Thank you for the ARC! One of my favorite thrillers this year. SO original, so gripping, and loved the writing!

Woah. This one was downright disturbing and terrifying, but in that good way you want a thriller to be. This is a book where the situation is clear from the very beginning, and it's just a matter of seeing how the author is going to let it all play out. A devious, dangerous man with two shockingly differing personalities, and then girls who love are controlled by/must escape from him. This is a dark book, but perfect for readers of psychological thrillers who aren't afraid to delve into the more sinister sides of what seems like the average human being.

Great style of writing, was sucked in immediately and kept my attention. The psychology and inner monologues of the characters were well-written—was a great read from start to finish!

This is a dark and thrilling read. I really enjoyed the narrative of this book and was rooting for 'Rachel' throughout the whole book. It is broken well by being told by a few different characters and really highlights how we can really never know what a person is capable of and even well respected people are capable of dark and despicable acts.
Brilliant read.

This one was a hard me for me to be honest.
Severely overwritten, filled with a mountain of analogies that just don’t make sense. Other analogies are like three analogies in one. I had to read and re-read likes multiple times to understand where the author was trying to go here.
The storyline could have been good but I was so distracted from the quirky writing that I couldn’t get into the story for long. I’d get in and the writing would pull me right back out.
Sooooo, not my style of writing, the storyline itself was ok.
ARC was provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Really freakin good. A writing style I don't like (second person), more twisted than I would usually be able to stomach, but I could. not. put it down. Literally just read the entire thing in one day.
Not completely satisfied with the ending, but still. Wow.

Thank you Knopf and NetGalley for the ARC. This is a thriller about a young woman, abducted by a serial killer yet spared and held hostage for 5 years. She manages to save herself and convince him to hold her in his home with his young daughter after his wife dies. The best part of this is that it is told from the point of view of Rachel, the woman, and Cecilia, the daughter. The focus is on their lives and survival and not on the killer himself or the police search. It's unique and very intriguing.

Oh my gosh, one of the books that I saw on Bookstagram that definitely lived up to the hype! Loved everything about this book.

This wants to be "notes on an execution" but i think it failed to provide as much emotional language, which left it falling short for me. it's nice to see thrillers taking victims more into account, but this just didn't get there for me writing-wise.

The Quiet Tenant by Clémence Michallon is a slow burn psychological thriller about a serial killer, his daughter, girlfriend *cough, stalker, cough*, and victims. Despite what sounds like an interesting premise, it was difficult to finish. I put it down several times in favor of other books and had to seriously work to remember what it was about after letting a little time go by before writing this review. Not highly recommended, it's not Riley Sager or Room, but it wasn't a bad book. I think the author did a really good job of making the voices distinct and POV unique from one another. There were several moments in the book that seriously required complete suspension of disbelief and there's no fantasy or sci-fi elements. I'm confused by the strong blurb from Alafair Burke, but if you like her books, you'll probably like The Quiet Tenant, just don't expect the pulse-pounding thriller promised in the editor's notes.

This book Had me page turning wow !! I enjoyed the multiple different view points of many different characters. I was never bored.

The Quiet Tenant by Clemence Michallon is one great ride of a suspenseful thriller! This book literally had me on the edge of my seat as I stayed up way past my typical bedtime to finish it. The story revolves around a serial killer and his victims who each tell a snippet of their demise throughout the book. Meanwhile, one victim has been held captive for five years. Her tale is absolutely riveting. You will be glued to the pages as you tar through them to discover how it's all going to end. Read and enjoy!

This book was FANTASTIC. A book about a serial killer who has the balls to move his latest victim in with his teenage daughter. This book was SO GOOD, the tension was insane, and it kept me reading straight through the night. A fantastic debut and I cannot wait to see what Clémence Michallon does next.
I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

A really interesting spin on the darker sides of being a woman. Thrilling and suspenseful- when several woman are bound to the same malevolent predator- it becones a high stakes thrill ride. Overall a memorable and entertaining read.

I absolutely ate this one up. It's unlike any book that I've read in a while in that it is from the POV of the kidnapped victim. Her story of being locked up and abused.
It's also from the POV of a potential love interest/victim as well as the daughter of the kidnapper. This resulted in a book that I could not put down.
The short chapters made this book absolutely bingeable. When the kidnapper, Aidan gets sloppy, I found myself hoping for the best and screaming at Rachel when she was seemingly missing opportunities to get away. I just can't even imagine being kidnapped and trying to survive for 5 years! Like what?! I'd want out of my misery.
I thought this book was well-planned in the organization of the chapters. Multiple timelines and POV can get muddy but it was easy enough to follow along.
Overall, this book was a captivating read. The plot is what keeps you drawn in. The possibilities of freedom. There is just a small lack of a memorability factor.

“Rule number one of staying alive in the shed: He always wins. For five years, you have made sure of it.” 🏚️🤫
What a sinister and entertaining read! Thank you so much to @aaknopf Publishing for the copy of THE QUIET TENANT by Clemence Michallon! I highly recommend this fast-paced thriller on audio - it was so fantastically done. Told from multiple POVs you get - a woman who has been trapped in a shed for five years, her captor, his daughter, and the woman he is starting to see/be interested in.
This book is dynamic and gripping; I particularly appreciated the way the author made it appropriately dark and disturbing, but it wasn’t overly graphic or violent on page. Which ultimately made it even more creepy - the assumption of violence or danger, rather than it being overtly presented to the reader.
There are definitely mixed reviews out there - but I think this book was brilliantly written and I’m excited to see how this author grows after such a startling and surprising debut.

✨The Quiet Tenant✨ by Clemence Michallon
This thriller is like NOTHING like I’ve ever read before.
First, it’s from 3 povs: the woman held captive, the killer’s daughter, & the killer’s love interest who obviously doesn’t know he’s a serial killer.
Second, the killer’s name is Aiden. You know it right from the start. There’s no plot twist, there’s no mystery. But it’s spellbinding all the same.
This book features:
— psychological thriller
— mutli pov 🔎
— small town serial killer 🔪
— No plot twist.
What I loved about this book was the resiliency and strength portrayed by “the woman in the shed”. The emotion captured by all 3 woman was *chefs kiss* 👌🏼
@clemencemichallon did a wonderful job with this debut and I can’t wait to see what she comes out with next!
Tysm Knofe for my #gifted copy! THE QUIET TENANT is out now!

This was a dark, slow burn, character driven mystery. It was a bit too slow paced for me as I was expecting an edge of your seat thriller. I still found it to be a well written story and I would read more by this author.

This one was a page turner for me that I really enjoyed reading. Told in the protagonist POV, I was kept at the edge of my seat. Very terrifying to think people are actually abducted and held against their will for months or even years at a time. I was rooting for “the woman in the house” hoping she could escape.
I’m giving this a 4/5 stars because I wanted more in the ending. There were some loose ends. Like what happened to Aiden? Otherwise, would totally recommend!

Thank you Netgalley for the advance reader copy of The Quiet Tenant by Clémence Michallon in exchange for an honest review. This book grabbed me and would not let go, I read it all in one day. It was told from multiple points of view, which had me empathizing with each one. I'm not sure how to summarize without giving away the story, but it definitely creeped me out and kept me reading to see how it ended. I liked the ending too, which is a huge bonus.
