Run on Red was such a fantastic read! I was on the edge of my seat the entire time, and couldn't put it down. Definitely recommend this book to any thriller fans!
Thank you Netgalley & Dynamite Books for an eARC of Run on Red by Noelle W. Ihli.
This book somewhat reminded me of No Exit. A game of cat-and-mouse, Laura and Olivia notice headlights tailing them through the hills on their way to a party. Is it road rage? Or something more? The story quickly turns into a battle for survival.
This is a 3 star book for me. I have to say that the book is really well written (I love this author and her previous works), and very detailed with tons of action. I think it just wasn't for me, as the plot wasn't all that interesting to me as I read. Others who love this kind of plot will be enthralled. I did love the reveal as to why the girls were being targeted - Who the person/people following them are, etc. I am looking forward to reading whatever Noelle comes up with next!
Olivia and Laura are on their way to a bonfire when they are relentlessly pursued by masked men in a truck. This book is fast moving, exciting, and a fun read!
I did find the plot to be a little predictable, but I still enjoyed reading it. Ihli always writes great female characters. I do wish they were a little more complex but they are always smart and cunning.
Run on Red is so much fun. I stayed up past my bedtime reading it in just over two hours. It was completely addictive.
The short novel follows Olivia and Laura, two undergrads driving up a mountain road on their way to a party. They notice a truck with bright headlights behind them, and start to wonder if they’re being followed. Of course, things get bad from there.
One of my favourite types of thriller/horror stories is one where I get to put myself in the shoes of the protagonist and ask myself how I’d survive the same situation. Run on Red is full of these scenes, and I loved how well Ihli immersed me in Olivia’s mind. As a reader, I felt like i was part of her decision-making and questioning every choice. I felt her fear and hope in a visceral way.
Run on Red is a great choice if you’re looking for a fast-paced, tightly-written suspense story with great characters. There are places where it’s a little over-the-top, but that’s all part of the fun. It was such a perfect palate cleanser between Serious Books. I could *not* stop reading.
Thank you to NetGalley and Dynamite Books for my review copy of this book.
Thank you @netgalley for my ARC of Run on Red.
This book is already out. It is a fast paced, action packed book. It is suspenseful and you don't know what is going on until the last part of the book. Two girls are driving home at night when they are being chased and driven off the road by a truck.
This book, didn't work for me. I felt it was farfetched. Part of the suspense was that they didn't have cell signal to call 911, but emergency calls work without signal.
This grabbed my attention from the get-go! It's a page-turner that I finished in one sitting even though parts of the book were a bit unbelievable. It's a quick read that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
This book was incredibly suspenseful. As in so deliciously painful. I had to read. I needed breaks. I had to read. I needed breaks. Repeat.
A quick, intense read - one of the most intense books I have ever read.
Laura and Olivia head to a Delta frat bonfire - driving an old car, they are harassed by a large truck. And pushed off the road. Desperate to find help, no cell signal - they start running for their lives.
What. A. Tense. Thriller.
Highly recommend!
This hooked me from the first page. It started in a mysterious and intriguing scene that quickly grew into one of whites knuckle suspense. I devoured this. Could not out it down.
Wow wow wow this one was some crazy read.
I was on the edge of my seat and stressed for the majority of the book.
This was such a bingeable book with fast paced action and suspense that'll hook you in.
I really enjoyed this read and thought that the author did an amazing job at making us feel so uncomfortable and in survival mode just like the main characters!
Thank you, Netgalley, for the opportunity to read Run On Red. This was a fast-paced, nail biting thriller. I adored Olivia and her knowledge on survival. Now anytime anybody drives a little too close to me, I immediately jump to the worst conclusion and fear I'll get thrown into the situations within this book.
"By the time Laura and Olivia notice the headlights tailing them through the hills, it’s too late. What seems, at first, like a case of road rage quickly unfolds into a heart-pounding chase—and a battle for survival."
This book is told through the voice of Olivia, who has read enough true crime to be suspicious about pretty much everything. Her best friend, Laura is the typical young adult that is sometimes too trusting. When headlights appear in the rearview mirror Olivia is immediately concerned, while Laura brushes it off thinking that it's just an impatient driver wanting to pass them on the narrow mountain road. But they soon both realize that there is so much more to the headlights following them. On a quiet back road in the mountains and no cell phone service the girls are left with only each other to survive.
This book definitely hits the ground running and does. not. stop. I absolutely loved the friendship between Laura and Olivia as they are thrust in a battle of survival. I was completely engaged throughout the entire book, and just wanted to keep turning the page. This is a fast paced thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat. If your looking for a book with non stop action, this one is for you.
⭐⭐⭐⭐💫 (4.5)
Thank you to NetGalley and Dynamite Books for this ARC.
On Sale Now.
This was the second book by this author and holy cow!!!!
This surely kept you guessing and I Def stayed up because I didn't want it to end!!
Def five star rating and cannot wait to read more from this author!!!
Great job on the book very well written
I am in the minority with toy opinion, but this book was quite lame and cheesy for lack of better wording. The character development lacked any kind of depth. This was like a B or C horror film I’d see on Shudder and not be interested in watching. Maybe I am a reader that loves a slow burn with lots of in depth getting to know the characters and maybe that’s why this didn’t gel with me. I don’t understand the hype over this one,
Wow! Just wow! Seeing this book from other thriller readers made me so curious I did not realise that it was from the same Author of "Ask for Andrea". I love that book, and after reading this, I also enjoyed it so much.
The thrill was really overwhelming. I am totally at the edge of my sit the whole night I was reading this. And just finished it in less than 24hrs.
What makes this Author unique is you will never know the real reason for the Psychotic behaviours of the antagonists. The twist and overall plot was always really unexpected.
I'm definitely gonna read her other book! Thank you Publisher for the copy!
Great writing and I enjoyed the main character. However I found myself having a hard time getting through the book. I was hoping it would be one of those books I couldn’t put down and a page turner but I was a bit of a forceful read. I do recommend but it is a slow burn.
**Big thanks to Xpresso Book Tours and NetGalley for sending me a copy of this book.**
I went into this book expecting that it will grab me, put me in a chokehold, and never let me go. The beginning had me in a vice-like grip owing to its promising start. But it quickly loosened its hold on me less than halfway through. The events that led up to its conclusion was ruined by its lack-luster resolution. As much as I wanted to love this book, it just wasn't for me.
I really liked the main character Olivia and the action in this book was so good! Fantastic writing because I truly felt like I was with Olivia trying to make these survival choices with her.
Wow! What a terrific book. This is one I couldn’t put down from start to finish. It was terrifying, terrorizing, and frightening.
Laura and Olivia, college friends, are driving to a bonfire in the wilderness of Idaho. Suddenly, a truck is following them with terrifying speed, and recklessness. What follows is enough to scare anyone off a dark road!
I gave this book 5 huge stars. It was engaging from the first to the last page. I’m hoping to see a movie version someday!!
Thank you NetGalley,
and Xpresso Books for the ARC.
4 stars.
I pretty much exclusively read horror and thriller books, but THIS is the shit nightmares are made of. The first quarter of this book had me so incredibly stressed out I genuinely wondered if I was capable of reading this. Did the author write this book after receiving access to my not-so-subconscious fears?
The beginning started off so strong that it did dull the rest of the story a tiny bit, but I was hooked and continued to be hooked up until the very last minute.
This was my first ever ARC. Thank you to NetGalley and Dynamite Books for providing me with a copy of this book! All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Full TW disclaimer- this book is set in Idaho with the characters attending the University of Idaho where the most recent real life tragedy occurred. Additionally, the author provides a TW in the intro
Thank you Netgalley and the Publisher for the opportunity for this read.
Who knew I’d read probably my most fav book of 2022 in November when the year is winding down but it absolutely happened with Run on Red. Set in 2006 where there’s flip phones and not a lot of cell phone towers, two girls are battling the night for their lives. I could not put this read down and in turn, read it in a day. If you love true crime and/or Dateline- this is a read for you.
