This is the second book of the Blood of Eden series, I loved the first book and fortunately this one didn’t disappointed me it was as amazing as The immortal rules.
After getting Zeke and his party to the safety of Eden, Ally begins her quest to find Kanin from the Sarren, she follows the blood calling of Kanin but ends up meeting Jackal another member of her bloodline, I loved him, I have such major crush on characters that are funny, sarcastic and even a little bit of sadist, his humor was so on point the whole book and it brought a much needed fresh air to the story.
Ally is as strong and determined as usual, I love her, she’s so fierce, I can’t wait to see how Julie is going to deal with that major cliffhanger, I will be for sure reading the next one.
The Eternity Cure is the second book in the Blood of Eden trilogy and like the first book this book is amazing, the series is just getting better and better. Each book is an edge of your seat books and Julie Kagawa truly cannot do wrong at this point. She has fast become one of my auto-buy Author.
The Eternity Cure has so much more at stake and the humans are actually playing more of a part in this novel. The disease hanging over the vampires are also hanging over the humans.
An extremely fast paced read with so many amazing twists and turns that had you constantly guessing. It’s action packed and a series that you really must get to.
Julie Kagawa’s books and imagination is truly magnificent and none of her series are the same as the other she writes from Faeries to Vampire it is beyond amazing, can’t wait for book 3 to be released!
The Eternity Cure has been sat on my shelf for years and I always intended to pick it up but then never did. To be honest I wasn't an enormous fan of the first book in this series, The Immortal Rules. I enjoyed the premise of it, the dystopia world with vampires. It was pretty unique and cool but I just found it slow and pretty boring in places but there was just something about it that made me want to continue the series at some point. As part of my 2019 'Series Catch-Up Challenge' I finally picked up The Eternity Cure... and I am so glad that I did. This was far, far superior than the first book. I loved it!
The Eternity Cure follows Allison as she leaves the humans behind and goes in search of Kanin, her sire. But with lots of obstacles in the way, Allison seems to be running out of time. She needs to save Kanin and gain his help to stop the new plague that is on the rise. This one threatening to wipe out both humans AND vampires. Can she get to Kanin in time? And does he really have the answers?
I loved The Eternity Cure. It was absolutely amazing!! Right from the start I was totally enamoured by the characters, the world... everything. This was such a drastic change from the first book. The pace massively picks up in this one and I couldn't put the book down. There were twists and turns that I was not expecting and there were many times that I was left mouth agape unable to believe what just happened. It really showed Julie Kagawa at her storytelling best!
I am a big fan of Julie Kagawa as it is, I loved her Iron Fey series and although I was disappointed with The Immortal Rules, she is back to her best in this book. Her storytelling is phenomenal. She has developed this world so perfectly and it's so complex and there's more to everything than what you first think. I think with The Immortal Rules being slower paced it allowed for this amazing world development that made this book incredible! I am so, so happy that I continued.
The Eternity Cure blew me away! There was so much going on and I couldn't put it down. The ending felt a tad bit rushed to me which brought my rating down slightly but honestly I am so freaking excited to read the third book and see how all of this is going to end. I loved every second of The Eternity Cure and I am itching to get my hands on The Forever Song. This is looking like it'll be my favourite Julie Kagawa series. It's a must-read!
The file was messed up so I wasn't able to read it. Not sure what happened. But maybe someday I"ll grab the actual book and read it.
This book was one that has stayed with me over the years. I am now just looking back on some of these books and think that this one has to be added to my permanent library.
Oh she's done it again! I'm hooked on every book she writes. This author has turned out to be one of my all time favorites. Her writing style is so unique and it pulls you right into the story without letting you go till the very last word, even then I was thinking about this book months after I finished it.
The Eternity Cure has been among my most anticipated reads of 2013, and I was completely thrilled to obtain an ARC. The early reviews almost all agreed: The Eternity Cure improves on The Immortal Rules, which I really loved. Sadly, I never got absorbed into this one as much as I did with TIR. Perhaps I was in the wrong mood or was done in by expectations once again. For all that, The Eternity Cure is still a thrilling, adventure-packed saga that will appeal even to those who did not care for the Iron Fey books.
Julie Kagawa can write the heck out of some action scenes. She keeps the pace of Blood of Eden moving at a steady clip. There's pretty much always something exciting happening: sneaking, chase scenes, verbal sparring, kissing, or battles to the death. On top of that, the stakes are definitely raised. Where The Immortal Rules focused primarily on Allison fighting to maintain her humanity and on rescuing a little tribe of humans, in The Eternity Cure Allison is still trying to avoid becoming a monster, all while attempting to rescue Kanin her maker from a plot with far-reaching consequences.
Another big plus of this series is that, unlike Kagawa's Iron Fey series, romance is a very minor element in the plot. Survival comes first, and thinking about boys and their feelings comes second. For readers who like romance, yes, there is some, but the book doesn't go in the love triangle direction I was expecting. Plus, Allie doesn't just sit around all the time thinking about Zeke when she should be doing other things. Romance doesn't keep Allie from being a force to be reckoned with, especially when armed with her katana.
My favorite character, and my favorite aspect of The Eternity Cure, is Jackal. He's Allie's "brother," as he was also sired by Kanin. He also killed Zeke's dad and a couple of others from that little group, so he's her enemy. However, they have to team up to find Kanin/a cure for rabidism. Listen, Jackal isn't the most trustworthy guy around, but he knows what he is. What can I say? I'm weak to characters that unapologetically wield sarcasm. Jackal's black humor and brutal honesty are necessary to counteract Allie's endless optimism in the face of this post-apocalyptic world.
What kept The Eternity Cure from being a more beloved book of mine were the other characters. Both Allie and Zeke lack spark. They're nice, sure, but they're boring. They reminded me a lot of Stefan and Elena in TVD, right down to me rooting for the demise of their relationship. Kanin still has a lot of potential to be a fascinating character, but he gets so little actual screen time. In a first person narration, it's just really hard to care overly about where the book is headed if you don't love the MC.
The ending, too, was a mite disappointing. Kagawa employs one of my least favorite plot devices to bring everything to a close, which left me disappointed. I wanted the book to be just that slightest bit darker, even though I knew there was probably no way Kagawa would actually go there. Added to a number of other twists that felt very run of the mill, the ending lowered my rating from a 3.5 to a 3.
Kagawa's Blood of Eden series is cinematic and packed to the brim with action. If you enjoy vampires or dystopian/post-apocalyptic scenarios, this is a series you will not want to miss. I'm looking forward to book three, and hoping the romance between Zeke and Allie will fizzle out, though I doubt it.
Compelling story, loved the characters, didn't want it to end.
