What if you wrote a list of all the people you needed to forgive - and then started to hear about terrible things happening to the people on your list? Intriguing concept that definitely drew me in. At the start of the book we meet Frankie who is going to anger management classes where she’s encouraged to make this list. And then very quickly unsettling things start happening in her life - could it just be a coincidence?
There were parts in the middle that felt slow to me and I did a little skimming. And the ending was a little over the top but fun.
Thank you to the author, publisher and Netgalley for the advance reading copy.
This was an utterly gripping, fun, and fast-paced action book. Frankie, the
main character was a total firecracker! She was a bit unhinged and acted irrational at times but I still liked her. Reading this book was more like watching a movie kind of experience. I loved the “Fight Club” vibes and the shocking ending.
Thank you NetGalley for this ARC that was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.
I love this author but this book didnt do anything for me. The main character was unlikeable and i coulndt get into the story.
This was ok, but not my favorite by HMM. I thought the writing wasn't the best, the dialog was forced, and Frankie was infuriating to follow along with. There were slumps in the pacing but ultimately the ending was satisfying and one I didnt see coming
Frankie is a mess and I loved it. I loved her flawed angry self so much. She is just flammable and she goes around burning folks, most of whom deserve it, but she can't keep herself out of trouble. She loves fiercely, which makes her crazier.
I honestly wanted to hang out with her because I do love my hotheaded friends. No one loves you more fiercely, you just have to watch your steps.
I also loved Evan. What a great character. And Edith. OMG I love Edith. I know a few Ediths.
I loved trying to figure out who was hurting all these people on the list. I know I have made ridiculous lists when I was feeling edgy. What if something started happening to those people?
I also loved the insurance company bothering Rico because that is something I have dealt with and so have many of my friends. Just let us get the kids out of the hospital before you start in like this.
The end is absolute perfection.
Another dark and twisty book by Hannah Mary McKinnon. The ending was especially grim but also delicious. I do have to say the MC was someone I did not really like and found myself frustrated at her lack of communication. This was a slow burn novel which has you waiting and anticipated that big reveal and twist. Not my favourite from this author but I still enjoyed it!
The Revenge List is the latest thriller by Hannah Mary McKinnon and focuses on Frankie Morgan, a woman with extreme anger issues. Her explosive temper is so intense that her father, who is also her boss, insists that she attend anger management classes. However, after attending one class and completing one assignment of a forgiveness list, her life quickly spirals out of control as well as the people she included on her list. She has an unsettled feeling that she is being watched, as well as some people on her list are getting injured. Is it a coincidence or is something sinister happening?
What I liked about the book:
-short chapters with great tension and buildup that kept me intrigued and wanting to read more
-the red herrings and twist and turns
-the cliffhanger ending which opened the doors to a potential sequel
-the realistic portrayal of a dysfunctional family
-unique topic of female anger management issues
-flawed,angry main character yet the author also showed some more positive character traits which gave Frankie dimension
-Frankie’s vulnerability mixed with a hard edge as well as some quirkiness
-great flow and writing style
What I disliked about the book:
-Frankie was infuriating and her own worst enemy, her over the top reactions made her unlikeable but also gave the character depth
-more expansion of backstory for some secondary characters particularly Geraldina and Chelsea
My rating: 4 out of 5 stars
My final takeaway: I’d recommend this book for fans of quick, tension filled, twisty thrillers that enjoy exploring the dynamics of a flawed angry character as she navigates through her quickly spiraling life.
Trigger warnings: sexual assault, gaslighting, sexual harassment
Many thanks to Netgalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing Mira for this eARC.
I liked this book and was not expecting the story to go as it did. I enjoyed the characters and could not put it down.
“someone had once told me we were all the sum of our experiences, that our past almost inevitably shaped our present and future unless we made a conscious effort to stop it from doing so.”
I wish I had better things to say but this was a huge miss for me. The storyline was all over the place and I felt like there were too many side plots and twists.
The MC, Frankie, was extremely infuriating. Real people just don’t act like that; her anger issues were just too much. And it’s hard to feel bad for her or feel anything for her because she put herself into these wild situations every single time. I thought that too much happened to her throughout the book, it was like she couldn’t catch a break. And then, a happy every after? And then after that, a cliffhanger?
This story wanted to be a little bit of everything, but it ended up being both too much and not enough. Thank you to Harlequin and Mira Books for gifting me this review copy of THE REVENGE LIST.
I found the book was gripping right from the beginning. It was very easy to read and hard to put down

📖 The Revenge List by Hannah Mary Mckinnon
Rating: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
One thing that Hannah Mary McKinnon does well in her thrillers is giving the characters life. Even though they may not always be likeable, I truly get s feel for each character and what they are like. Doesn’t happen often in thrillers and I love that.
Plot: Frankie, a woman with intense anger management issues writes a list of everyone who’s wrong her and slowly- one by one they are ending up hurt. Who’s doing it??
Very unique plot- while it took me awhile to get into once I got into Frankie’s head and the story grew wheels- I was GRIPPED.
Writing: The writing was excellent. Frankie was written so well as were all the side characters.
Ending: THAT CLIFFHANGER THO 😭. I loved the ending so much.
Book 90 of 2023
I enjoy this author’s novels so was very excited to read this one. While an unique topic (female anger management issues), I found it hard to connect with the main character and found her over-the-top. I also found the ending too obvious and over-the-top as well. The main character had a lot of anger issues and we do learn why and we do see how she learns to better manage them but she is too extreme/unrealistic in some of her actions. I found it hard to really root for her. Just an average read for me.
Thanks to the publisher for this complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.

Frankie Morgan has rage issues. This is why her father insisted she start attending an anger management group. But Frankie is mad. So mad that her ‘forgiveness’ list turns into a ‘revenge; list. When a handsome stranger in the group taunts her to bail the meeting and head to a nearby coffee shop, she agrees. Only he finds himself a target of Frankie’s limitless anger when she finds him going through her wallet.
Then Frankie’s notebook containing work info and her ‘list’ goes missing. Strange things start happening, like flowers on her doorstep and still that missing notebook. Could the handsome stranger really be responsible for all these weird things that have occurred since she met him?
Loved how this seemingly normal story about learning about forgiveness turned into a dark thriller that finds Frankie the subject of some pretty harrowing coincidences. Well planned for us to see the dark side of everyday life, this novel takes us from a terrifying prologue right up to the epilogue which shows that forgiveness is in fact a process, but possible. There is a lot of sadness and darkness in this book, but there are lessons too.
Great story!
And just when things are looking up…..this poor woman just can not catch a break. A good read, with a twist, although the anger was overwhelming and this made the read more difficult for me. The ending made me hopeful, then another problem happened and a slight cliffhanger ensued. Good book, a definite add to your TBR list.
Yikes! This is a spooky one! When Frankie attends an anger management group session, she makes a list of the people she needs to forgive. When the people on the list are harmed, one by one, she starts questioning everything! This was a good thrilled and kept me on the edge of my seat!
Hannah Mary McKinnon is an auto buy author for me and this book did not disappoint! In fact I’d love to see more of this story and think there could easily be a sequel. I loved everything about Frankie Morgan she’s flawed, angry, has a layered story and has no problem telling everyone exactly how she feels. I instantly felt like she could be a friend that you’re rooting for but can’t seem to stay out of trouble. I loved the mystery here, I had a feeling what was going on but the story was told well I was on the edge of my seat the whole time and did not want to put this book down!
This book is definitely full of twists and turns. I disliked the main character at first but with time you learn why she is the way she is. Quick read would recommend
I have thoroughly enjoyed reading Hannah Mary McKinnon's books over the years, so when I saw there was a new one, I got so excited! Frankie is the epitome of "unhinged," and I had a really difficult time connecting with her. I understood the premise of the story, but I didn't feel drawn in by the plotline at all. I also caught onto where the story was going early on, so the ending was underwhelming for me. Maybe I need to steer clear of totally unhinged FMCs, but this was not HMM's best work in my opinion.
Frankie is always angry and blowing up at the slightest provocation. When she goes to her first anger management session things begin to spiral out of control. Through many twists and turns this book will have you glued to the pages to see if what you think you’ve figured out is right and how it will all play out.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. Thank you NetGalley, Hannah Mary McKinnon and Harlequin Books for hearing my honest review. Looking forward to reading more with you
