I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
I immediately like the main character, Olivia, after she drops a true crime reference and an X-Files comparison in the first couple pages.
The action starts fairly fast in this book with Olivia and her friend Laura driving to a bonfire party being held outside city limits. It preys on a fear many women have—being followed by a car in the middle of nowhere at night. At first you can’t tell if the car is following you with malicious intent or if they just happen to be going to the same place as you. After a few minutes and turns, you ask yourself if you should call the police or if you’re overreacting. And then if the person or people in the car behind you are out to harm you, will you be able to either outsmart them or overpower them?
This book kept my attention all the way through. I could see it being made into a movie.
Gracious Glittery Gravy! 😳😯🤯
Well this was one majorly twisted, fluffed up plot that I absolutely was on the edge of my seat for! The entire ride was crazy, anxiety-provoking and heart racing that I couldn't get enough of! Think of intense, insane suspenseful-like many thriller horror movies that are infamous and this book is what you get in the best way. You'll feel as if you're actually in it and trying to survive yourself. Ihli sure knows how to keep your muscles taught with flight or fight even though you're just a reader! Absolute genius with how she's created and directed this fab novel and intense writing that provokes fear out of you like you're Olivia!
Now I do have a confession & I'm sure I'll be in the minority here so don't bat at me with stuffed animals for this, but there was one critique I do have that was a bit of a disappointment for me. Some of the ending felt a bit rushed and smooshed & the reasoning for what happened felt lack-luster for me. But absolutely everything leading up to that, I wouldn't change a thing. An absolute fun yet freaky, horroresque type movie-feel while your munching down on popcorn & candy like your life depends on it!
Mყ 𝐒ყɴ𝐨ρѕιѕ: Laura and Olivia are on their way to a night bonfire, driving down a rural country road. Olivia is someone with very anxious tendencies and always has bad feelings about doing anything. But this time that feeling will prove right, when a truck joins them on the abandoned road that turns from innocent to road rage and ultimately life or death within minutes. But the terror games and fun have only just begun and a long night is ahead of for the women.
Thank you to NetGalley & Xpresso Book Tours for this ARC.

Something about Idaho is scary already. I know you're like "no." but I spent a chunk of my childhood there and my sister still lives there and it is too rural. That said- it makes that the perfect setting for this book.
I had the hugest adrenaline high after I read this. I also read this in one go because I couldn't look away.
Also nice touch with the blank pages at the end of the really intense chapters. It had to take a breath before knowing what happened and I am sure I would have passed out without it.
This was a total rush!
I loved it.
Another “out of the park” hit for this amazing author. After reading Ask for Andrea, I was not sure if she could top herself. I was wrong. This book had no supernatural elements. It was completely about survival. Olivia had always watched shows about murder and such things. Laura always scoffed at her. Well her viewing habits may be what has to save them. This book was gritty and savage with me cheering for the girls. What was done in this book was terrible. The frat house boys had no respect for the girls whatsoever. The end was so fulfilling yet sad. A 5⭐️read for sure.
3.5 stars
This was an intense and extremely fast paced read. I’ve never read the author before but of this is normal for her this won’t be the last book I’ll devour.
This books is a fast-paced thriller that intrigues you from the very first page, No Exit meets Hush in this story about two college girls headed to a frat bonfire party, when they finally notice they are being followed. This book has many twists and turns, some I could see coming and others surprised me, but every turn sets the story for a new challenge that the characters face! I really enjoyed this arc, and I am so grateful to have gotten to read Run on Red! The characters are written well, and each have their own ideas and personalities that make the story more compelling, no one character feels too much like the next. If you are in the mood to read something where the action does not stop and love a thriller, this is for you!
Wow! Noelle Ihli does it again! This was so intense. Full of twists, turns and non stop action. Crazy great characters that kept me flipping pages. Read in one sitting. Highly recommend
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book
There were so many times that I found myself shaking my head at the ridiculous actions of these ladies. I just found myself wishing that I would hurry up and finish this disaster. I will be avoiding this author in the future.
I haven’t yet read the authors previous books, but heard such great reports of the last one, that I jumped at the chance to read this one asap.
It provides a trigger warning for non graphic descriptions of sexual violence. I didn’t find the description at all graphic, it was delicately handled.
Laura and Liv two young women are driving through windy rural roads to get to a reservoir for a bonfire party.
Liv suffers from social anxiety, she writes blogs about what measures to adopt for personal safety.
It has a creepy vibe from the outset as they are tailgated by a truck on route to the reservoir.
In one of the early sequences the tension was so real! I could feel my heart hammering. Anyone would think it was me in that Volvo 😂
It’s a survival thriller, that kept me engrossed. Yes,there was some very bad decision making by Liv. It’s hard in a panic situation to make the best decisions, sometimes it’s impossible to make any decision, so it didn’t feel unrealistic, just frustrating. The ending was a little weak for me, I’d hoped for something more dynamic.
A survival thriller wouldn’t be my usual choice for a book. I really enjoyed it,and would recommend it if you enjoy this sub genre.
Thoroughly enjoyed this one. Practically read it in one sitting it was so intense. Scary and unpredictable. A friend who is in fight or flight mode but can’t leave her other friend behind and the steps she takes to get her back. Lots of plot twists. Loved it.
Thank you Netgalley for this arc
This was a quick, to-the-point story that starts off with a bang. My anxiety was through the roof in the first half of this and I now comprehend the feeling of the term "edge of your seat". I couldn't describe it any other way. The only part I was annoyed with was when a character made a dumb, cliche mistake but it corrected itself when she called herself out for her stupidity for doing so in the heat of the moment. This being my first by this author, I'm now dying to read her previous book. The only complaint I have is that I honestly would have liked this to be a bit longer and maybe have little more backstory with the characters. All in all, this was definitely a great, suspenseful read. Four Stars.
Thank you Netgalley and Dynamite Books LLC for this ARC.
TW kidnapping, Sexual assault. This book was so thrilling! I couldn’t put it down! I can’t wait to read more books from this amazing author!!
I discovered Noelle W. Ihli's books with Ask For Andrea, one of this year's best and most original thrillers. I loved that book and have recommended to many others who also loved it. I couldn't wait to read Run On Red.
No spoilers! I'm only going to touch briefly on the plot...
Laura and Olivia are driving a beaten up old Volvo to a remote bonfire party at Coffin Creek when they realise they are being followed by a truck. Olivia is self-aware, anxious and a true crime junkie, full of facts and figures on serial killers and survival tips.
This book opens with a sheer intensity, the threat and tension is off the scale. The two friends are in very real danger from their pursuers.
It develops into a tense psychological / survival thriller. Who is pursuing and threatening the girls and why? Will they survive and escape?
The story is told in real time, it's fast and dangerous. There are twists, and a chilling sense of reality, not least in some of the descriptions of injuries and pain.
I raced through it, it's fast and refreshing and you will be hooked from the first chapters.
