heart is no exception. Young adult readers will love this sweet story that’s the perfect escape from reality. The characters are easy to root for and dog people will especially enjoy. The romance was sweet and the plot was fun and light but still substantial. Pairs perfectly with snuggling your pet!

A cute YA rom-com about a girl (Wren) who tries to control everything she can and a boy (Asher) she feels sorry for and tries to save from humiliating social media hijinks by pretending to be his date. It was sweet. I enjoyed the first half of it more than the second, because in these type of books the relationship always has to unravel before it can be knit back up. And that's just not so fun. But still a cute read.

Kasie West delivers another adorable YA romantic comedy. If you ever just need to get away from the world for a few hours, you can always pick up a Kasie West book, snuggle under a blanket and all will be well on your world. This one was no exception and this one included DOGS!!!

I am a big fan of Kasie West’s books, so as soon as I saw this book on NetGalley I knew I had to request it. Borrow My Heart is a very cute read and I loved most of it. The cat-fishing, Bean, the characters, the writing, all were great! What didn’t sit right with me was the resolution to the conflict, which I don’t want to spoil so I am just going to say I am not sure if it just wasn’t explained enough or if the apology just wasn’t good enough for me. Basically I still think the character who was wronged should be upset about it. 🤷‍♀️ That is just my opinion so feel free to read the book and disagree with me. I still think this book is a wonderful read that you should pick up as soon as you can, even if that means waiting until it’s release June 13, 2023 and that you should go to a shelter and adopt a pet today. No animal should have to spend a long time in a shelter before finding their forever home, so go see if you can find a wonderful fur-baby to call your very own. 😊

This is my first Kasie West book and I liked it a lot. The main characters were both refreshingly lovable & flawed. Wren is a total pessimist and I can very much relate to that. Her love for Bean showed her true heart and that made me love her that much more. I was worried that Asher was too good to be true and while I was, of course, disappointed in what he did, I was glad because it made him more human. Their surrounding cast of characters was perfect and I especially loved Asher's mom, she's the mom we all want. This was a perfect YA book that even adults will enjoy.

Oooo this was very cute and sweet and it’s gonna be such a good summer teen romance book :) I loved the relationship that grew between the two main characters, the family dynamics, the banter, and all the fresh takes and twists on some of the typical tropes. And while there were conflicts that happened, I thought they were all resolved really well!

There were a few minor things I didn’t care for (I think D&D references in books are a little too nerdy/weird, and the main girl bugged me sometimes), but overall I really liked this one!!

I enjoy Kasie West's books and always look forward to her latest releases. This one did not disappoint.

While Wren is at a coffee shop, she overhears two friends talking about meeting a date with a girl named Gemma, it quickly becomes apparent that this girl was going to be a no show. Wren decides to pretend to be Gemma to save this boy from embarrassment. What starts out as an act to save Asher from embarrassment quickly grows from friendship into more, all while Wren struggles with finding a way to tell Asher the truth.

Wren has high standards when it comes to dating and even has a list of requirements that must be met. It was nice to see Wren grow closer with Asher and learn to let her guard down. It was fun to see Wren and Asher working together at the animal shelter. One element the book explores in all this is the effect of social media and how it can get out of control.

One of the parts I really enjoyed was seeing Wren work at the animal shelter and her connection with Bean, a dog that has been at the shelter a long time and is very particular about who he likes. It was fun to see the Bean Games, a promotion that Wren and Asher developed to help Bean find his forever home. Bean was a scene stealer with all his antics.

This was a fun, cute, and quick read that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Another slay by Kasie West. I've read all her books and will continue to do so; This one is about a girl who is getting the biggest secondhand embarrassment as she's watching a boy get embarrassed by his friend for getting ghosted and possibly catfished by the girl he has been talking to. Wren comes and saves the day, pretending to be Gemma, the girl that Asher had been talking to online. Instead of immediately telling him the truth on who she really is (and isn't) Wren continues pretending to be "Gemma" as she starts to develop feelings for Asher.

What would you do if you saw someone named Asher waiting to meet his online girlfriend, but it’s obvious to you that it’s a catfish situation? And if the boy being duped is also being threatened with having his embarrassing situation posted online? Wren, watching all of this unravel before her eyes, makes a snap decision to save the catfished-boy by pretending to be the girl he’s waiting for. This is not at all normal behavior for Wren, who adores rules. She plans on revealing the truth, so what could go wrong? As Wren and Asher meet up more and more throughout the story, things become complicated in more ways than one because Wren actually genuinely likes Asher.

I’m giving this 4 stars, but it’s a roundup from 3.5. I didn’t connect with Wren, and this book just lacked the charm that I’ve come to adore and expect from Kasie West after devouring all of her previous work. I will say there is a great twist in this story, which is why I don’t mind rounding up my rating. But I was pretty bored and thrown off by the first half of the book since I’m so used to getting instantly sucked in. Borrow My Heart definitely has some good moments, so if you’re wanting a quick and easy read, it’s not a bad option. But it wouldn’t be the first Kasie West book I’d recommend by a long shot.

Another great book by Kasie West. Her characters are relatable. I’ve always loved the sarcastic banter she has in her books and this one does not disappoint. I laughed out loud so many times. I really enjoyed the chemistry between Asher and Wren. Great story then she added dogs and it became perfect!

3.5 stars. This was a cute YA rom-com that was a quick read. I was excited about the storyline of Wren stepping in to save Asher from being catfished and therefore humiliated by his friend on TikTok, but it ended up just being an okay part of the story. While I liked how Asher and Wren's relationship developed, the big reveal of the catfishing was a little bit of a let down as it felt like everyone just brushed it off. I kind of hoped there was going to be way more drama, which would have been a better conflict between Wren an Asher than the twist at the end. The twist to me felt a bit unexpected and forced because there had to be some kind of conflict between Wren and Asher since there wasn't any with the reveal of the catfishing.

Overall, the story was a fun read and I loved Wren's people-hating cynical outlook (totally reminded me of me at that age!). By far my favorite part of this book was Bean's story and his journey to getting adopted. HIs "jerk" attitude that matched Wren's was so much fun and I loved what it brought to this story.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this novel.

This was a fun and quick read. It explores some of the issues that go along with social media and impact on teenagers. If you like dogs and puppy love, this book is for you.

I adore Kasie West books. And dogs make everything better, even books.
For some reason, I really empathized with Wren and cried quite a bit during the second half of this book.
(Nothing bad happened to any dogs! I promise)
Recommended.

This was pretty cute, but there was really nothing memorable about to to bump it from an average 3 stars for me. I identified a lot with Wren's pessimistic (realistic) views on life and her sarcastic humor used as a coping mechanism. It was like reading a book about teenage me, except I would never like dogs enough to have a job surrounded by them. But she does, and the lead dog character, Bean, won me over for sure. The lead characters' relationship progressed well and I loved their "nerdy" (their word, not mine) banter as they got to know each other.

Unfortunately, the big reveal/miscommunication/lie confused me, and I felt like everyone was forgiven a little too easily to be realistic.

I am usually a big fan of Kasie West, but this one feels a bit.. meh in comparison to some of her others.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this in exchange for my honest review.

I really enjoyed the story of Wren and Asher in this novel. I loved the premise that Wren steps in to save Asher from his friend humiliating him due to being catfished. At times the storyline did feel a bit confusing and the big reveal and "conflict" at the end when they both make confessions and didn't always add up, but overall it was a fun little romcom.

I will say the most engaging plotline was the one with Wren and her family, particularly as she dealt with having a really shitty mother and how she navigated her very complicated feelings about that while still maintaining a relationship with her dad/sister.

Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC for a review.
