“Sometimes it seemed like everybody we knew— even bears at the zoo— had a baby or two, but we waited for you.”
Well that made me cry 😭😍
As a momma who waited for her babies, I felt seen while reading. My kids love hearing about how much we waited for and prayed for them, so this will be finding a home on our shelves upon publication.
Beautiful, heartfelt stories. Perfect artwork. Highly recommend 👏🏻
Thank you for this wonderful little book!
A heartwarming story for families to share together. This was just what every library would appreciate for their collection.
This book is so cute and the amount of diversity in such a small book is amazing!!
This book tells the story to a child about how their parents were waiting just for them, even when everyone else had babies and they didn't. While it is a heartwarming story, I think it is also important to consider the prospective of foster and adoptee children in this book. Foster children do not exist to complete families; neither do adopted babies from birth. Regardless of love given, there is still trauma that must be addressed and I think it's important to listen to foster children's voice on the subject. There is a huge implication tied to "waiting for a specific child." Please reach out to foster children for more information.

when I read this perfectly illustrated little book I pictured a parent with their child on their lap reading them this book, how beautiful it is for a child to know they are loved and were waited for !
This book takes you on a journey of parents longing for a child. It hints as signs of infertility... I think this can be a great resource
for families that might have started a little later compared to others or even adoptive parents,
This is a children's book that is made primarily for the parents. But I think the child can take away from the story as well. It's so important to be reminded how wanted and special you are.
A warm heart book about love from parents and everyone, everything in the world about waiting a baby. Its make me feel like OMG, everything wait for me, and im blesses to be born with my mom and dad.
This is a sweet rhyming book written to a child whose parents had to wait a long time for them. The parents and children change in every scene until the end but the children are always young. It suggests issues with infertility with talk of crying and waiting for the child. In one scene the mother is pregnant (or a birth mother?). Adoption is assumed otherwise. The poem says the parents flew up into a rainbow to finally get the child. There is a lot of inclusion in most of the illustrations of other families. The happy ending shows a rather stereotypical white couple happily getting their white baby who finally slides down the rainbow and comes to them. The topics of adoption or other ways of building families are not brought up.
This is a positive, sweet book but may leave children with more questions. Suited for preschool and younger.
I read a temporary digital copy of this book via NetGalley.
This book is so sweet it made me tear up! Such beautiful pictures and such a wonderful message. I can see families of all different types reading this to their kids!
This is an absolutely beautiful book, a treasure for all families who have waited for their little ones to arrive. The gorgeous pictures are bright and feature a diverse cast, and the rhyming prose is inclusive and ensures all families can see themselves represented in this book. I will absolutely be recommending this to all new parents and those shopping for new families. An instant classic.
Thank you NetGalley and SOURCEBOOKS Kids, Sourcebooks Jabberwocky for accepting my request to read and review We Waited for You.

This is a sweet and from the heart message to a child from his parents. The message conveys how much they wanted a child and all that they did until he came.
The illustrations are soft and compliment the story.
I would appropriately gift this.
This is a sweet and tender book. It’s easy enough to understand for many ages. This would be an awesome baby shower gift!!
What an absolutely beautiful book! This soothing, rhythmic story has a gentle, loving message and the illustrations are gorgeous. I love that the book represents so many diverse families. This Nana loved it! Thanks #NetGalley #SourcebooksKids
Thanks to NetGalley and SOURCEBOOKS Kids for allowing me to read this beautiful book. We Waited for You was a very heartwarming book for me to read. I know waiting is hard but it is always worth it. I really reiterates that in this book very well. The next step is to treat the child with love they deserve.
This is such a sweet read! It will be a wonderful read for families who suffered from either taking a while to get pregnant, infertility/IVF, and those who finally have their rainbow baby. It really shows the parents love for a child and how much they waited and wished for their child. Beautiful illustrations as well.
Thank you, SOURCEBOOKS Kids, for the advance reading copy.
This is such a well illustrated book with so much to show rather than so much to tell. I feel the parents who welcomed their kids after trying for a while would know what the book is telling us. It’s so well presented. Love it so much. Every child is precious. Every life is precious.
This is a cute book with nice illustrations. I enjoyed the book until the parents go I the rainbow. It just didn’t flow well for the story in my opinion. My son also wasn’t very interested in the story. This is more for the parent than the child. I’m sure there will be many families who will identify with this book’s message.
A cute book about parents waiting for children. This would be a cute book for new children. I also enjoyed the illustrations in it!
