I received an arc copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it. I feel like this author is a hit or miss and this was a miss for me. I found it too slow and did not come close to even finishing.

A bout of the flu, followed by Covid, then vertigo, then a relapse on the flu was a twist I never saw coming.....and perhaps it was my illness but I never saw the big twist in this one either. K.L.Slater is one of my favourite writers, but I had to give myself a bit of a break as at one point I was reading everything she wrote. And the lady is a prolific writer. Nearly 20 books since 2016! I’ve read a couple books by this author and it’s been hit and miss. This was a miss. The dual timelines were confusing at times. The plot didn’t draw me in and the ending seemed far fetched and pretty rushed.

Still giving it three stars because others may enjoy it. But I wouldn’t recommend this to others and I’m not sure if I’ll read anything else by this author.

I received this book free of charge from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review

I'm not sure how this is possible, but this is my first novel from this prolific author, and I really enjoyed it! I happened to read two books in a row that started with a similar premise (someone trapped in a room), and I now have a new category in my mind of "trapped woman" stories.

In this one, we follow the parallel stories of Phillipa, the rich and famous author of a successful thriller series, and Eve, her series' audiobooks narrator. They have gotten to know each other a bit over the years of working together, but never quite in the way as this last novel. Our story starts the night of an award ceremony where she is expected to win top honors -- our writer is kidnapped, and never makes it to the ceremony. Eve is instrumental in finding out exactly what has happened.

Will absolutely recommend KL Slater to others, and will read her other books! 4/5 stars

I was a bit excited to read this however it wasn't as exciting as I had anticipated. It was still worth reading. I just wish it would have been a bit more of an 'edge of your seat' type of thriller. It was hard for me to predict and that's always makes for a good book in my opinion.

"The Narrator" is the first book I've read by K.L Slater.

I love thrillers.... but this one was a little on the slower side for me. Yes there were a lot of twists and turns. But it never grabbed me. The ending was a complete surprise and out of left field.

I loved that Eve is an audiobook narrator. That just fascinates me. Actually the little bit of detail on how a highly anticipated book in a series might be handled at the publishing house was interesting. This is not my first read by the author and I always enjoy her books. This one was no exception. I read it in a day and was quite captivated by the story.

A mysterious new manuscript by a missing author that is part of a wildly popular series. The book is an easy read, but the plot is layered in intricate by the time it all unfolds. At the end, I had to go back to the beginning and skim through part of the book to see what I missed. That’s always a good sign in a suspenseful mystery. I am not easliy tricked.

In addition to the manuscript, Eve is having difficulties with her ex and is still reeling from her father’s death. She plays a little bit of an amateur sleuth and tries to do what no one else has been able to and find out what happened to the missing author. And as it always turns out for an amateur detective, trouble ensues.

A quick read that kept me guessing. If you like layered plots that unfold, you should give this one a read.

What a wonderful story written by K.L. Slater who is such a talented author!
This book is a real treat! Since I spend hundred of hours listening on Audible to books by very talented narrators, I was intrigued with this storyline involving a narrator and therefore delving into their world.
As ever, this author did not disappoint and you soon get transported in the fascinating world of narrators, publishers and authors all within a wonderful mystery plot.
This is a wonderful book, a pleasure to read and I can't recommend it highly enough...

Yet again, this author manages to pull the reader hook line and sinker into the story and brings an amazing cliff hanger right at the end. Very enjoyable read

KL Slater is one of the best psychological authors in the world today, and this book is no exception. Packed full of twists and turns with an explosive ending. Definitely a recommended read.

When a new manuscript, written by an author who disappeared a year ago, is uncovered, Eve is called to come in and once again be the audiobook narrator. Since Eve hasn’t really worked since Philippa vanished she must agree to this opportunity. Leaving her daughter with her mother while she travels to London to work she is blindsided by her ex who comes and takes their daughter home with him while Eve works. On top of that, the manuscript she receives is anything but how Philippa has written all the other books in the series. A slow setup for an explosive ending.

Oh my goodness this book just wouldn’t be put down. I couldn’t stop reading it until I’d finished it, it had me gripped all the way through. Definitely five stars or more. A brilliant read. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

Another fab book from K L Slater. I particularly liked how this story was based around audiobook narration and books in general.

I always describe Slater as Queen of the house wife thriller. Such fab easy reading style books with the perfect amount of suspense and thrill. This was no exception.

The twist was really good! I thought I had the book worked out but I was so wrong. I actually had to read a few chapters twice to make sure I hadn’t missed it once the twist was revealed.

Thank you for this arc NetGalley.

I would like to thank Bookouture for the DAC of The Narrator by K.L Slater and NetGalley
I found this book really hard to get through to the ending, but I did I thought it was really boring and the pay off wasn’t good at the end. The book dragged on forever to get to the conclusion. The twist wasn’t a great one at all I found it boring and the characters week.

Fantastic!! The Narrator by K.L. Slater really hits the sweet spot for me. The set-up of an audible book narrator and a missing author is perfect for book lovers like me, and the twists and turns- oh my. Nobody does twisty psychological thrillers better than this author, and once again she delivers a mind-blowing read as Eve sleuths out what happened to Phillipa while struggling to deal with her ex. Do not miss this!

I loved this so much! I couldn’t even love it any more. The premise really caught my interest as I love reading anything that has to do with books. I don’t know much about audiobooks so it was cool to learn a bit about them. This was well paced and I was enraptured.
