Whimsical and magical are just some of the words that I'll use to describe this amazing graphic novel. Gnome and rat is a definitely must-have in your home. It's full of amazing illustrations and shows us just how charming all the characters are.
Best friends Gnome and Rat live deep in a magical forest filled with the cutest enchanting creatures. They go to picnics and have the loveliest of adventures. I am so thrilled that it will be a series and can't wait to keep reading about them. As a child, I'd always loved to read about magical forests and gnomes. If you remember David the gnome, you'll absolutely love this fantastical story.
I never knew I needed a rat wearing a hat topped with a dinosaur wearing a hat— but now I have it and I’m never giving it up!
I absolutely love this graphic novel from Lauren Stohler. The humor is silly in a way that kids will love, but also has a tone that will resonate for adults sharing the book. I cannot wait to recommend this to so many readers in our shop!
I recived an ARC of this book through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
This could be the single most adorable book I have ever read. And I've read a lot of books. Like, a lot. We keep rats as pets, so my kids are going to go nuts over this. But it's not just a pretty face! The story teaches about friendship and self love. And the illustrations are so spot on. I will definitely purchase this book for the library where I work, and will probably spring for it for my personal library, as well.
This was soooooo cute! Rat and gnome are the best of friends and they are just there for each other. 100% read this or read it to children
This is a cute early reader book. The short stories are fine, but I did not love it. My favorite part was the beards illustration at the end.
I AM GNOME. My friend is Rat. Eerily accurate of our friendship in the best ways.
Overall a very cute and silly early graphic novel. Looking forward to more from this duo.
Thank you @netgalley for the ARC of "Gnome and Rat" by Lauren Stouler. This is a cute little picture book. The Gnome and rat are both quite funny.
Gnome and Rat by Lauren Stohler is a short and adorable romp with the titular friends and various hat-related adventures. The stories are short and wholesome, a perfect book for reluctant readers.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC.
This is a silly comic book style book about Gnome and his friend Rat. The book is about their adventures together mostly centered around Gnome's hat. It's very silly and fun and personally I love it cause I absolutely love gnome's so a book centered around gnomes is right up my alley. This is a book that is perfect for kiddo's to read with lots of bright silly illustrations to follow along with.
Thank you to NetGalley for the advance copy for review.
This early graphic novel will be a winner in the classroom. It will fit right in with lovers of Narwhal and Jelly. Follow Gnome and Rat on their various adventures that are sure to have you laughing.
What a cute and funny little graphic novel! Gnome is as silly and funny as rat is wise and sarcastic. The illustrations are adorable and the story is divided into 5 sweet short chapters. Perfect for early readers!
This is a cute early reader's graphic novel about Gnome and Rat, who have many adventures involving Gnome's hat.
It's cute, it's silly, it has beautiful pictures, there also isn't a lot there? Which isn't a bad thing, especially for early readers, I think I was expecting less hat related adventures, and more adventures involving Gnome and Rat. Though they do have a loving and supportive friendship which is beautiful. Great start to a new series.
This was a cute and quick read. I would recommend it to young children around the age of 6. It was a cute book for boys and girls with memorable and fun characters.
This was a super cute graphic novel following the adorable adventures of a gnome and his friend the rat. Most of them involved shenanigans to do with Gnome's hat and how to get it back. It was very wholesome and fun and the illustrations were lovely. Definitely recommenced for the particular age group and beyond!
Thanks to Random House Children's, Knopf Books for Young Readers and NetGalley for the advanced readers copy! #GnomeandRat #NetGalley
This is a cute graphic novel. I thought the stories highlighted friendship. I liked how the hat of the Gnome played a part in every story. I even enjoyed the drawing at the beginning that showed the house they shared. The characters not only showed how to be a good friend but were also really fun to read. I liked the graphics, thought they were well drawn and fit with the words the characters were expressing. I thought the storylines were appropriate for the age group. I think children will enjoy these characters and enjoy a few laughs while reading their silly adventures.
It's an adorable little book with cute and wholesome characters. If I had to complain about anything, it would be that Rat doesn't get enough time on the page. I expected that at least one of the stories would feature Rat, but they're all very Gnome forward. It makes me wonder about the reciprocity of their friendship if Gnome seems to be the star of the show the whole time.
Super cute for younger or middle grade readers. The art is adorable and really conveys the silliness and whimsical nature of the adventures of Gnome and Rat! I thought it was a blast.
A fast paced cozy read about two unlikely best friends, a gnome and a rat. The book is told in short stories that connect together. Their friendship is shown throughout, specifically in always finding or improving Gnome’s hat. I think this book will be a new favorite for many 2-4th grade students!
Thanks to Random House Children's, Knopf Books for Young Readers and NetGalley for the advanced readers copy.
This was just a delight! Gnome and Rat are housemates in a super cute cottage. Gnome, his hat, and his antics take center stage with Rat being a patient and supportive friend. The illustrations were wonderful! The short stories were perfect length for younger readers with jokes that will make adults laugh too. I can't wait for more of these books!
This was a really fun elementary level graphic novel. It would fit nicely in collections such as Norwall and jelly. It has simple concept to understand is full color and is very tongue-in-cheek. Kids are going to love it. Can’t wait for volume to to find out what Noem does for his birthday.
