There are so many wonderful things I can say about this book. It was captivating and dark and thrilling in its wrongness. The story revolves around a man, his daughter, his friend, and the other woman who he has captive in his home. It really weaves a story of how the people we think we know may actually be incredibly different from who we thought they were. This book kept me wanting to find out what happens next, and I thought it was a riveting story. It wasn’t an easy subject, but it was still eerily engrossing. The only downfall for me was the ending, which I felt left me wanting and with a feeling of things being unresolved.

This was a good book! I liked seeing the story through the 3 womens eyes. There were parts that were hard to stomach based on the subject matter but overall a good book

It’s almost time to start some holiday reads but I’m still reading thrillers over here 🤷🏼♀️
Couldn’t read this fast enough! Talk about pulse pounding (I couldn’t read this one before bed!) So many things I liked about this one - 3 main POV, serial killer plot, and slow building tension. Read if you liked Local Woman Missing 📖 Make sure to check the TW for this one as there are quite a few.

Jesus Lord, the only reason I'm submitting this review is to warn people about it. From the get-go, this story is unbearable. You have been warned.

I have no idea why I waited so long to pick this title up but I’m kicking myself. While the story it tells isn’t anything new, the take on it definitely is. I couldn’t put this one down. Michallon created characters that were so realistic and relatable that she even had me empathizing with the bad guy a few times (not a great feeling lol). Finding out that English is not her first language and that this was her first foray into writing in English was shocking. Shes an amazing writer and I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.

60/100 or 3.00 stars
This was decent. It is definitely a read that people need to check the content warnings with before reading, There wasn’t too much that was unexpected, which made the stakes really low. Some parts felt realistic, but other parts felt unrealistic as hell.

Clémence Michallon took the classic thriller trope of an abducted woman imprisoned in a room and turned it on its head. So well-written and unpredictable with believable characters all the way through. Can't tell you how many times I screamed through the kindle, trying to warn a character not to go there. One of the best thrillers I've read in a long time!

This thriller told in multiple voices kept me on the edge of my seat the whole read. Considering you know who the bad guy is the entire novel, that is quite an accomplishment. The thrill of finding out how it will end keeps this fast paced novel going. I feel like there were a couple loose ends that could have been elaborated on a bit more at the end, but overall I really enjoyed this book.
Thank you to Knopf Publishing Group and Netgalley for an advanced readers copy of this book for my honest review.

The Quiet Tenant is a true psychological thriller. Clemence Michallon takes you into the mind of a captive in such a believable way that you are engrossed in this story. You feel yourself stepping into the shoes on the narrators - his girlfriend, his daughter and his victim. Aidan Thomas seems like such a normal, upstanding guy, even though you know from the get go that he is not you can see how those in the community perceive him that way. This book truly does explore the psychological impact of Aidan's actions and the trauma he causes.
This book was so well-written that it made me uncomfortable at points because I felt like I was in the body of his victims. It was a disconcerting experience watching what happens when a serial killer starts to unravel and his carefully projected facade starts to disappear. This is a great book for all thriller lovers.
This book comes with all the trigger warnings, please check them out prior to picking this one up. Because of the multiple POVs it can get uncomfortable at points, so if you do not like to be in that headspace then you may want to pass on this book.
I thought this book was well-written. The characters were very human and convoluted. I was a bit let down by the ending and really struggled with Emily. I will for sure read more by this author though because I think they have true talent.

This book was wild! Gave me vibes of "Room", which was another haunting story that I loved. Thank you for the ARC - I really enjoyed this one!

Do you have what it takes to survive a kidnapping? This gripping tale tells of a brave young womans time being held captive and what she went through. Finding out the person she is being held by has a deeper history than she first learned she uses her knew knowledge to her power but will it ever be enough to help her escape?

"Rule number two of staying alive in the shed: He's always right, and you're always sorry."
Wow! This was such a fast-paced thriller that incorporated multiple viewpoints and many content warnings. Please be aware of these before proceeding!
In this thriller, we have 3 points of view: The woman in the shed, Cecilia, and Emily. As you read, you attach yourself to each of these women for very different reasons. This is a great book for people that enjoy domestic thrillers, multiple viewpoints, and closed endings!
I will definitely read more by this author.

Thank you @aaknopf @netgalley for the review copy!
📖 Aidan is a beloved member of his community. Always willing to lend a hand and charismatic. When his wife dies, the community comes together to help and support him. But they don’t know that Aidan has a dark secret. He’s a serial killer and is currently keeping a woman prisoner.
💭I really liked how this story was told. I thought it was so interesting to see the different sides of Aidan from the multiple perspectives. It was super creepy to see him switch from the person everyone thought he was, to who he really was with his victims. I was so tense by the end. I also really liked the short chapters. It made it a quick read even though it was more of a slow burn read.

I thought this was an okay debut novel from the author. The story was told in an unusual way, getting the perspective of a serial killer's past victims, current victim, future victim and daughter. I did feel the story was wrapped up a little too quickly and I wish we could have seen more of the aftermath of man being found out.

Wow! One of the better thrillers I have read! I thoroughly enjoyed the plot and storyline! I will be recommending this one to anyone who like thrillers.

Quick Summary: An absolutely riveting, dark thriller
My Review: The Quiet Tenant by Clémence Michallon was one of the best thrillers I have read in a while. It was insanely good. I was fortunate enough to have access to a digital e-book, as well as an audiobook. Quite frankly, the audiobook made the book that much better. I cannot even find the words to communicate how troubling the story was. I was beside myself throughout the entire reading experience.
About the Book: Darkness lurks in the most obvious places and yet even as we look upon it, we often cannot see it.
My Final Say: This book was so well done that a gamut of emotions was my living space. Every element, every part of the book was something I simply could not look away from. It was painful, emotional, bone chilling, sobering, and all together captivating. It was strength and weakness bound together with survival of the fittest. It was brilliant.
Other: This book has earned a permanent position on my dark thrillers shelf, right next to Dr. Hannibal Lecter.

“The Quiet Tenant” By Clémence Michallow
📕 Edition: eBook & Audiobook
😱 This book had me hooked from start to finish, and I couldn't put it down.
👨👧👩 The story delves into the dark secret of Aidan Thomas, a seemingly ordinary man with a chilling double life as a kidnapper and serial killer. The tension builds as Aidan's wife passes away, forcing him to relocate with his daughter Cecilia and his captive, Rachel, whom he introduces as a "family friend." Rachel's survival instincts kick in, and a fragile connection forms with Cecilia, while local restaurant owner Emily gets dangerously close to uncovering the truth.
👏 Kudos to the author for delivering a thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat while diving deep into the complexities of the human psyche. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a compelling, character-driven thriller with a side of psychological suspense!
Thank you @NetGalley , Clémence Michallow and @aaKnopf for providing me with this ARC.

This was a case of “did I read the same book as everyone else?” Unfortunately, this book was not a hit for me. It was very slow and I kept waiting for it to become somewhat of a thriller but nothing really happened even psychologically that sustained my interest. The second person narrative was not working for me in this story.

I loved this book. Best I’ve read in awhile. It was so interesting to see the relationship between victim and captor. It wasn’t like other kidnapping books I’ve read because other people see the victim. I only wish that the ending would’ve had more about the characters later on in life.
