I know after reading this that Mieri had a very hard time. But the care and attention she poured into healing and learning to love herself is so inspiring. And somehow, even though a lot of this story breaks my heart for her, she's managed to keep a lighthearted tone in retelling her story.

I think a lot of teens and adults are going to relate to her. In fact, from what she's said about posting this manga online, a lot of people DO relate to her story. Loneliness and wanting to be loved are so hard to experience. And I think Ash really wasn't healthy for her, but Meiri learned to stop relying on other people to give her value.

This manga is so sweet. It's a beautiful reminder to be your own biggest fan. I absolutely love that. Thank you Mieri for sharing your story ❤️

This was a really good book on a lot of levels, and I'm not just saying that because I was nodding along as I was reading. going, "yep, I know friends exactly like that" and, "also me, Mieri." The heart, humor, and hurt all work together well. She may have felt she was yelling into a void while writing this manga, but it clearly resonates, especially with other LGBTQIA+ readers. It was nice to see the wonderful ups and painful downs of a short, but extremely meaningful relationship, and just how much work it can take to get over it and piece yourself together again. I hope I get to read another of her works one day!

"The Girl That Can't Get a Girlfriend" was a highly relatable and entertaining autobiography about the author's dating experience during the tail end of college. I found myself relating to a lot of the author's experiences. It was a very nice, emotional read and I with the author best of luck in the future.

This was a fun and relatable account of a woman’s experience of finding and losing her first love as a butch woman and then learning how to put herself first and growing into a better version of herself.

It’s always nice to read relatable accounts of other people’s life and dating experiences so you know you’re not the only one out there going through life that way.

The illustrations were fun and added a comedic tone to parts of her story that I think helped highlight the sadder moments.

Do you enjoy books/manga that make you cry, are based on true stories, and have fun and pretty-aesthetic art styles?
Then The Girl That Can't Get a Girlfriend is the perfect match for you.

The story encompasses the best and worst parts of relationships. It shows the difficulties in finding a partner, how the feeling of love can give you adrenaline and make you feel like you're valued and special, and finally how love can be incredibly cruel (Thank you Selena Gomez for playing "People You Know" in my head right now).

The story really hit hard for me, because a lot of emotions and feelings I have experienced in my lifetime, Mieri had experienced in her lifetime as well. A swell of emotions stirred in me, and I cried an awful lot because it's nice to not feel so alone, but it also sucks to see someone else struggling. From feeling like you need to change to be liked to having your heart shattered in a relationship that you thought would be final (Here's to us... the people who got their hearts broken because "long distance").

And to Mieri, I hope we get a sequel someday. <3

I followed this manga online and was thrilled to see that it’s getting officially published! Mieri’s writing is extremely relatable and the new chapters wrap the story up with a great message about confidence and self love. I look forward to seeing this book on the shelf in my store and recommending it to customers!

This is a great manga memoir about early relationships, mental health (particularly depression), and learning to live for yourself rather than codependent relationships. It's about finding fulfillment in your own interests and life, and it was very well-excecuted (never preachy or tedious).
