The art in this beginner graphic novel is oh-so-adorable. I enjoyed the setting and the concept of a gnome and rat as friends. I wish that the dynamic of their friendship had been explored a bit more. I also wish I had gotten to know Rat a little better (maybe as the focal point of one of the short stories). The stories focus on Gnome's hat became a bit repetitive. However, i think that this is a great beginner graphic novel and I look forward to seeing more of Gnome and Rat's adventures.
OMG this little book of stories about a Gnome, a Rat, and gnome's many hats will serve up the cottage core vibes you get from Frog and Toad. Precious. I can't wait to read more stories about Gnome and Rat.
Note: I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley. I was not compensated in any other fashion for the review and the opinions reflected below are entirely my own. Special thanks to the publisher and author for providing the copy.
A big thank-you to NetGalley, the author, and publisher for giving me a copy of this book for an unbiased review.
3/5 - Liked it.
This was a very cute book with the adventures of Gnome and Rat, focused largely on Gnome's attachment to his hat. The illustrations were beautiful and whimsical and I enjoyed the comic style of the book.
The reason I have not rated it higher is because there really isn't much in the way of things happening to the friends other than various misadventures with Gnome's hat. I would have liked to have seen more in terms of a varied plot. However, as a quick read this book is enjoyable and well-suited for younger readers (or lovers of gnomes!)
An adorable and colorful book about two friends and their adventures involving Gnome's hat. We get to see how much Rat cares about his friend and also how important Gnome's hat is to him and how much Rat not only understands this but respects it.
10/10 will read anything with a rodent on the cover so is it any surprise I enjoyed this one?
What a sweet and charming book! I adored the duo's friendship and how Rat is such a good support system for Gnome. I was expecting more of a narrative but this is actually more cute comics collection than graphic novel with a plot. Perfect for light reading and I can't wait to follow the characters on more adventures!
A super sweet story about the adventures of Gnome and Rate, two housemates who enjoy their everyday lives, The artwork in this is absolutely adorable and definitely was cute and cheerful. The stories in this were short and sweet and I think this would make a great read for kids!
*Thanks Netgalley and Random House Children's, Knopf Books for Young Readers for sending me an arc in exchange for an honest review*
Wondering if Gnome & Rat have an extra room in their mushroom house...I want to move in :)
OMG! this graphic novel is out of this world adorable. The illustrations, the storyline, Gnome and RAT!
So much fun between these pages, young readers are going to love reading this graphic novel, and they are SURE to fall in love with Gnome & Rat.
A laugh out loud graphic novel for your young reader- get your copy as soon as possible!!
Grateful to have received a digital copy of this book from NetGalley & Random House Children's, Knopf Books for Young Readers.
Whimsical, silly, magical! I just loved it. I thought it was so cute... I am partial to gnomes and rats, though. It's rare you find simple stories that aren't too easy and hard to stomach for older readers. I think this one is just right!
This was an adorable graphic novel about Gnome and his friend Rat, and many Hat related adventures! Each chapter was a short story, and each one was awesome! I loved the art, and it was fun to see what adventures these two got into!
I was given an advanced reader's copy via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own
Gnome and Rat is absolutely delightful, and hilarious to boot! I found myself chuckling on just about every page.
A cute easy to read graphic novel about Gnome and his friend/roommate Rat. Most of the adventures revolve around silliness Gnome has gotten into like losing his hat, and his friend Rat is the voice of reason to help along the way! I received my copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
