Sabotage in the mountains…..
Can her K-9 sniff out the truth?
After surviving a sudden Avalanche, mountain survival expert Jayla Hoyt her her search and rescue K-9 find evidence that it was no accident, someone deliberately triggered the mountain explosion. To find who’s behind this, she has to partner with Alaska Park Ranger Bryson Clarke, a man she doesn’t trust, for good reason. When their investigation puts them into the killers crosshairs, can they capture who’s behind this before it’s too late?
This story delves into the background of each character and how their past is connected to the people they are today. I enjoyed the dynamics of the leads and the back up characters. This one kept me turning at every chapter. When you thought you knew the person behind it …bam another twist. This is the perfect winter read for this time of year. I read it in one day and it’s 224 pages so I think that’s a record for me.
Darlene L Turner began writing inspirational suspense a few years ago and quickly made a name for herself, winning awards and telling great stories. This one is action-packed and totally satisfying for any suspense fan. And there is a dog!! I love dogs in books. Do yourself a favor and pick this one up. You won’t regret it.
My thanks to the publisher and author for a copy of this book. The opinion here is my own.
Action adventure from beginning until the end! I love books like this.
Turner sure knows how to keep her readers guessing through the many twists and turns that is in this story.
I finished this read in an hour it was so good!
My favorite thing in this book was how the characters walked by their faith through whatever situation they were facing to solve the murder issues.
I loved how Jayla and Bryson worked as a team. It's how things get done.
I enjoyed this story very much!
5 stars for a job well done! I highly recommend!

This is a Romantic Suspense. I read over 50% of this book before DNFing this book. The beginning of this book was full of action and suspense, but it did not help you really connect to the characters. I felt that there was so much action and suspense, but there was very little character development. I just could not connect to the story because I could not connect to the characters. I received an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion about the book like all my reviews are.
"Alaskan Avalanche Escape" is Christian romantic suspense. Ex-cop Bryson's attracted to Jayla's beauty (it's her defining, much-mentioned characteristic) even though his last girlfriend betrayed him. Jayla didn't trust Bryson because his inaction at a critical moment left her friend crippled. I guess he's determined that will never happen again because he kept knocking Jayla down and covering her body with his when they're shot at. He had a gun and played protector while ex-army Jayla willingly went around unarmed, unarmored, and acted like she never had combat training. Bryson even told her how to do something she's supposedly an expert in. She's just grateful that someone cared enough to rescue her even though it's his bad decisions that were putting her in danger. When she finally spoke up and said they needed help and could trust some people, he got angry that she questioned his game plan.
Jayla trusted everyone even when she ought to be suspicious. Bryson trusted no one except her, because, well, she's beautiful? People were being killed left and right from guns, assassination, overdoses, grenades, explosions, fires, avalanches, and more, yet they didn't protect themselves better. So many things didn't make sense or didn't seem realistic.
Jayla was willing to risk human lives to save her dog. She kissed her dog a thousand times but physically pushed Bryson away until the very end. Bryson didn't seem to care that he was second place to the dog. Jayla didn't think God listened to her prayers and Bryson was raised agnostic, but both prayed to God for help on several occasions. There was no sex or bad language.
Enjoyed this Alaskan set suspense by an author I haven't read before. But look forward to reading other books by this author in the future.
really enjoyed all the suspense and action, even though this types of books aren't my type of romance that I love to read ,but they are the type of books that if you just want to set and read and get lost in a good story, then these are the ones to do with.
Alaskan Avalanche Escape is a powerful, suspenseful addition to the multi-author K-9 Search and Rescue series. The story revolves around mountain survival expert Jayla Hoyt, her K-9 search and rescue dog Hercules, and Alaskan park ranger Bryson Clark who unite to uncover a culprit who is deliberately triggering avalanches and targeting the trio. In the action-packed plot, danger lurks around every bend—one dramatic event after another. The shocking reveal took me completely by surprise. Advancing the story are relatable characters that you can connect with and root for. The faith journey, leading to realization that redemption comes only from God, is inspiring and encouraging. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and recommend it especially for fans of inspirational romantic suspense.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley with no obligation to write a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Alaskan Avalanche Escape by Darlene Turner is part of Harlequin's K-9 Search and Rescue series. Jayla Hoyt is a mountain survival expert. Along with her search and rescue dog Hercules they operate with a team to rescue skiers and those who get lost in the mountains. Jayla works on the Canadian side of the border with Alaska. Jayla and her team coordinate with an Alaskan team. That's where Bryson Clarke comes in. He's an Alaska park ranger. When the two teams meet after an avalanche Jayla and Bryson end up working together. They are suspicious of recent avalanches that should not have occurred and they are determined to find out what's going on. They face much danger as they work their way on the dangerous, snowy path to their Happily Ever After. I really enjoyed all the suspense and action. The two main characters, Jayla and Bryson, are very likable. Or should I say the three main characters as Jayla's search and rescue dog Hercules is very likable too.
.
Alaskan avalanche escape is an adventure into the cold and rescue of skiers who get trapped in a mountain of snow. The characters will keep you guessing who are the good guys and who are the bad. Lots of twists that will keep you reading until the end.
