A big city dwelling, famous for a living, social media influencer being unfairly canceled hides out in a Montana national park in this excellent novel by Melissa Ferguson. Cat Cranwell was taken advantage of by her business partner, and stands to lose everything she's been building since she was a teen. Her uncle is a park ranger and his invitation to come work with his team (and save their park from assimilation into the bigger one next door) gives Cat a total change in perspective along with the change in location. I loved the book. The setting is described beautifully. The side characters are quirky and amusing, The sweet romance that develops between Cat and Zaiah, another park ranger, is believable and endearing. This is another great one from Melissa Ferguson that I'll be recommending to my audience!

Let me start by saying that I love this cover! There's something about a small-town boy and big city girl that pulls me in every time. Cat Cranwell has a huge social media following and loved by all, but when she is accused of fraud and her followers turn against her, she runs from the spotlight right into a national park in Montana where her Uncle Terry manages. There she meets beloved Zaiah Hudson who believes social media is the worst thing that ever happened to humanity. The two are complete opposites, but maybe they are more alike than they think.

I really had high expectations for this book. In theory, everything about it is exactly what I love about a romance like this one, however I did not feel any chemistry between Cat and Zaiah. There was no tension or buildup that made me want them together or made me root for them, they just felt like coworkers to me, friend vibes at most. I did love all of the side characters. They really made the national park seem like a family and I am obsessed with all of the fun activities and traditions they participated in. With that being said, I wish there would have been more descriptions and history about the national park so that it would have brought the scene to life. Lastly, the whole "social media is terrible" and "you shouldn't let social media consume you" was a bit overplayed. I appreciate the discussion around social media and how it can have a negative impact if you let it, but I do think it can have a positive impact when using it in the right way. I loved seeing Zaiah open up about his past and the reason he dislikes phones so much and I loved seeing Cat slowly discover who she is when she doesn't have the world staring down at her all the time. This is a very important topic that needs to be talked about and I feel like the author did a good job discussing it in a realistic and sympathetic way. Overall, I enjoyed it, but I would not consider it a romance. It is a story of self-discovery and living in the moment.

The cover and the author made my decision for me because I love Ferguson's rom-com. I wasn't disappointed at all! I always look forward to her books!
Cat was a girl who knew how to.make everything work no matter what life threw at her and for that I really admired her. She was my favorite character for that reason.
I really enjoyed this book and my favorite thing was the fun scenes from the characters! They made me laugh and they actually made my day!
I didn't put this book down until I was finished because I wanted to see where Cat's journey took her.
I highly recommend it! 5 stars!
My thanks for a copy of this book. I was NOT required to write a positive review.

The best thing about the book is it's cover. The story was cute enough but I feel like it was poorly written. I had a hard time focusing and had to re-read things numerous times. I couldn't tell if I was the problem or the book was the problem but I think it was the writing. It didn't flow well and didn't always make sense.

I really enjoy reading books written by Melissa Ferguson. Her stories are all full of fun dialogue, crazy events, and wonderful romance.
In this story, we meet Cat (a city girl) who has her world turned upside-down and needs a restart, which might mean disconnecting from her phone. We also meet Zaiah (a nature guy) who loves the big outdoors. He has a real hatred for anything fake.
Can these two actually become friends and learn to support each other, or will they let their pasts keep them apart?
I had mixed feelings about this story because, on one end, I LOVED all the humor, fun, and crazy parts, but then on the other end, I was convicted about the uses of my OWN phone and how often I gravitate to social media. Wow! That was an eye-opener!
Melissa Ferguson has a wonderful way of writing that makes her characters so entertaining! She also did a fantastic job of dealing with some tough issues facing these characters, and things we all might face.
I LOVED the fun dialogue, the quirky characters, and the sweet touch of romance that makes up this book. The whole story moved so smoothly with moments of delight, but also with moments of pain as we feel all that the main characters feel. When we can put ourselves in the characters’ lives and understand the pains and joys, that is what makes a book great! This author has done that!
After reading a few of this author’s books, I know that whenever I hear Melissa Ferguson has a new book written, I’m going to jump right in and get it!
I highly recommend you pick this book up for a fun read!
I was given this book by the publisher and NetGalley which did not influence my review in any way, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

This book explored overcoming social dependence and learning to love and be yourself and was hysterical. I loved how it was a little bit of a love story but really it was Cam learning she is more than her social media following and her likes. I think it is so interesting how Melissa writes about the social aspect, feeling the high from the likes which I think we can all fall victim to.

This book was laugh-out-loud funny, as Cam moves from city life to Montana to avoid public scrutiny after she had a deal go sideways. Now she traded in pumps for sneakers and explores the national park with her father figure Uncle Terry and her love interest - park ranger Zaiah. The plot also explores them trying to save their park from being absorbed into a bigger park and there is rivalry and so much banter from this.

Overall it was such a sweet book and I am excited for it's release!

Ohhhhh, this book! I absolutely flew through it because it was just that adorable.

When a deal goes wrong from content creator/influencer Cat, her best friend Serena suggests taking some time away from things at the national park where her uncle works. Cat is definitely not used to the freezing cold and rugged conditions...or the negativity being thrown her way from ranger Zaiah. However, even Zaiah realizes just how special Cat is, so will he be able to understand that opposites really do attract?

Cat was an easy main character to love. While she is superficial at times, you learn why she acts the way she acts and also learn that she is truly a good character. Zaiah's actions made him perfectly believable, and the chemistry between the two was definitely there. Also...the other characters were positively delightful. We all want and need a bestie like Serena!

I highly recommend this book if you want a fun romance that is plot-driven and is exactly the right number of pages!

This book was both a breath of fresh air, and also shared a much needed message with readers. Cat Cranwell, is a well loved social media influencer who appears to have it all. Money, friends, everything...until something she never dreamed possible happened and she became a public enemy. This book did a great job of telling a story, while also weaving in the truths and dangers of social media. It showed us the negative side effects of what can come from a technology addiction - something that is all too common in today's society.

There were so many quotable moments in this book, but I think this one sums it up perfectly: “Are we meant to know every thought and deed, traumatic event, and triumph of every person in this world?” This book was very thought provoking.

Most of the story follows Cat Cranwell after her fall, when she goes out to Montana to help out her uncle, who is a park ranger at Kannery National Park. Melissa Ferguson does a great job at writing stories with strong yet eclectic characters and this book was no exception. I really enjoyed seeing the relationship blossom between Cat and Zaiah.

Overall, this book had a Hallmark feel to it (which I loved) but it was also so much more than that. I would truly love to watch this as a movie. It think the major messages that this book delivers need to be shared in all formats to reach the maximum amount of people possible!

Cute book that had some amazing characters in it. You really like the main characters in this one and hope they work themselves out to be together. It was easy to read and I really enjoyed the light and good fun story.

First of all I love the cover, it just screams cute romance.
The concept was fun: a disgraced influencer falling for a Park Ranger who owns flip phone and stays far away from social media.
Cat's character development was really well executed. She wasn't a bad person in the beginning but she definitely needed this change.
Overall this is a fun, cute romance book!

I've posted my review on Goodreads too.

Thank you Netgalley for the early copy.
I skimmed through most of the book. I just couldn’t connect nor fully invest in the story.
I am not a fan of influencers so this book was just not something that interests me. The romance was lacking and it felt flat and boring. This book just didn’t do it for me.

I absolutely loved this book! Serena is the best friend every girl should have. Zaiah is just perfect and what I loved about him was that he wasn’t the average grump that we read about over and over again. I’m a sucker for small town settings but this was my first time in a national park and I loved every minute of it. All of the side characters were so enjoyable and really added to the charm of the setting this book takes place.
This is the bit where there is a spoiler so if you don’t want spoilers stop reading.
If I could change anything it would be just a bit more context to when they decided to part ways. It was a little abrupt and then we got very little communication and bamn they take a trip. With that said I would still absolutely recommend this book!

This book was wonderful. It definitely leans more towards the women's fiction genre, as the romance is light and not the main focus.

Cat Cranwall is a famous influencer who finds herself needing to get away from the city, and takes a temporary job with her uncle in Montana. She ends up as the social media coordinator for a small, backwoods national park that desperately needs a boost in numbers. With a handsome, bearded park ranger and a loveable cast of side-characters, Cat is forced to reconsider what her priorities are and how to do what she loves without letting it consume her.

This book reminds me why fiction is important. A good story has the ability to present hard truths in a way that breaks down our defences and allows us to see our own struggles in a new light. Melissa Ferguson tackles the tough subject of social media, and presents it's joys and pitfalls in a very real and authentic way.

If you're looking for a clean read with humor and depth, you won't want to miss this one. (Also, the cover is amazing) 😍

4.5

In this cozy, low-stakes, and fun romance influence Cat has to flee the city after her online following has turned on her and her bank accounts have been frozen. Where better to go than to work under her Uncle as a Social Media Manager for a National Park.

Among the people who work at the Park Cat finds a delightful group of new and genuine friends. Between a number of fun group activities, she also tries to save the Park from being absorbed by a bigger National Park, which would result in all her co-workers jobs being lost and her beloved Uncle loosing the Park he holds so dear.

The romance between Cat and Zaiah, one of the park rangers, is slow but genuinely the right speed for this story. He makes no secret out of the fact that he hates social media and with his grumpy attitude they need some time to properly warm up to each other - but it’s worth it! I really enjoyed that these two felt like thirty year-olds, who were able to have mature conversations and gave each other grace in situations that easily could’ve been turned into dramatic misunderstandings.

this cover is AMAZING! after seeing it, I immediately had to read it! the main character, Cat, is a popular influencer on social media who ends up working in a national park with her uncle after her online reputation is ruined. Zaiah is a quintessential grumpy, swoon worthy, ruggedly handsome book boyfriend. the way these opposites attract is fun and works perfectly in line with the storyline. I laughed a lot, I cried a little, and my heart is happy after reading this! there was less romances than I had anticipated/wanted which is why I only gave 4 stars.

Set, for the most part, in cold cold Montana this heartwarming rom-com has you feeling all cozy and warm.

This story has everything from big city to small town vibes, beautiful clothing, glamour and not so glamourous environments and activities. It has the always lovely grumpy/sunshine trope but with the sunshine having had some clouds in her past.

Cat feels real and a person you would want to befriend with her glamour and her street-smart.

The epilogue had a twist I was not expecting (although I should have) that I loved!

All in all, I found this story refreshing (literally lol) and oh so lovely! I really liked how it tackles the down side of being an influencer and, in general, the addiction most people have to cellphones.
I also liked how it illustrates the importance of always having a lawyer review the documents before signing them.

Pub date for this lovely book is 16 May 2023 and I truly recommend it!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I loved this book! Another amazing read by Melissa Ferguson! Her books are always relevant yet fun and Famous for a Living didn’t disappoint!

Cat would be easy to dislike as she seems to lead a very privileged and unrealistic life but she’s as genuine as they come. She takes her role as an influencer seriously and is responsible in her work.

Zaiah is her polar opposite, even in geography, but they find a middle ground that betters them both. They compromise while also challenging each other to step out of their comfort zones.

I don’t want to give too much away but I highly recommend this book. Good from start to finish!

I’m not the person he expected to fall for. He’s the last person on earth I’d expect to fall for.
There’s no promise of tomorrow, or an answer to how we could possibly make this work.
And yet.
There’s now.

-Social media influencer Cat becomes the sensation she does not want — cancelled 🤳🏼📸🏞️
- retreats to the small town and wilderness to where her uncle lives
-grumpy ranger Zaiah might be just the social media break she needs
-I did not like Cat at first but she grew on me in the end! I enjoyed the other characters as well
-thank you NetGalley and Thomas Nelson for this read. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own ✨
