At the start of this book Frankie annoyed me with her anger issues. As the story developed I began to understand Frankie and actually like her.
Even though I figured out who was exacting revenge I still enjoyed the suspense. I hope there is a sequel for this one. Thank you Netgalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for the ARC in exchange for my review.
Holy bananas! This read was WILD and SO Good!! Longtime fan of Hannah’s writing, this story did not disappoint! Thank you to Harlequin for this review copy!
Frankie is an angry woman. That’s why she finds herself in anger management classes. It’s what happens after that initial class that puts her on a collision course for a wild ride! She’s got good reason to be angry, her Mom was hit when she was younger, her clients for her dads construction business are crazy and her next door neighbor leaves a lot to be desired.
I find myself understanding Frankie, people are simply “crazy” in this world we’re living in. This story was written so well, it was easy to become interested and stay that way from the first chapter to the last. The characters were well developed and the plot, climax and ending were awesome! I really enjoyed this read and I’m giving it four stars! Highly recommend this one as well as Hannah’s earlier reads.
Thank you to NetGalley for the advance reader copy of this book. This book has a main character that is miserable and horrible, yet, I couldn’t get enough of her. Great story telling with lots of twists. 4 stars
Frankie's father once her to attend anger management classes and try to calm some of the anger within her. On the 1st night Frankie tries to listen to the leader as much as she can and hears her assign their first task, which is to write a forgiveness list of all the people they need to forgive. On a weird change of events, Frankie gets into an altercation with one of the group members and she takes a strange uber ride and her list is mysteriously missing. If that's not enough to spook you, the worst happens. People are killed one by one on her list so she sets out to catch the killer before its too late.
. I flew through this twisty, exciting thriller series. The Revenge List is a breath of fresh air that ends with a jaw-dropping gasp. I just think this book was done perfectly to frighten and keep you interested.
Interesting thriller! This book kept me guessing right until the very end!
This psychological thriller was unlike any other I have read before. The rush to try and protect those on the "revenge list" was a well thought out part of the overall tale. I highly recommend to all those who love a psychological thriller!
When I first saw this title, I immediately thought of Arya, from Game of Thrones, and her “list”.
This one had a lot of potential, but parts made me irrationally irritated. Which is funny because the main character has anger issues. The book starts with her in anger management where she needs to write down a list of name of people she can work on forgiving. But then her list goes missing and bad things start happening to the people who were on her list.
It’s a quick read and if you like who done it books then I would recommend this one.
Frankie Morgan is a ticking time bomb of rage. Since her mom died 19 years earlier she has been trying to feel something, anything. Anger is her answer to everything and it keeps landing her in trouble. As she seeks out anger management, she takes the forgiveness list exercise and makes it her own persona revenge list. She was wronged, not them. As people are getting hurt and dying though, she needs to figure out who is using her list because her name is on there too.
I loved the idea of this book I just wish the protagonist, Frankie, wasn't so self-destructive. I know it was part of why she was in anger management but her choices were hard to believe after a while. Despite that, I really enjoyed the unique premise and the twist of who was behind the murders completely surprised me! I would totally pick up a sequel...
3.5 stars
Thanks to Harlequin and MIRA books for the copy to review.
This was my first time to read Hannah Mary McKinnon and I definitely can’t wait to read more books by her. I lover her style of writing and the way she weaved the story all together. Frankie Morgan is a tough angry lady. She is enrolled in anger management classes but those seem to push her over the edge. She works for her Dad and has had a difficult time in her teen years with a pregnancy and loss of her Mother. She has a list of all the people that have wronged her in life. Each person on her list start to get hurt one by one and each accident is deadlier than the last. She finally meets her son and realizes he is responsible for some of these events.. The novel is full of twist and turns. You will definitely love this book.
My first foray into Hannah Mary McKinnon was Sister Dear (which was amazing), so I was thrilled to receive an ARC of The Revenge List. Once again, Ms. McKinnon hit it out of the park! The Revenge List was the ultimate domestic thriller, filled with family drama, heartbreak and deep secrets. I thought the characters were developed flawlessly, and the storyline was well-executed. Don't sleep on this one!!
Frankie isn't exactly a likable character. She has anger issues, and she carries around a notebook with a list of people who have done her wrong. One day, her notebook goes missing, and suddenly, people on her list start getting hurt in freak accidents.
Once I found out what Frankie's back story was, it was easy to understand why she was so angry and she became more likable. There were times when I was really frustrated with her, though!
This was a bit of a slow burn at times, but it held my attention, and I really enjoyed it!
Thank you @netgalley, @_mira_books_ , @htpbooks and the author for the e-arc of this book.
This book was pretty compelling, even though parts were a bit slower than I expected. The mystery at the core is very light and the main focus is more on the main character's relationships and past issues. While this wasn't what I expected based on the description, the writing was engaging enough that I stuck through to the end. The main character was pretty fun to read when she was really angry but it could feel repetitive in the first half. Though as she digs deeper into what is happening to her, her attitude begins to shift. If you want a mystery that's lighter on plot and deeper on character, this might be a good fit for your shelf.
I read this back in February but life gave me a curveball and everything outside of my family took a back seat.
With that being said, I really loved this story. Frankie Morgan is a character that I could live vicariously through. She’s basically my inner bitch and even though she had some cringe-worthy temper outbursts, there’s just something about her take no crao attitude that I really admired. As I got to know more about Frankie, though, the more endearing she became and the more empathy I felt for her plight.
The plot is twisty and there’s a heck of a bombshell thrown in.
A quickly paced thriller from one of my favorites. Hoping for a sequel to Frankie’s story.
My thanks to @HTP for this gifted copy!
Frankie's temper has landed her in an anger management group that she grudgingly attends. There the leader of the group challenges them to make a "forgiveness list". Frankie makes out her list before she sneaks out of group early with a fellow attendee. At the coffee shop she catches Evan going through her purse and blows up. She discovers the only thing missing is her list. What follows is a twisty turn of events that keep you guessing.
I binge read this book in a weekend. Hannah Mary McKinnon knows how to write a bingeable thriller. This book had me trying to figure out who the guilty person was. Even though I had partially figured out what had happened in Frankie's past, and I wouldn't understand the role this detail would play in the story for sure until much later in the book, this was a suspenseful read.
I really liked the ending and this was a fast paced read that provided a satisfying ending in terms of Frankie's relationships with her family and people from her past. The ending does leave the reader wondering, what is next, but I kind of like that the author provided some closure for the reader and a mystery at the same time.
I look forward to reading more books written by this author in the future.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
This author is just so talented. All of her books are so different!
This one is about Frankie. Frankie has anger issues and after multiple blowups, she is forced to go to an anger management class. There, she writes a list of people she is angry at. Later, her list is lost (stolen?) and the people on it meet unfortunate events 👀
The Revenge List by Hannah Mary McKinnon is a thriller novel. The story in The Revenge list is one that is told from the point of view of the main character who is somewhat of an unreliable narrator.
Frankie Morgan has a temper and is going to attend anger management classe at the request of her father, and boss. The class Frankie joins is headed up by her father’s friend and the first task Frankie is given is to create a list of those she feels the most anger towards with the intention of forgiving those on the list.
After Frankie created her list of those she has struggled with hating the most though Frankie finds that her list has gone missing. Frankie doesn’t know how or why the list has vanished but she does know that some strange things begin to happen to those people that she wrote down on that list.
The Revenge List is not the first book I’ve read from author Hannah Mary McKinnon and it certainly will not be the last either. Quickly after picking up The Revenge List I found myself engrossed in the story and getting to know the main character. I found it interesting to focus on a character with anger issues that wasn’t an abusive character but someone that had plenty of things in her life to be angry about. I could feel sympathy with Frankie while also becoming intrigued as to what was happening and turning the pages faster and faster to see the outcome. Another engaging tale from the author who I have become a fan.
I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley
This was a good one! I’m gonna say right off the bat that it doesn’t have major thriller vibes until the last 15% of the book. It’s much more along the lines of drama and maybe a bit of mystery? I don’t know. It’s hard for me to define. Maybe a super light popcorn thriller.
In saying all that, I definitely still enjoyed it and loved the author’s writing! I found her style to be a bit different than the last one I read (Never Coming Home), but I liked that there was a change of flavour.
Frankie (the MC) made me unbelievably mad. She has some anger issues, and that ends up causing her to make so many stupid decisions. I kept wanting to scream at my Kindle. But it was a good level of hatred, and it didn’t take away from the story at all.
Although I did predict the main twist, it was still so fun to read about it and see how the author presented it. It got creepy and cool and the ending was so good!
Thank you to Harper Collins Canada for my gifted copy!
I’ve seen great reviews about this book, and I was excited to read it. It’s about an angry woman who makes a forgiveness list during her anger management therapy session. The list goes missing shortly after it’s written, and tragedies suddenly starts happening to people on her list. Frankie is set on finding out who the culprit is before it’s too late.
I kept waiting to be swept away, but it did not happen. The only reason I kept reading was because I wanted to know who the suspect was, and what the reason was. I could not connect to the main character, who seemed too quick to pinpoint her accusations on one person. It seemed like she was going in circles, and I got bored. She was very aggressive and rude, which ended up annoying me.
Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for my digital ARC in exchange for a review. As always, my reviews are my own and unbiased opinions.
I freaking loved this book! It was everything I could’ve wanted and more. This author can do no wrong in my eyes. This is an exciting story that has engaging twists, hanging chapters, and an interesting concept. I definitely recommend this.
