Wow! As I write this I'm still
trying to comprehend what I just read. Like seriously, WTF!!
It takes a lot to scare me whether in a book or movie, and this story had me terrified from the start!

The writer did an incredible job with this story line. I was able to picture every single thing that happened as if I was watching the horror unfold right in front of me! The hell the girls went through is unfathomable!

Noelle is a new author to me and I am so impressed with her writing! I can not wait to check out her other books!

If you get a chance make sure to check out this book! Just WOW!!

Liv and Laura are heading to a bonfire to meet some friends, when a truck starts tailing them. The road they are on is dark and single laned. The older Volvo they are driving is having a hard time climbing the hills. The truck after some time becomes restless and begins to go around them and pulls up beside them. The girls look over and expect to be flipped off for going so slow, but notice the people in the truck are wearing masks and as they hear the one speak, they wonder do we know them? The truck continues to chase them for a little while longer. Laura after some time loses control of the car and they careen down a slope and crash.

All banged up, they now have to find a way back up to the dark, rural road they came from to look for help and hope whomever those guys were are long gone.

4.5 rounded up!

This was my first book by this author. I just had to request the ARC on Netgalley because I loved the cover! Thanks to Dynamite Books, LLC for the e-arc!

Writing: 4/5 - Plot: 5/5 - Ending: 4.5/5

Whew! This was a seriously fast-paced edge-of-your-seat fight for the survival, style thriller. It gripped me the whole time! It throws you right into the action and truly never lets go until the final page. This book is quite short but knocks a serious punch still. The writing was strong, and I actually cared for Laura and Olivia and felt right alongside them for the ride of their lives. It felt super atmospheric, especially in the woods scenes.

The plot went far more than the fight-for-survival aspect, which I loved, and didn't see coming. I didn't expect the big underlay plot here, but I really liked it and felt it made the stakes even higher. It also made the book darker than I expected, which I also loved. The whole time I kept asking, "How are Olivia and Laura going to get out of this?!"

I really liked the ending and felt it was the perfect choice for this book. It may be a little abrupt, but honestly, I didn't mind. Is this book a little implausible and unrealistic? Yes, but it was such a wild ride. This would be the perfect movie!

4 Stars

THIS was so intense from the very beginning..... I LOVED IT and I was so here for it. I will say it is a bit over the top, but if you just go in for a fun time, I don't think as a reader you'll be disappointed.

The story begins with Laura and Olivia driving in the dark on windy wooded roads to meet other college friends at a bon fire. Its the middle of the night, little to no shoulder on the road and no cell reception on the road. This already sets an environment of anything being out of place being incredibly spooky. At this point, Laura/Olivia have already noticed a vehicle tailgating them on this deserted mountain road. Olivia being a crime buff has this gut feeling that something just isn't right. Once the truck passes them, they think their troubles are over and it was just an inconsiderate driver. How they were so wrong....

I started this at night in the dark and it was just too intense for me. There are only certain things that will really scare me in thrillers or horror. It's the cat and mouse style chase in the dark and wooded setting. This whole scene in the first third of the book was so stressful and honestly I would have been ok with this book just staying in the woods the entire time. It set such an amazing atmosphere that created dread in the pit of my stomach.

Another thing I really enjoyed was Olivia's character. The author did such a great job having her quote current real life things. Like f*!ck politeness and quoting other real life crime podcasts. She is in the zone and has facts about what to do if in this situation.

It was a fast paced, fun, and overtop read. I would highly recommend this book to anyone that just loves that cat and mouse style thriller. It's well written and a super easy read. Great slump killer type of book.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Dynamite Books for this advanced reader copy. My review is voluntarily my own.

I will be posting my review to my Instagram page the.floofs.booknook and major retailer sites.

The concept of this story creeped me out and reading it was even scarier! But I flew through this and really enjoyed it. This thriller about survival will keep you on your toes and keep your attention the whole way through.

***

Laura and Olivia run into dangerous masked men on their way back from a bonfire. What follows is an elongated chase.

Who are the men? Why are they after the girls? Can they get away. The book is really a long chase and it's a quick read. There are quite a few chapters, but they're all fairly short.

I think this is meant to be suspenseful and to keep readers on edge. That didn't quite work for me. I restarted it twice before getting into the book. It didn't grab me quite like I had hoped.

Holy cow guys! Run on Red by Noelle W. Ilhi was AMAZEBALLS! Finished in less than 24 hours. Gripped right from the very beginning and hooked the whole way through. THIS is the definition of thriller! Liv and Laura are attending a bonfire when things escalate FAST. They never make it to the party. What was supposed to be an evening of fun turned into the worst night of their lives. Survival is their only concern. What will their fate be? Fast paced, never boring, this is one of the best titles I’ve read in 2022 by far! 5 full chocolate bars 🍫! #thriller #runonred #noellewilhi #suspense #action #survive #netgalley #arc #kindle #amazeballs #5fullstars #fastpace

First word that came to mind when I started this book was … TERRIFYING!! Two college girls traveling down a desolate rural highway at night alone to go to a bonfire and end up being stalked by a truck with two masked Men.. ummm no!! Kept me reading & anxious the entire time!! I don’t know if I loved the second part of the book as much as the first l, however I did love how the Author portrayed the strength of the two women in the story and how they can together to survive!! Solid ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 !

Wow, wow, wow! I knew before I even finished this book I was going to give it 5 stars. Run on Red just ticked all the boxes for me.
The story starts off with two college girls headed to a party in the boonies where they begin to be tailgated and intimidated by a couple of scarily masked men. And things just take off and accelerate from there. From beginning to end the action Does. Not. Stop. The bad-ass female main characters rival Bruce Willis in Die Hard or Ellen Ripley in terms of determination and bad-assery fighting for their lives. Will they be successful when the odds are stacked against them??
Run on Red was marketed as Horror to me which I can kind of see why… but this most definitely falls under the category of Thriller. Highly, highly recommend!

I found this a little irritating. It read like one of those horror films with lots of screaming girls getting into completely stupid situations which, if they had thought things through they wouldn’t have even been in if they’d thought it through. Luckily this was a short book as I’m not sure I would have finished it. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

Wow, what a ride! I flew through this book in about 4 hours because I. Was. Hooked. The story takes place over one night and follows two best friends as they’re chased by car and hunted through the woods and it’s insane! The story is fast-paced and had my heart pounding from the first page to the last. You won’t want to put this one down so set aside some time!

I was a little nervous because this one was marked horror, but I really think its more thriller. I guess it’s probably a misconception I have, thinking all horror is going to be gore, but that really isn’t the case.

By the time Laura and Olivia notice the headlights tailing them through the hills, it’s too late. What seems, at first, like a case of road rage quickly unfolds into a heart-pounding chase—and a battle for survival. Who are the men in the truck? What do they want? And can Laura and Olivia outrun—and outsmart—them long enough to call for help, even if it means taking their chances in the hills on foot?
As their situation grows more perilous, the girls realize that the real terror has only just begun. But flight won’t save them from their pursuers. If they’re going to make it home alive, they'll have to fight.

This one was a really good read. It was unputdownable and I devoured it as quickly as I could. I’m not always a fan of epilogues, but this one was really good, and I liked it. It wrapped things up nicely in a way that I was satisfied with.

Thanks to @netgalley and Xpresso Book Tours for my advanced e-arc in exchange for this honest review. I really enjoyed this one!!! This one is out Nov 18!!!

This was absolutely not what I expected! I was thinking more of a hills have eyes type horror vibe but I was so pleasantly surprised that it was more of thriller/ domestic noir type where you could relate to the events a d the situation. The big reveal is a very dark and terrifying series of events but nothing that you have to stretch the imagination to imagine really happening.... that makes it all the more terrifying. The ending was pretty abrupt and the ending did feel very rushed but I guess hy that point the reveal was over and the chase was done anyways. And the author did offer a brief epilogue to sum it all up. The characters are realistic but not given much depth or backstory. It's more about the action and the chase which works for me. A couple eof bits were a bit slow but luckily they didn't last ling and you're soon back I the fast paced, thick of it. O really enjoyed it and will definitely be looking to read more from the author

Cue creepy horror music…Anxiety level critical. I am breathing in shallow breaths and my knuckles are white from clenching and unclenching my fist. The fear that is being invoked is intense. Reading a horror story is more thought provoking than watching and my mind was racing. I read this book at a high rate of speed, and it is still consuming my waking hours and my dreams as well.

Laura and Olivia are on their way to a bonfire out in the backwoods of Idaho. There is no cell phone service, they are miles away from civilization and now they are stuck in the worst nightmare of all…a game of cat and mouse. They have no idea who is following them or why. Olivia being the overthinker and lover of true crime cannot push away the feeling that this situation is going to go from bad to worse.

When I tell you I was on the edge of my seat through this entire book. I felt like I was in the car with Laura and Olivia experiencing the unthinkable. It is a wild right from start to finish. I couldn’t breathe, I was jumping up and down, screaming I am positive everyone in my general vicinity now believes I am crazy.

From start to finish the story Noelle weaves is one of survival and it will mess with your head as you realize that this could be reality. Its dark, dangerous, and refreshing. Run on Red is thought provoking, making you wonder how you would handle a situation like this if it were to arise. Would you survive?

A huge thanks to NetGalley, Noelle W. Ihli and Dynamite Books for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

🚘Book Review: Run on Red🚘

„You just have to remember the rules of threes.“

Book: Run on Red
Author: Noelle W. Ihli
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Genre: Thriller/Horror
TW: Kidnapping, Abuse, mentioned SA, mentioned s*x trafficking

I don’t read fast paced thrillers very often, but this felt like those early 2000 horror movies, that I just love.

We immediately jump into action, when college students Olivia and Laura are on the way to a bonfire party in the middle of nowhere. Olivia noticed a car tailgating them from the get go, but both girls think that they just must have the same destination. Until they’re being attacked and driven of a cliff by two masked figures.

➕Very fast read, that didn’t feel too rushed and kept me engrossed the whole time.
I was never bored with the nonstop action provided in this book.
The author did a good job, with making you feel empathetic towards Laura& Liv. I just wanted them to survive. I also LOVED the friendship between them.
I like the writing style of the author. She made you feel like you were actually there. At one point, our main characters were locked in a small room underground and I felt the panic. I felt like I was trapped with them.

➖There weren’t a lot of characters even mentioned, so I immediately knew who one of the guys were.
One thing that annoyed me a LOT is, that both of their phones ran out of battery! We are meant to believe that Olivia is somewhat paranoid and always on the lookout for something bad to happen, but she doesn’t charge her phone?! Stupid!
Liv made a few stupid decisions, but I won’t be too harsh on her. Except when she dropped a weapon like a dumbass!
The ending wasn’t as satisfying as I hoped, but it was fine.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this book to people, who are looking for a short/fast-paced thriller with a lot of action.

Thank you to #Netgalley & Dynamite Books for my review copy! All opinions are my own.
