I was drawn in by this stunning book cover and the premise. I’m a sucker for a hockey romance. Overall I had a hard time believing th connection between Lexi and Mitch.

What is it with the author and almost rape in her books? Even more it being in the prologue, girl is like “no, I don’t want to report him” and it was the Hockey player’s teammate. I’m done with even giving this author a chance.
I'll admit, I wouldn't have finished this book if not for needing to leave an honest review. The beginning sex scenes were jarring and a big turn off. The first third of the book is basically all about sex and the plot took a back seat. The main female character is completely unlikeable. It's dual POV and dual timeline (for the first two-thirds of the book) and that get's pretty hard to keep up with. I thought it was going to get better toward the end, but the miscommunication trope took front seat. This had all the worst parts of the miscommunication trope. By the end (and really throughout the whole book) I did not want Lexie and Mitch to be together.
Halfway through and we only had one Interaction between the two mains.. there were also some inconsistencies between the break up stories that were communicated to friends vs. what actually happened.
I love a good hockey romance and I actually really liked that this one was but wasn’t hockey romance. I actually really liked Mitch’s character and his entire situation surrounding hockey broke my heart. But I liked how it created a different kind of hockey romance.
I liked this book, but not quite as much as I liked the book that comes after it (oops for reading things out of order) that is about Brent’s little sister. I just didn’t feel like I personally related to Lexi in this one and wasn’t as invested in her and Mitch as a couple.
I will say, I probably would have enjoyed this one more if I’d read it, instead of listening to it on audio. The narrators were not my favorite and the accents they employed were just kind of distracting and irritating. It’s an easy read, it’s a good story, it just wasn’t a favorite for me, especially on audio. But I like this series I’m general and really enjoy Amanda’s writing style overall!
Did not finish this book in advance of the publication day. I do intend to finish reading at some point down the line.
Amanda is a repeat author for me! I loved the continuation and development of these characters that we were introduced to in For The Boys! This book is the perfect second chance Romance! The growth and development of the characters was absolutely incredible!! If you are looking for a hockey sports Romance, this is book and the other books in this series will be perfect!
This was such a good second chance romance book! I was hooked right from the start and did not want to put it down. And oh boy, it was so steamy! I felt all the emotions while reading this book. I loved the characters and the storyline. I recommend checking it out!
This is a good book. The two main characters are Lexie and Mitch. Lexie is a headhunter. Mitch is a professional hockey player. Two years ago they were a couple, then they split. Two years Mitch comes back to town, everyone but Lexie is glad he is back. Something is bringing them back together. They each have issues but together they work them out and fall in love.
Second chance romance, sexy, full of angst, headhunter and professional hockey player.
I received and ARC of this one, and I told myself I was going to wait until closer to pub day to read it, but I could not help myself. Oh my gosh I loved this book so so much. The emotional aspect of this book was top notch, everything was literally jumping off the page. It’s way more steamier than FTB. I could feel all the emotions. I love Mirch and Lexie probably an unhealthy amount, and could relate to the struggles Lexie faces. Mitch likes to portray the image of a fun ladies man, but he is actually the sweetest and fiercely loyal and will do anything for his girl. Lexie grew up without feeling loved, so in turn doesn’t believe in it. Until Mitch. But then everything is ruined. BUT they are given a second chance, but can they finally talk to each other, without yelling) and work things out, and take another shot at their endgame love story? This is the author’s strongest book yet, and I’m DYING for book 3 already!
This book was so good thanks so much for the copy I really enjoyed this so much along with the writing definitely will recommend
I won't be reading it yet. I will read it later.
No lo estaré leyendo todavía. Lo leeré mas adelante.
This book connected to me in such a heartbreaking way. I share a similar story to Lexie and Mitch but never got my HEA. Life didn’t play out in our favor but it granted me someone else extraordinary and who I was able to give my whole heart to without feeling I needed to protect it like they did throughout the book. I have tried writing this review and always get emotional because this book means the world to me, if you can’t tell by the loads of tabs. I’ve reread bits and pieces because I feel super connected to the story, probably enough to have read this book a total of 8 times all the way through!
Lexie and Mitch’s story is beautiful. It’s so raw and real. It’s got everything a perfect second chance romance needs. They want each other but stay away, they love each other but they want to protect themselves. I loved how the timeline was set up in this book so you found out the big reasoning later and not right away. This story is beautifully written, the emotion and lust makes you feel right there with them. This story has so many amazing moments, heartbreaking moments, but overall it just shows and perfectly conveys that if you love someone then show them they’re worth fighting for. My favorite second chance romance and one of my favorite HEAs!
l loved Brent and Berkley’s story (For The Boys) so so much, but this one takes top spot for me because how connected I feel. Amanda is an amazing writer, be sure to check out these two books, so you can read ERWB coming out in April!
I did end up enjoying this book overall, which is saying something because sports romances are very much not my thing. I thought that the premise was interesting and I am a sucker for a second chance romance. By the end of the book I was definitely more open minded to hockey boys, so points for that.
The only thing I had an issue with was Lexie. I found her to be totally unlikeable. Luckily, Mitch was a very likeable character, so his chapters really carried the enjoyment of the story for me. Miscommunication trope is hard to do, but I thought that this was a pretty good execution of it! Well done!
3.5/5 stars for this book!!
This book took me by surprise. I loved the professional hockey player atmosphere and the team/friend group was so fun to see.
I unfortunately thought Mitch and Lexie were a bit immature. They could have resolved so many of their problems if they would have just talked and tried to understand each other instead of running from their problems. I also didn't like that Lexie hooked up with someone else the day Mitch left.
The character growth throughout this book was great and the author did an awesome job going from different phases in their relationship and it made sense. I really liked the settings and the way the communication improved.
If you like steamy, second chance romances with great backstory, this book is for you!!
i LOVE Amanda’s books! On The Line is such a good and wholesome story. If you’re a sports person or love a good sports romance (this one is hockey), then this series is for you!
This book will live rent free in my head, I enjoyed every second of it!
Oh i adored Mitch & Lex AND this book DEFINITELY made me a Hockey Romance girly! Be sure to check trigger warnings before diving into this story.
The author did an amazing job and making this romance very emotional and relatable. Mitch going through a huge life change after a career ending injury and Lexie struggling with some serious commitment and trust issues with letting Mitch in.
I was cheering this couple on the entire book, and was thrilled when they finally gave in and gave things another shot! AND THE SPICE 🔥🔥🔥 TOP TIER.
I read this as a stand alone, but It is book 2 in the series! I will definitely be going back to read book 1 and I cannot wait to dive into book 3!
I struggled to get through this book. It felt a bit forced and repetitive to me. It took a while for the story to come to light and then when it did I felt like there were too many things that happened to the MCs that they just wouldn’t have been able to work through to get where they ended up.
Just your average sports romance book. It was enjoyable but nothing special. There were moments when I didn’t enjoy the writing style and the characters but I was able to finish the book so that honestly says something (good). When it comes to sports romances, most of the time a lot of things annoy me because of the HUGE miscommunication. This book didn’t have enough things to make me dnf but it has enough annoying things for me to rate it 3 stars. Still overall a fun and enjoyable read!
this book was conflicting and confusing to me, I feel like it mostly contained sex and thats not usually the type of thing I likd in my romance books. I like the connection to come first and foremost. I liked the concept but not the execution as much. I also enjoyed the side characters but I wish I liked this more overall.
