This was previously published as Predator in 2020, but has been re-released with revisions ~ I do wonder what changes were made.

Featuring ~ single 1st person POV, revenge, serial killer, dark elements of pedophilia, molestation & rape, some steamage on the f/m and f/f front

Camille is a fashion magazine editor by day and Lady Dexter by night brutally killing rapists and pedophiles. She's rich, arrogant and thinks she can outsmart anyone.

The chapters and paragraphs are both on the longer side, with most chapters being about 30-40 minutes long. There were plenty of flashbacks that tell the tales of her previous kills as if she were reliving the high from them. She definitely has no qualms about what she's done and continues to do.

Overall, a quick read that kept me engaged and curious how it would all end. I was satisfied with the conclusion.

Side note ~ it was like the author googled the top 30 fancy shmancy designers and name dropped em all.

Well that was a brilliant little read! I may sound deranged but I really liked Camilla as a character! The ending though was a twist

Pretty Evil is a murderous mash-up of Dexter Vs. The Devil Wears Prada. It’s impossible not to be drawn into the sinister world of Camilla, a predator in editors’ clothing.

Pretty Evil is a different kind of beast!

Life has a habit of turning us, making us think and act differently it is a part of us whether we want it to be or not. Those traumatic events that become entwined with our DNA, changes our chemistry, it makes you question if you would’ve still gone down this path if it hadn’t happened. The truth is, you’ll never know – it’s a hard pill to swallow.

Camilla is the editor of a high-end fashion magazine – Couture. She’s climbed the ranks, through hard work and dedication. She puts forward a slick appearance, she loves her designer brands, her minimalist décor, and her Mayfair apartment. She loves all of these things but it’s the perfect alibi for her extracurricular activities. Under the cover of darkness, she likes to hunt out victims and slay them in rather imaginative ways. Camilla, the editor is a serial killer.

After reading Pretty Evil I have to say I kind of found myself lost for words. That doesn’t happen that often…the writing really brought this storyline to life. The inner monologue of Camilla was addictive to the point where I was completely on her side and hoping that she wouldn’t get caught. I often found myself trying to have a quiet word with myself and reminding myself that there’s a certain thing called morals. That’s how good the writing is that you fall into the spell of the apparent bad guy.

Camilla isn’t just any serial killer. Camilla is a serial killer with only vigilante justice in mind. She picks her victims by a strict moral code. She picks off men that are predators in society. Murderers, abusers, rapists, and paedophiles. Upon targeting Julian, a man that has a fetish for drugging and raping his tinder dates, Camilla decides to exact a little revenge. Think Editor with a crossbow (totally hobo with a crossbow came to mind.) She set him up artfully and she takes pride in her work. It’s messed up but her type of vigilante justice is always justified in her mind.

Every event that takes place leaves a wound. Camilla is broken from the events of her past, a past that has now seeped into her present. A past that has made her overconfident, and willing to take more risks which now has DCI Wheelan knocking at her door. The police are getting too close to discovering her murderous acts. Will it all blow over or will she be caught as she plans to do one last kill that has landed on her lap?

This is such an incredible, fast-paced read from the beginning to end! At the start, the reader is placed straight into the action with the main character on a date.

Now, don't get me wrong, the book starts and continues to be dark. We follow a serial killer whose victims are rapists, paedophiles and female abusers. The scariest part of this book is you often find yourself agreeing with her justification for ridding the world of these horrible men. Although, at some point, the justice system catches up with her. Like all serial killers, she got sloppy. So we watch, eagerly waiting to see if she gets caught.

There are also rather steamy scenes in the book with her "lovers" which were so good, usually I'm not one for spice in books, but this was so well written.

Before picking this up, I would recommend reading up the trigger warnings as there are very dark themes of domestic violence and child abuse.

I love a bad chick that gets revenge and Camilla does just that! I felt the constant references to Camilla's designer labels and penthouse were a tad annoying but the writing style was good. This book is a quick enjoyable read. I read reviews where people felt the ending was rushed. I did not feel it was rushed and I liked the ending. Thank you Netgalley and Amazon Publishing UK for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This was my very first read of the new year and what a banger of a read it was! I absolutely devoured it and omg those spicy scenes 🥵I was not expecting this book to be both deliciously hot and extremely dark and loved every bit of it. By day Camilla Black is a successful fashion editor who gives me Miranda Priestley vibes( the devil wears prada) and at night she's a vigilante murderer of rapists and pedophiles a female Dexter if you will who justifys her killings as ridding the world of scum and making it safer for women, it's like killing is her form of therapy to come to terms with how she had suffered at the hands of men. This book does get quiet dark so I do recommend to check out trigger warnings beforehand.

i was recently listening to a podcast on the real-life version of Dexter and it got me excited to start this book when i realised it’s something similar, with a female protagonist no less.

and i don’t think i’m disappointed!

while the ending came as a surprise to me, i don’t think it’s a bad way to conclude it, though i would love to have more explanation to the way Eva and Briony have acted.

A dark story about revenge. A woman is determined to punish men who hurt woman by killing them. She has two lives, her day job as a fashion editor and a night job as a vigilante. I sped through this book. It is a little graphic in the scenes so be aware if that is not your type of book. I found Camilla to be an enjoyable character. I loved the authors writing style and would read more by this author.

This book was deliciously dark and I was instantly obsessed. Camilla the main character is so well written with a complex personality that makes you feel you need to root for even though she's the devil in disguise. I also love that they showed us hints of her good side. I was so hooked on this and believe there is scope for a brilliant sequel. You should definitely read this if you like the sweetpea series and how to kill your family but love a dark thriller too.

Camilla Blsck isn’t what she seems. On the outside she is a well dressed fashion editor at Couture Magazine. She wears only designer clothes., designer jewelry and designer bags and shoes.
She has a few select friends but nothing like a best friend. She had three lovers one an actor out of the country, one a rough and tumble personal trainer snd the other a beautiful student that is her polar opposite. It was odd seeing Camilla with Vanessa but it fit.
All this is a mask that hides the real evil inside.
Yes our main character is a serial killer and we know it from the start. We watch her kill.
We only get good looks at a few characters. Some of these are the bad people she kills, her Lover Abay, her lover , Vanessa , her assistant snd Camilla herself, oh and a detective as well. These characters are interesting and it’s important to see inside the bad people, to see why she kills them.
Camilla herself is a fabulous, unique, well imagined character.
The story is fast paced as we follow through Camilla life.

The only thing I didn’t like was way too much detail to smal stuff like everything she wears every time
She changes. That’s a lot. It describes designers, colors, everything in great detail for her and all characters. A time or two I understood because it was showing her change from her life growing up but soon became overkill. Pun intended.
However the story is absolutely amazing. Dark, unique, shocking with a surprise ending. It’s a good author that can make you like the bad guy… or is she?

Described as Dexter in Heels (which is a perfect description) , Pretty Evil is the debut thriller (She has written romance novels previously) from Zoe Rosi and it is so good!!
Camilla is one of those characters that you shouldn’t love but absolutely do, a bit like Hannibal Lecter – and I found myself rooting for her all the way. What was really clever was how the author portrayed the internal and external views of Camilla so well. On the outside, she’s a confident, kick ass and oh so glamourous woman. Though her own thoughts, it becomes obvious this is not how she feels about herself at all. It’s so cleverly written and really means I got a much deeper insight into the character. There is something really intoxicating about Camilla. You want to be like her (in some ways) or even want to be her. She’s dangerous but alluring and addictive in such a powerful way. Fantastic character development.
I love the vigilante theme. Camilla holds nothing back and her split life is fast paced and intense. It’s difficult not to feel some kind of solidarity with her most of the time to be fair. The cat and mouse chase between her and a new detective really ramps up the suspense and it was so difficult to put the book down and stop each night.
A brilliant debut crime thriller from Zoe Rosi. I was already a fan of her romance novels – she has now demonstrated she has such a versatility as a writer and I cannot wait to read more.

I LOVE CAMILLA!!! Angel of Vengeance ridding London of despicable male specimens. She is brutal with her methods! Absolutely bloody amazing as far as serial killing vigilantes go!! Her opening kill is just stunning! Just wow!!!!

The way Camilla lives this double life of fashion editor and killer is brilliant. Her voice throughout is addictive. She has her clear boundaries where work and play never shall meet. Her victims are truly deserved of their fate but totally unsuspecting until Camilla draws them into her web of death. Then there is a third side to Camilla, her sensuality and it is HOT!!! A word of warning. There are some rather steamy sex scenes 🔥🔥 Camilla certainly knows how to have fun in the bedroom!!

I devoured Pretty Evil in two sittings. I was hooked from the off, glued to my kindle as Camilla plotted and planned how to rid the planet of vermin. This is one brutal and sexy read (not for the faint hearted me thinks). Totally and utterly loved it! I for one would love to see more from Camilla!!!

Pretty Evil is a Dexter-Like thriller previously published under the title “Predator”. Camilla is a fashion magazine editor by day, serial killing vigilante by night. But she’s “killing for all the right reasons” ridding the world of predators. Fast paced with some dark, graphic and sometimes steamy content but it was very engrossing and I read it in just a few sittings. Thank you to Expresso Tours and Netgalley for the review copy. I give this 4 of 5 stars, my thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.

Behind this seductive cover is a female version of Dexter. Or maybe a very demented Super Girl! If you enjoyed watching Dexter, buckle up for the violent and deadly ride Camilla is going to take you on! Lots of TWs in this one.

She is a powerful female protagonist and the editor of a fashion magazine. Bold, gorgeous, sassy, and unforgettable! It’s easy to look up to a woman like her. Her evenings can be brutal. Growing up with an abusive father gave her urges she can’t ignore. She seeks out rapists and other predators to deliver the punishment they deserve…according to her. Much more severe than the court system doles out.

“Nothing’s more fun than playing a player at their own game. Drugging the druggers. Abusing abusers. Controlling controllers. Don’t worry, I’m not into raping rapists. Sometimes I murder them…”- “Pretty Evil” by Zoe Rosi

After a visit from Detective Wheelan, she worries she’s been too careless with her last victim. Things didn’t go as planned but she never thought she’d be linked to Julian. Can she resist her urges?

Sincere thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources and Zoe Rosi for providing this gifted book through NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

Thank you NetGalley and Zoe Rosi for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

I don’t know what I expected when I picked this up, but I know for a fact this wasn’t it. This was so incredibly good!! The opening has you hooked, reading from the POV of Camilla while she is staring at the dead man. The way it is written is just so… perfect. I was literally on her side going “oh cool she killed her own rapist. You go girl!” When it was so much deeper than that. This book was gripping, thrilling, suspenseful, and ultimately unforgettable. I was with her on every decision.

It’s a little dark. It dives deep into Camilla’s mind and why she makes the decisions that she does and even explores the raunchy details she really wants to act out. I want to compare this writing style to that of Caroline Kepnes in her series “You”. It makes you understand and accept the criminals point of view in the most beautiful way… I am only giving 4 stars as I am slightly upset with the ending.. I was so into this character and rooting for her that I am disappointed she didn’t get to follow through with her final plans.. although it did end with the perfect opportunity for a second book.

Thank you to Netgalley for allowing me to read this book. I thought it was absolutely fantastic! It was everything I love in a book, fast paced, gripping and a lead character that really stands out. It did remind me of the Sweet Pea series and in my opinion Pretty Evil was just as good. Would definitely recommend this book. A massive 5 stars from me.

Everything about Pretty Evil by Zoe Rosi spoke to me, the fabulous cover and title, the blurb that did nothing but whet my appetite. I love villains, especially when there is a strong, female protagonist to make them pay. I love diverse characters, and Camilla qualifies.

I love the cat and mouse game between Camilla, a vigilante serial killer, and Detective Wheelan, who never gives up once he sinks his teeth into a case. I couldn’t see how Zoe Rosi would make me happy, but she did. If I was watching this as a movie or TV series, I would have been talking to Camilla, and she would probably tell me to shut up and sit down. She’s got this. LOL

I love a character that walks to the beat of her own drum. Camilla has remade herself into a fashionista, the editor of Coutoure magazine. Money can make things possible and she takes full advantage of it. She dons a mask, like the clothes she wears.

I’m not into raping rapists. Sometimes I murder them….

The feeling is strange: I feel powerful, knowing he’s at my mercy…is this why men use date rape drugs? I’d always thought it was about getting a guaranteed fuck, but now I see it’s about having a sense of complete control. It’s about being godlike.

Julian…and the roof scene…I had to do a little research to get the gist of what Camilla was going for and I love it. For me, gruesome and brutal, is good. It makes me feel satisfied in a way that real life, many times, does not. If do unto others as you would have others do unto you really applied, maybe people would rethink their actions. That is the wonderful thing about fiction, anything goes.

In Chapter 18, at 94%, I had to put my ereader down. I was reluctant to find out what comes next. I was afraid for her. How can this end in a way where I will be satisfied? Camilla…watch out…but, I should have known that Zoe Rosi was three steps ahead of me…and I LOVE IT! The story can end here, but the character is fascinating, complex, driven, so I could see more coming. Is Camilla talking to you, Zoe? I certainly hope so.

The story is riveting, and I was compelled to keep reading; it was that good!

Pretty Evil is a gritty and dark thriller of a novel: tense, twisted, and full of surprises. The story unfolds through the eyes of a murderer, Camilla herself, so readers are privy to her thoughts and feelings and firsthand narrative. Camilla is chameleon-like, and I wondered throughout the tale whether she was a reliable narrator at all. Her backstory is fascinating and horrible; she was an abused child whom no one believed.

Camilla functions in London’s world of high fashion and the ultra-wealthy: but that’s her “day job.” We are also treated to a variety of London’s less sparkling neighborhoods and suburbs as she researches and tracks down her next project. There are vivid descriptions of the murders that are committed and a good handful of explicit sexual encounters, making this book one for mature audiences only.

The action begins immediately and never lets up. The plot is tightly constructed with Camilla enacting her vengeance, seeking to blow off steam with her lovers, taking evasive maneuvers to throw off the police, and going on to track down her next victim. The story is riveting, and I completed the book in only two reading sessions; it was that good!

With its fascinating secret assassin as a protagonist and an exciting and compelling storyline, I highly recommend PRETTY EVIL to readers who enjoyed the series, Dexter, how-done-its, thrillers, and gripping tales set in London.

I received an advance review copy for free and am leaving this review voluntarily. Thank you Zoe Forward and Xpresso Book Tours. I'm excited to be a part of this tour.

Pretty Evil is Zoe Rosi’s debut book and boy is it dark – in all the good ways! Camilla Black an affluent, respected, and influential editor is living a double life. By day she is queen of fashion magazine editor. By night, she is a vigilante killer and murdered hell bent on wreak vengeance upon bad men.

Because of her own abuse as a child, Camilla takes it upon herself to track down and kill all the child molesters in her area. The descriptions of their murders are gruesome, and this book is not for the faint of heart. While I don’t usually read this dark of thrillers, I did enjoy this one. I like being taken into her head and while I do not condone this behavior, I imagine this is what many victims would like to do to their predators, if only murder weren’t illegal.

I don’t want to give spoilers; the characters are well developed and full of depth. I enjoyed the dual plots of Camilla’s double life. The descriptions are vivid, and I felt like I was living the story with Camilla. The writing style grabs the reader, sucks them in, and leaves them wanting more. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Think a Female Dexter but more intense.

I loved everything about it. I love Zoe Rosi's writing, I love her characters and her plots. After her previous book, I knew what I was getting, her other book was detailed and quite... graphic I guess. And this was too - only the intense scenes were more frequent in this book so I found myself skimming more which is the only reason this book didn't get 5 stars. The ending is weirdly satisfying and I'd be happy if this book got a sequel
