Thanks NetGalley for the ARC of I'm Following You by Emily Shiner

I like to concept and basis for this book but I found it a little immature, the characters lacked something, I kept thinking to myself "really?" Who would act or think like this? I just found their actions a little unreal or unimaginable. That said, I was surprised by the twist at the end.
The story is written from two perspectives, Collette who has recently lost her sister Arabella, she was kiled by a drunk driver and Amanda who is one of the top oncologists at the local hospital
Collette has joined a grief counseling group where she meets Jackson. Jackson's wife passed away. They form a frienship and Jackson does what he can to support Collette when she starts thinking that her sister's killer is alive even though it was publicized that she had committed suicide. Collette targets Amanda and goes back and forth between the two characters telling the story.
I would read more of this authors works, maybe this was a one off that just didn't do it for me. Again story line was good, characters and narrative needed a little more depth.

Wow!! I did NOT see that coming. Great twisty thriller that flowed so well and keep me turning the pages.
Amanda is dealing with the grief of losing her sister and hell bent on getting revenge on the person she believes is responsible. How do we deal with this type of grief? A look at what happens when it’s taken a bit too far.

I'm Following You is a quick and easy thriller to sink your teeth into. We follow Amanda who has a seemingly perfect life. She's a doctor with a lovely home but becomes terrified after a woman in a red car starts following her. This leads to stalking, a break in in her home and work office and Amanda understandably is in fear for her safety and life. But who would do this to her and why? She can't think of why anyone would target her.
As always with Emily Shiners books it pulls you in from the first few pages and you struggle to put it down. The conclusion was quite a shocker in this book and I really enjoyed the cat-and-mouse trope in this book. Another clever read!

A psychological thriller which centres on two bereaved people who meet at a group therapy session. Collette believes thatthough it was fairly the woman who killed her sister is not dead, but acting as a doctor at a local clinic. She follows her, making her life unbearable and encouraged by her fellow group member. There are a couple of twists in the plot, which does build up suspense .
Mostly well written, I enjoyed the book though it was fairly predictable. It is short and read quickly

When I started this book, I was about five chapters in when I re-read the premise and thought "am I reading the right book?" Because the description was a whole lot different to the beginning of this story that I was confused. There was no Collette in the premise and no Amanda in the beginning. But I saw from other reviews that this was indeed the correct book and Amanda soon turns up...and she did.

Collette is distraught when two police officers knock on her door to tell her that her sister Arabella has been involved in an accident and was killed on impact. And at first, Collette blames herself because Arabella wanted to stay the night but Collette had plans. And now her sister is dead.

Six months on, Collette is attending a grief support group from which she gains nothing. Except a new friendship with Jackson whose wife died three years before. The pair strike up a friendship and it is then that Collette confides in him. The woman who killed her sister is walking around scot-free having gotten away with murder.

The only trouble is...Courtney Barrow, the woman who ran down Arabella whilst drunk, was found unresponsive in her home facing the upcoming trial for her sister's death. The police and her therapist have all told Collette that Courtney is dead. But Collette doesn't believe it.

Everyone else might think she is crazy but Jackson doesn't. He listens to her and then makes a suggestion - that they visit the bars down the main street and see if they can spot her. And they do just that. But is he just humouring her? Or does he believe that he is helping her?

And then, she sees her. Though she has probably changed her name, she knows it is her.

The woman Collette sees in the restaurant is Dr Amanda Morgan, a well-known and highly regarded oncologist. She has a perfect life, a wonderful job and a home in a safe and secure neighbourhood. But her life hasn't always been so good. She was married but divorced after the death of her baby girl some years ago, and the grief still haunts her.

As she leaves the restaurant that day, she spots a little red car in her rearview mirror. Is it following her? But this is just the beginning of the problems to come. Amanda is frightened by the unknown person stalking her she locks herself in her house, completely paranoid at what her life has become.

Because Collette is hell-bent on getting revenge for the death of her sister and fueled by madness, anger and obsession, she will stop at nothing until she gets her revenge. But Jackson is worried. Is Collette taking things too far?

I'M FOLLOWING YOU is so not what you expect. It is deep-seated in craziness, revenge, obsession and murder. The characters are complex and not entirely likeable but the plot is filled with twists to keep you turning the pages. The coup-de-grace comes in the final chapter which was a skillful stroke of mastery. I did not see that jaw-dropping end coming but it made so much sense by its end.

Overall, a crazy train of delusional madness lies at the helm of this twisted thriller about grief, obsession, guilt and revenge. Not as good as "The Stolen Child" but still an entertaining ride.

This book revolves around Collette and Amanda. Collette lost her sister after a drunk driver hit her. Collette has been told the drunk driver is also dead, but she does not believe it. She is hellbent on finding the driver and seeking revenge. Amanda is a well-respected oncologist, who suddenly notices a car following her. Collette becomes obsessed with Amanda, as she believes this woman killed her sister.

This book was definitely very interesting and had many twists and turns. I found the ultimate twist a little anticlimactic. It was also fairly predicable ending. For these reasons, I give the book 3/5 stars. I think a lot more could have been done with the plot and characters.

Thank you NetGalley and Inkubator Books for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I'm Following You by Emily Shiner is a highly recommended psychological thriller.

Collette has lost her beloved sister Arabella after she was hit by a drunk driver. At a grief support group Collette admits to Jackson, a fellow member, that she is obsessed with the driver who killed her sister. It was reported that the driver, Courtney Barrow, committed suicide, but Collette is sure that Courtney is still alive. Jackson goes with her to walk downtown, looking for Courtney, when they see a woman Collette believes is Courtney. Now she believes Courtney is alive and she has changed her name to Amanda Morgan, Dr. Morgan, so she is still alive and pretending to be a doctor. Collette is obsessed and determined to expose Amanda as a fraud as she stalks her. At the same time Amanda notices a red car that seems to be following her.

This is a fast-paced psychological thriller which requires some suspension of disbelief over several of the details in order to relish the increasingly threatening and unhinged tale of obsession. It's worth overlooking some little niggling details as you follow a woman, Collette, becoming increasingly disturbing, a friend, Jackson, supporting this unhealthy behavior, and a targeted woman, Amanda, wondering why this is happening to her. Chapters alternate between the point-of-view of Collette and Amanda and the obsession unfolds and is reacted to through their perspectives.

Collette and Amanda are both portrayed realistically and are believable characters. Even as she become increasingly irrational, you will understand that Collette is grieving the loss of her sister. Amanda has also experienced a loss, so both characters are grieving. Neither character is entirely sympathetic, but that doesn't matter in the game of cat and mouse they are involved in. Jackson also seems a very unhelpful friend for Collette right from the start, but he is the friend that she wants.

The ending is a totally surprising and shocking twist which made the entire novel worth it.

This book will keep you on the edge of your seat. Colette wants to avenge her sisters death by making sure the person who killed her was brought to justice. She finds Amanda and is determined to make her pay.

The book is a quick read (I read it in one day) partly because I didn’t want to out the book down. The story is written so well that I could picture the scenes as they played out on the pages. The characters are very interesting to read. You quickly know something is not right but don’t know what it is. You need to read until the very last page to get the full twisty story!

Emily Shiner's latest psychological thriller, I'M FOLLOWING YOU, is a deliciously wicked game of cat-and-mouse. But who is the cat, and who is the mouse? Trust no one—unreliable narrators.

"Shiner will leave you guessing until the very last chapter as two strangers' stories unfold in this riveting tale of deception, obsession, and REVENGE!"

Meet Collette. She wants nothing more than to spend time with her baby sister, Arabella, but she pushes her out the door to get ready for her guy. Arabella has an eight-year-old cat Henry and is not too worried about dating. Collette is sleeping with Mike, a guy down the hall.

Soon after Arabella leaves her sister's apartment, cops are at her door. Her sister has been in an accident—a drunk driver. Now she is dead. It is all her fault when she could have stayed there.

As the book starts, Collette suffers from grief and is in a grief support group.

She is obsessed with the woman walking around free that put her Arabella in the ground. Of course, she forgets she pushed her out the door. Her therapist thinks she would benefit from group therapy.

Then the news says Courtney Barrow, age 41, was found unresponsive when facing the upcoming trial where she would face charges for her sister's death—killing her instantly. Due to being unable to live with the grief over the tragedy, she is now dead by suicide.

However, for some odd reason, Collette does not believe Courtney is dead. What if Courtney is alive?

She meets some people in therapy, but Jackson seems to be a good friend since his wife died of cancer. It has been three years for him. For Collette, it has been a little over five months.

Her therapist and the cops tell her Courtney is dead, but she opens up with Jackson to tell him she thinks she is still alive. She will find her. She does not care if people think she is crazy. She needs proof.

Jackson agrees to walk around and get some fresh air after coffee. When they do, Collette sees a woman in a restaurant and swears that it is Courtney. She must find out who she is. She probably changed her name. She knows it is her.

Mind-boggling! From here, things get wildly CRAZY!

From alternating POVs from Collette and Dr. Amanda Morgan — (woman she thinks is Courtney).

The woman is named Amanda. She is a well-known oncologist, Dr. Morgan. She has a perfect life, a great job, and a beautiful home in a safe neighborhood. She is divorced after the death of their baby girl years ago, who died in her sleep. The grief still gets to Amanda, and she still visits her grave.

Collette sees this woman in the restaurant and gets fixated on her being Courtney, but she is Amanda. Let the games begin! Is it Courtney?

This part is madness but funny in a dark way.

Collette drives around in her old red Honda (all over town the entire book) and follows the doctor everywhere. She even sets up a fake appointment with the doctor pretending to have cancer, and then throws her under the bus with a bad review that causes all sorts of problems for the doctor.

She even comes by her house at night, breaks into her office, paints horrible things on her car, and each time the tactics and stalking get more dangerous, Collette is fueled by madness, rage, and obsession.

Get this— she works at a library. Books by day and stalking by night.

She wants to ruin Dr. Morgan! She could even kill her. She follows her to the graveyard, steals things off the grave, and writes letters to the newspaper editor about her. This causes all sorts of problems for Amanda at the hospital, her job, and her reputation.

Amanda (Dr. Morgan) is scared and has no idea who is out to get her and why. She locks herself in her home, paranoid. But when she has had enough, she starts following the red car. She realizes the patient, Ms. Smith, gave a bogus address, but why?

Jackson thinks Collette is carrying it too far and is worried about her safety. However, nothing will stop Collette's plan of revenge. She will stop at nothing until she takes her down.

However, things take a final deadly twist at the graveyard for a showdown when they meet that will BLOW YOUR MIND!

A wickedly smart page-turner about the razor-thin line between suspicion and obsession will keep you glued to its pages-and, guessing wrong about who to trust-until its breathtaking ending!

With complex characters, heart-pounding suspense, and a jaw-dropping stunning conclusion twist, you will NOT see coming.

That last surprise POV from Jackson MADE the book for me and will grab you by the throat. I even moved my star rating to a "5" after the author pulled out this clever shocker! Unexpected. I loved it.

So readers, when you are about to give up with Collette's delusional madness driving around in her red car wreaking havoc the entire book on Amanda (Dr. Morgan), be patient and do NOT give up.

I'M FOLLOWING YOU is smart, edgy, and full of dark humor — about crime and punishment, taking matters into your own hands no matter the collateral damage. Harrowing and intense―and a little madness. Murder, lies, grief, obsession, guilt, friendship, REVENGE, and distorted/delusional love make a gripping story.

I have read a few of Shiner's books, but this is my favorite thus far. If you like twisty endings, this one is for you!

Collette lost her sister after a drunk driver hit her. Per her therapist's advice she joins a grief group. In it she meets an ally who agrees to go on a mission to find the drunk driver. Except Collette carries around an article that declares said driver deceased. But her thoughts and nightmares are telling her the driver isn't really dead . . .

Dr. Amanda is out on a terrible date. Once she's able to flee, she notices a red car that seems to be following her. Dealing that bubbling terror is far from her only issue. She also has an ex patient who seems to be out to get her in anyway they can.

This was so juicy--filled with mystery, suspense, and intrigue. I was dying to find out hope things would unfold for both women. I had my suspicions--they were exactly right but I still did not see the explosive ending coming. WHOA! This is a must read!

If you’re looking for a twist, this book definitely has it! I was immediately hooked right from the start and throughout the book I could feel Amanda’s fear as well as Collette’s hunger for revenge chapter after chapter. This psychological thriller follows Amanda and Collette through their day to day lives until their world’s collide. At times I thought I figured it all out, well I was in for a shock. If you love psychological thrillers, then get your hands on “I’m Following You” by Emily Shiner, because you won’t be disappointed!

This was a wild read! The pace is fantastic, it was a back and forth between Amanda and Collette, the two main characters which narrated the story from their own perspective. It was a short thrilling read with a somewhat unique plot and I really enjoyed it. This was my first from this author but definitely won’t be my last, 4⭐️

Amanda loves her life. She's a highly respected Doctor, and she lives in a beautiful home in the best neighbourhood in town. But her perfect life begins to crumble when she notices a woman in a red car following her. Then this mysterious person begins an increasingly disturbing campaign - stalking Amanda, even invading her home and office. Amanda is terrified and feels as if she's under siege. As far as she knows she has no enemies. So, who is this strange woman? And what does she want?

This is one twisted psychological thriller. It's also a quick and easy book to read. Just when you think you have it all worked out, a twist comes along and sends you down a different route. There's lots of secrets and surprises. I didn't see the twist at the end coming. This is a well written and gripping read. The characters were well developed, and the story is told from Amanda and Collette's perspectives. We learn how past traumas can affect your life.

I don't know how to rate the book because the synopsis is kinda misleading. I expected to find a woman named Amanda terrified because someone's been following her. It did happened in the book, but not the way I thought it would.

The plot itself is pretty open and shut case and there's little twist or something that could make me use my brain.

Kudos for a clear writing tho. I spent only half day reading it.

Such a great cat and mouse book! There were a few times I thought I had it figured out but was nowhere close! It is never good when revenge rears its ugly head, and this book proves just that! Collette is so determined to get justice that she is completely blind to the traps she is walking right into! This book keeps your guessing until the very end!
