"If everything women do is invisible, people have an excuse to erase them." Andrea Dunlop (We Came Here to Forget) weaves this theme across the stories of the three women, connected via the man they (used to, or maybe still) love, at the center of Women Are the Fiercest Creatures.
"This is what a feminist looks like?" writes a journalist in a scathing feature article about Jake Sarnoff, "a straight white male tech impresario longing to distance himself from any of the negative associations with those identity labels," and the social media app he's about to make public. She's right to question him. Jake's actions speak louder than his words: he's left Anna, his first wife and mother of his two teen sons, and married Jessica, a much younger Instagram influencer now expecting their child. Also in the mix is Sam, his college sweetheart, with whom he had a brief affair again somewhere in the midst of his marriage to Anna. It's not just Jake's interpersonal relationships that are messy but also the ways in which he draws these women into supporting him and his business: "For years, his selfishness had been burnished by the various people in his life... orbiting around him like planets, always subject to his pull." As the women in Jake's life break free of his pull, they discover, individually and as a collective, their fierceness. And while Jake's comeuppance at the end of the smart and provocative Women Are the Fiercest Creatures feels predictable and a little tidy, it is also immensely satisfying to see these nuanced, imperfect women thrive in a male-dominated world. --Kerry McHugh, freelance writer, for Shelf Awareness for Readers
So this was an interesting book that i had no idea going in what i was getting into but the twists and turns this story kept me captivated. Really enjoyed this story
Thanks publisher and netgalley for letting me read this arc.

If we had half stars, this would be at 2.5 but I just couldn't make the jump to a solid 3 stars. While this book is being lauded as a book showing women fighting back and being strong (fierce), I read a book about women who just melted under the attention of a man without any regard for themselves. Anna, the ex-wife, specifically annoyed me in this area. Perhaps this is why I can't stand romance books? But this wasn't supposed to be a romance book and it isn't. This is supposed to be a book about female power! .But it isn't. The first 90% of the book is building up to some type of take down of Jake regarding the germination of his start-up, Strangers, that is about to go public. It is all super slow moving and I was okay with that because I expected to get my big "ta-da" at the end. But instead, the last 10% goes off on a completely difference tangent and everything that the entire story has been leading too is suddenly a sub-plot or after thought. The main story of these women getting their revenge is wrapped up in a few pages as a summary. I was so disappointed! The entire diversion could have been left out of the book and those pages used to detail the domino effect of Jake's comeuppance.
This book was a great read.I did not want to put it down. The book really proves women are fierce. The book takes place in Seattle. The book show how one man Jake Sarnoff treated 3 different woman and his sons,. A great story that show secrets can destroy families. A must read to 2023.
Oh my gosh. I absolutely loved this. Love, heartbreak, family... It really hits all of the feelings!! I will be recommending this to all my friends!
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this arc in exchange for an honest review!!
Thank you Netgalley for this ARC of Women are the Fiercest Creatures by Andrea Dunlop.
This is the story of how deeply affected three women are by the same charismatic, powerful man. One is married to him, one WAS married to him, and one is now raising his child. And all of them are protecting him in different ways.
I love/hate stories like this. I love them because I'm always here for a story about strong women. I hate it because I know that to this day there are always those men who have an orbit of women, even strong ones, within their grasp, it just hit too true! But I love what this story did with that, and it was just a good book to boot!
Short synopsis: Three women, and the Tech mogul Jake Sarnoff whose slighted them all. Told in alternating perspectives between these women, the challenges they are facing, and the strength they show to get through.
My thoughts: For some reason I was under the impression this was a thriller/mystery. It probably due to the prologue that ends in a missing child? But this was more contemporary fiction with a small mystery element.
I enjoyed the stories of each of the women and all they were struggling through. It’s a fresh perspective for real motherhood, all the good bad and the ugly. Especially new motherhood. It’s hard. It’s raw. It’s exhausting.
I did get a little bored through the tech talk, it was a little overdone in my opinion but at the same time interesting to see the behind the scenes of a social media come to life.
Read if you love:
- Alternating perspectives
- Motherhood and the challenges that come along with it
- Strong female protagonist
- Learning your own strengths
Thank you to Zibby Books for the copy of this book, and the reminder that Women really are the Fiercest Creatures! Pub date was March 7, 2023 so this is out now!
The intersecting lives of three women all involved in one way or another with a self-centered tech mogul. Set outside of Seattle. An engaging read. Good for a cozy weekend curled up with a book.
This book was hard to put down! So many strong female characters that were so well developed I felt like they were real people. This book would make for some great book club discussions!
I dare you to read the prologue and not postpone the rest of your to-do list until you’ve read this book. =) It is that good. In it, we meet Anna, Sam and Jessica, three women who have fallen for the same man at different points of their lives and have paid the price for it. As each of them reckon with the choices they’ve made and dare to think about a different future, we see how their stories come together in powerfully shocking ways. Women really are the fiercest creatures and this book embodies that belief. It’s a must read.
I loved this story and page turner of a novel. Each character felt so fully developed and complex within such a short narrative. Each women is strong and vulnerable in their own ways but offers different dynamics of what it means to be a mother and a woman. I have already recommended this to so many friends. You will not be disappointed.
Really enjoyed this domestic thriller from the viewpoints of 3 women who had entanglements with a untrustworthy tech billionaire. If I had one complaint, it would be the ending was abrupt. Then again, I didn't see it coming.....
The book centers around three women and Jake, a man who is connected to all three. Anna, recently divorced from Jake. Jessica, Jake's new wife, and Samanta, a woman who runs a yoga studio and fairly new to town.
An interesting story about three women who have at various stages of their lives had involvement with one man. Jake is a self absorbed tech guru who has been more interested in furthering his own career than being a supportive loving husband, father and business partner. Anna, Jessica and Sam are characters I think most women can relate to on a certain level. As mothers and through their relationships with Jake are they able to connect, and bond together. Dunlop is able to realistically portray the messiness of motherhood and marriage, co- parenting and all the complexities involved and how decisions we make for our children can have a lasting impact for future generations. Women are fierce and when they come together to uplift and encourage each other - it’s a beautiful thing!
A great book club pick! Lots to unpack here that would lead to great discussion
4/5

Thank you NetGalley and Zibby Books for the e-ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Women Are The Fiercest Creatures was such a fun read! I enjoyed the strong, complex female characters, the tech scene in Seattle, and the storyline. I thought each woman's backstory was interesting, and how they had fit into certain stages of Jake's life. I can relate to some of the women in this book due to the fact that we as women don't realize our true strength at times.
Highly recommend reading this one!!
I just reviewed Women Are The Fiercest Creatures by Andrea Dunlop. #WomenaretheFiercestCreatures #NetGalley
Thanks to NetGalley and Zibby Books for my ARC in exchange for my honest review. This book was published March 7, 2023.
The plot sounded good: women supporting women. It’s a great title.
Three scorned women unite in a way to fight against Jake Sarnoff, a egotistical man who started the high tech start-up called Strangers. It ended up being more of a thriller than I thought when something unexpected happens. Pace picked up near the end.
It was a fast read and I loved that Seattle was the backdrop for this story.
Women are the Fiercest Creatures is a fast-paced and fun read. Mentions of The Golden Girls throughout the book? I'm sold. The story follows three women, Anna, Samantha, and Jessica, and the way their lives intersect with tech giant Jake Sarnoff. Through a dual point of view, you start to learn of their history, pain and strength. Riddled throughout the book, are strong examples of what women face today as individuals, mothers, and in their careers.
While this made for an entertaining read with twists throughout, the women's ferocity didn't always come through. As you learn of their choices, you start to question their motives. Unfortunately, the ending left me with more questions than answers.
Thank you to NetGalley and Zibby Books for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is the story of three women whose lives are intertwined through their involvement with one Silicon Valley tech bro whose company is on the verge of an IPO. I don’t think you need to know anymore than that, honestly.
I read about 30 pages on Saturday night and finished the book in one sitting on Sunday night. I usually prefer one character when there are multiple POVs, but in this book, I looked forward to each perspective. This was a soapy but serious commentary on gender roles. I haven’t seen much of it on Bookstagram, so let me influence you to pick it up ASAP!
Three different women, three different stories yet all three are connected to Jake Sarnoff, Seattle's Tech King in waiting. This is deftly woven tale of betrayal, money and lust. Friendships, relationships and business deals are centre stage in this story of absolute power corrupting absolutely and destroying families in its wake.
I wasn’t quite sure what I was getting my self into when I picked up Women Are The Fiercest Creatures by Andrea Dunlop although having loved her books in the past it was a must read.
Women Are The Fiercest Creatures follows Jake, a CEO about to take his social media company public and three women: Anna, Sam and Jessica all influential women apart of Jake’s life at different times.
In true Dunlop style, through twists and turns this story kept me captivated. Women Are The Fiercest Creatures is a fun and quick read that shouldn’t be missed!
Thank you to NetGalley and Zibby Books for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest opinion.
