This is a good book. The two main characters are Ellie and Cam. They meet at a bar when one Ellie’s friend is playing at. There is an instant attraction. Ellie runs a group of apartments run by her family. Cam is a professional photographer. He has come to Nashville to help his friend. Cam just happens to rent one of the apartments for two months. Ellie’s family company has a policy not to date the tenants. Cam and Ellie start dating. They each have issues but together they work them out and fall in love.
Super cute read! I love the cover as well, I think it will do a great job catching people's attention. Pick this book up!
Heart-warming and swoony. That's how I'll describe this one. I enjoyed reading this book a lot. It was just the right book at the right time. I personally would've never thought of Nashville as charming, but this author made me want to visit it. Character, backstory and plot development on point.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this eARC to review.
Madison is now a new auto buy author for me! I enjoyed this so much I ordered a signed copy for release.
Didn’t read book one.
Ellie is a massive people pleaser to toxic parents, who keeps everything to herself and needs community. Wes wants a fresh start and a partner and is so adorably committed despite the challenges.
This was a light and quick read. I was really intrigued by the premise and was okay with the how the storyline played out. I didn’t really find myself connecting with the main characters but I enjoyed some of the side characters like Ellie’s brother, Alex. I thought Ellie and Cam were cute but sometimes I felt as if their back and forth was a bit repetitive. Other than that, it was an easy and cute read.
This one was okay. Nothing really grabbed me and brought me back to keep reading it, but I didn’t dislike it per se.
a new autobuy author!! cannot wait for more from madison <3
Ellie Bates is in big trouble.
When her parents, the owners of the apartment complex she manages, tell her she’s on her last strike, Ellie knows she can’t break any more rules or risk getting fired. She needs to tread very, very carefully or chance falling straight through this thin ice beneath her feet.
That’s easier said than done when Camden Lane moves into her complex and starts flipping her world upside down. But dating residents is off-limits and getting close to him is a rule she's not willing to break.
Camden Lane can’t get Ellie out of his head.
He may be in town for work, but it’s Ellie that his focus keeps drifting toward. Between his impending departure date and her parent’s rules, he knows nothing can happen. Except, the more time they spend together, the harder and harder it gets to resist the pull they feel toward each other.
When the lines between them start to blur, Camden and Ellie have to decide where their priorities lie. Is what they have worth what’s at stake?
I’ve tried to get into reading and finishing this book a few times. Unfortunately, it isn’t holding my interest and I just put it down for a while. I think this will be a DNF for me.
I loved reading this one. I just love this kind of books.
4 stars read for me. I love this author snd her writing style.
Thanks to netgally for this arc.
Oh, this was such a cute read! I loved Camden and Ellie! The tropes surrounding those two were just chef's kiss and were executed quite well.
The forbbiden trope? Ugh, I'm a sucker for it. The main characters, our lovely couple, were so adorable. The strangers to lovers was so well written and was just perfectly heartwarming. The passion was there, the intrigue was fun and I just loved it.
I enjoyed the down on her luck FMC, it makes the plot so much more active in the romance story. There were also so many relatable things - the disappointed parents? Yep, my heart instantly was like - I know this and I empathise. Ellie being a romantic? Well, of course I'm relating, here I am giving a review on a romance book! MMC being incredibly realistic but in the good way? Who would've thought I'd enjoy that?
Overall, I quite enjoyed this book quite a lot.
A PERFECT no spice, fall, cosy romance. I love Elles hopeless romantic character, the romance itself was perfect and I absolutely loved the writing and pasing
This was fine. I liked Cam but I wasn't overly fond of Ellie and her parents were the worst. I also found myself skimming a lot. Idk, it was kind of middle of the road for me.
absolutely LOVED this story!! it’s so cute and sweet and made my heart so happy to read. Madison Wright always writes such good stories and every single one is always amazing.
Just Between Us is the perfect fall romance book to read with a cup of coffee. I devoured Ellie & Cam’s story so quickly and loved every second of it.
*closed door romance*
I absolutely loved this book. It hooked me and kept me turning pages until I was done. Finished it in two days! The character development was strong, and the premise was unique enough that it didn't feel like anything else I've read.

This book was the perfect cozy sweater, eat homemade 🥣, while drinking tea ☕️ by the fire 🔥 type of book (my favorite kind).
Madison’s descriptions paint 🎨 an image of a world I want to live in. So much so, that I had to make myself some tea 🫖 and add a dollop of honey 🍯 while reading.
This is a sweet and wholesome love story between Ellie and Camden that begins the first night they meet (some meetings are written in the stars ✨).
A landlord/resident forbidden love where lines begin to cross as they spend more time together.
I saw myself in Ellie. Often times trying so hard to please others, while wanting so much more. Her style is my kind of style, too. Unapologetically herself.
Cam is exactly who and what Ellie needs in her life. The tension and chemistry was palpable. The way Cam cares for her, makes my heart beat faster. He also says the perfect thing to Ellie when she needs it the most.

“I’m driven by need—a need to touch her, to taste her, to see if she feels for me what I feel for her—but it’s the way she settles into me, swaying slightly to the sound of the music, that calms me down.”
THIS. BOOK. YALL.

This was my first read by Madison Wright, and I have to say I enjoyed it!
I will admit, it took me some time to get into it. I was put off by Ellie’s parents, or rather, her need to appease them at the expense of herself. It was an interesting relationship to watch, but it was difficult to watch Ellie isolate herself from friends, family, and even her love interest, Cam, due to her parent's need for her to be the perfect employee. But as the story progressed, I could understand where she was coming from. The final third of the book showcased her growth.
Ellie and Cam’s relationship was realistically paced and romantic. Honestly, I loved Cam and his patience with Ellie, his quiet romantic gestures, and his constant support. I also enjoyed the journey his character took, from being uncertain in his career and situation in life to finding his footing on his own. Both had good chemistry and their scenes together were the highlight for me.
This was a quick, sweet read and I would read more from Madison Wright.
*I received a complimentary copy of this book. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.
2.5 stars (rounded up).
"Just Between Us" by Madison Wright is the very low stakes, overly sweet, forbidden love, helps-her-when-she-is-sick, strangers-to-friends-to-lovers, cinnamon roll hero, closed-door romantic follow-up to "Just Go With It." It can be read as a standalone, but the characters from the first book do appear in this one. book. I preferred "Just Go With It."
The mood here is cozy and the atmosphere is very late fall/early winter, which I love. I love how MMC Cam clearly adores FMC Ellie, going the extra mile to keep their relationship under wraps, as per her request. The part about the honey in the tea was adorable (though it gets repetitive as it is brought up many times). But honestly? They both needed way more backstory. I didn't really connect with them as a couple. This book is more pages than its predecessor but lacks the same detail and connection.
The chemistry between Lo and Wes in the first book was much more palpable and realistic than it was between Ellie and Cam. I hated how Ellie kept needing the approval of her parents despite them being absolute monster-people. The way they treat their daughter is abhorrent, and honestly, screw them! Why does she so desperately need to prove herself to them when they are going to hate her no matter what she does? She's a bit of a pushover, letting them threaten her into living a s**tty, existence life because...they don't connect with her as their kid?? WHAT?? She keeps overworking herself to the bone for them, for people who treat her like garbage and dismiss her without listening to her reasons or rationale. We don't know WHY they act this way with her (perhaps *not* her brothers), it's never explained more than "we don't connect with you." WHAT?? Again, could have done with some backstory. Ellie's miserable and gives up everything that makes her happy for....what, a blood bond? So freaking what?!! Their approval isn't worth the misery. At that point, BYE, you know?
The forbidden love isn't really *that* forbidden, just deeply frowned upon? There are virtually no stakes. It seems like it would have been a blessing for Ellie to get fired. Ellie lies about Cam and their relationship to everyone she cares about, potentially isolating herself even further for....what?! Silly, unnecessary reasons!
Ellie and Cam have pretty bad communication (and I loooooathe the miscommunication trope). When he wants to tell her he's decided that he's going to stay in Nashville, she won't even give him the time of day to tell her the truth. A little eye-rolly and grating.
I also found some parts of the book to be extremely repetitive. How many times do we need to know Ellie "sucked in her bottom lip"? It's seriously written about 10+ times. I can only read about eating soup and drinking tea and watching movies on the couch together so many times before I start to get bored.
I don't want to tell authors how to write their books, but come *on,* I am a red-blooded person, not a chaste teenager... it takes more than kissing and neck-canoodling for me to stick around. These books feel like they are written for Christian soccer moms who would blush to hear the words "Fifty Shades of Grey" used in a sentence. It doesn't have to be full-on smut, but a little more than kissing would have gone a long way toward making the audience feel more of Ellie and Cam's connection. It just feels so unnecessary pure and virginal...like it's not really for adults, but more for kids.
I'll still read the next book in the series, but I hope it's better than this story.
Thank you to NetGalley and Madison Wright for providing me with an ARC copy of this book! All opinions are my own, and I was not compensated for my review.
I really enjoyed this book! It’s closed door but I didn’t feel like it took away from the story at all. This is book 2 in the series but can be read as a stand-alone without being confused.
