Kasie West's contemporary novels are some of my favorites—full of well-developed characters, nuanced arcs, and the kind of hijinks we all always dreamed of. Loved this new one!
Kasie West never fails to deliver! I always look forward to her releases, and the cover of Borrow My Heart drew me in the first time I ever saw it. And of course, the inside of the book was just as adorable as the outside. ♥️
Wren and Asher were the absolute cutest! I loved seeing the feeling grow between them..The concept of fake-dating in the plotline was really unique. I loved how the author added her own twist to this very popular trope. The book was enjoyable through and through ~ and I cannot recommend it enough!!
I’ve gotta stop getting YA romcoms. I think I’m just too grown, and I hate it! I loved the idea of girl saves the day and the boy, but it just wasn’t… good. It was hard to follow, choppy to read, and just didn’t capture my attention. I will say I loved the animal aspect, because who doesn’t? But I just couldn’t deal. Thanks for the opportunity to read!
*Thank you to the publisher and Net Galley for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was a cute story! I’m so happy that I got to read it and experience it.
3.5 stars, rounded up.
This is a pretty cute, solid YA contemporary. My biggest issue with it was the huge lie the entire relationship starts with that doesn't get resolved until well over halfway through the book. I loved the animal shelter and Wren's love for animals that was woven through the story. I also enjoyed Wren and Kamala's friendship. This was a cute quick read!

This was a cute little YA romance! It was easy to get through with a cute plot but definitely cheesy. I would recommend it for a light read that doesn’t require too much focus! My favorite character was the dog 😂🐶
This is such a cute, sweet, clean teen romance story. The characters are lovable and the author pulls you in, so you experience the characters dilemmas with them. Highly recommend for ages 9-13 ish.
This was a cute book that followed a well-worn trope but executed it well. It captured the messiness of pretending to be someone you're not -- in more ways than one -- and had a satisfying resolution.
This was a really sweet ya book full of love laughs and doggies. A win to me. I can’t wait to read more by this author.
I sat down, opened up "Borrow My Heart" by Kasie West and couldn't put it down until I was done. Start to finish this was such a fun, feel good, book. And I may have cried at one point where a certain (un)loveable dog was concerned.
I don't think it's a spoiler to say that this entire book is based on a miscommunication trope which I generally do not enjoy, but Kasie managed to pull it off! It helps that this is a YA contemporary romance and so I tend to give the characters a little more slack in the "characters not doing what I think they should be doing" department.
Wren, despite making some less than ideal decisions is actually a very mature character who had to grow up too soon due to some big familial issues. Asher is a loveable, kind, trusting super hero kind of guy and I absolutely loved his character and the way he helped Wren drop her walls by simply being himself. The friend group was just as fun as the main characters and I'm rooting for a second book in this series featuring some best friends (or a short side story, I'll take whatever you'll give me Kasie!)
It's been a little while since a story was able to draw me in and keep me interested from start to finish so thank you SO much for that. This was an absolutely delightful story that I will be sure to recommend to others.
Thank you @netgalley and Kasie West for this advanced reader copy! It was so good.
This was such a sweet story and I loved that it included a quirky dog. A quick, but fun read perfect for teens or adults.
This was a really cute read, and I enjoyed it but I think it was just missing a little something. Not totally sure what it was, but the first half/two thirds of the book, while really sweet, were pretty uneventful. The last third was a lot more interesting, which kept me intrigued, but it just seemed a little too late in the book. I liked the characters and the development we saw with Wren as her relationship with Asher grew. And I did think it was a sweet read. If you are a Kasie West fan or like sweet YA romances, this is a perfect book for you.
I didn't feel like we got a very good reason why our FMC decided to help out the MMC. His friend was making fun of him and she felt like helping out a stranger? I don't know. That felt weak to me. And since that was the main plot of the book, it wasn't off to a great start.
That, coupled with writing that I don't feel like is West's best, made me not want to finish this book.
This made for an endearing read! Despite its somewhat implausible nature, I found the concept appealing.
The characters were endearing, and I particularly enjoyed the dog shelter and Bean. Being fond of dogs,
I'm always drawn to narratives featuring adorable canines. While it may not be my top Kasie West book, it was an enjoyable experience nonetheless!
A girl after my own heart - making lists for life!
Wren thinks she has it all planned out for the future boyfriend; the rules she has to follow when it comes to finding one. Until she's thrown for a spin when Asher walks into the coffee shop she's in. Asher is waiting for a girl he met online. She never shows. Wren pretends to be the girl.
There are dogs (the cover is adorable), volunteering, social media, friendships and love. I honestly really loved this book. It took me only a few days to read and I really fell for the story line and the characters.
I love Kasie West, but this wasn't my favorite of her books. I did like that it tackled some heavy themes like catfishing and relationship problems, but I could not get behind Wren. She has issues with control, which I relate to and she loves animals (me too!) but there was something extremely juvenile about her character. I know she's in high school and all, but this sort of read like a middle-grade book. Some of the writing was choppy and weird and didn't feel like Kasie West at all.
The book fell flat for me, but I think those looking for a cute, fluffy book will enjoy it.
Ugh I loved this one so much! A short, fun, fast, heartfelt read about wren who has always had walls up ever since her mother left her father and sister.
But one day she sees Asher getting picked on by his best friend in the coffee shop her bestie Kamala works at, wren has enough of seeing Asher get stood up by his cat fish and she plays the hero and saves him! We then get to see wren and Asher blossom into a relationship that was so adorable yet messed up in a way?
I also adored how there was dogs involved and how hard it can be to get adopted by someone which made my heart ache.
I thought this was so cute and fluffy, and i really enjoyed it. So far I haven’t read a Kasie West book I didn’t enjoy. Thank you for the chance to read it.
Borrow My Heart is the first book in the Borrow My Heart series written by Kasie West. I know many people didn't exactly love this book, but it was so fluffy and cute, I absolutely loved and adored it so much. I didn't know I needed this fluffy book in my life, but when I read it in one sitting, I knew it was the best decision to pick it up. As many of you know, I absolutely LOVE FUR BABIES so when I saw the cover I knew I needed to read this book immediately. The cover is so beautiful and colorful, I just needed this book in my life. Borrow My Heart is a YA romance, and let me just tell you, these characters acted way more mature than grown ass men do in adult romances. Borrow My Heart is such a very real and relatable book that I feel like everyone at some point in their lives can connect with this story, it deals with a lot of topics that many young adults struggle with such as the negative aspects of social media, relationships, parental issues, and catfishing. Kasie West sure knows how to write light hearted, feel good romance novels that always capture my heart, she writes the most realistic characters. Please do yourself a huge favor and read Borrow My Heart immediately. As a rescue dog owner myself, I loved the dogs in this book with my entire heart. I didn't expect to cry reading a light hearted romance, but let me just tell you, I actually sobbed.

Borrow My Heart gut punched my heart on a personal level. As many of you don't know, I lost my fur baby Morgan, September 19th, 2019. Morgan was a beautiful, fluffy border collie. She was my first ever dog, she was there throughout my childhood years into my teenage years. Morgan was loving, adorable, and overall a sweet girl. On September 19th, 2019, Morgan was taken into doggy heaven because she had congested heart failure. There's nothing more painful than seeing your dog in so much pain and suffering because something is eating at their heart. I was devastated and so broken hearted after saying goodbye to her, but in October of 2019, I found my sweet boy and emotional support dog, Rufus. That boy is absolutely crazy, but I love him more than anything. NO DOGS DIE IN THIS BOOK but, the main characters do so much for dogs and adopting them, it just warmed my heart so much. I loved this book so much because it connected with me on personal level, not because of the romance. Despite no pups dying in this book, one of the dogs was adopted and the main character never got to say goodbye. I had the opportunity to say goodbye to my fur baby, but the character didn't and it truly broke my heart.
Wren is so used to being called a control freak, she is a list girlie. Wren has lists for EVERYTHING, and I mean EVERYTHING. Wren has a list for school, a list for shopping, but she created a list of dating rules that she created for herself that helps her navigate life. When a cute guy named Asher walks through the neighborhood coffee shop where Wren hangs out because her best friend works there, Wren's dating rule book gets thrown out the window. Asher is absolutely adorable and charming, but he's being catfished by his online crush. Wren overhears Asher and his best friend talking over this situation. When Wren overhears that Asher is being stoodup, Wren makes a completely impulsive decision, Wren pretends to be the girl Asher is waiting for to save him from the embarrassment. Asher has no entire clue what is going on, he thinks Wren is his online crush. Wren had me completely stressed out, when would she ever tell Asher who she is? Asher and Wren spend so much time together, Asher even gets a job at the animal shelter where Wren works. These two characters were so mature for their age, it was actually adorable to witness. Eventually, Wren comes clean with Asher, but instead of being butt hurt, Asher is completely happy with Wren. Ugh, I just loved these characters and this book so so much.
Borrow My Heart is a delightful romance you will not want to put down. The story draws on familiar tropes but the characters are so fun that their antics seem new and engaging. This is a perfect read for teens who want to relax and enjoy a good love story with a happy ending.
