My review for this one is pretty much the same as the one for the audiobook. It was a really cute read but I will say the audiobook really elevated the read.
3.5 rounded up!
I was so pleasantly surprised by this book! I don't know if it was my mood, the time of the year, or the fact that I was ferociously cleaning my house while listening to this book that made me devour it in a day! Think cute, hallmark, chocolate shop movie and this is exactly thay and more!
When the word is a magic chocolate can help you find true love on valentines day, handsome TV reporter Dean is sent to get the scoop. Lucy didn't mean for her
"magic" chocolates to go viral, but now that it has, everyone wants to know more. Through interviews, forced proximity, and a little chocolate, Dean and Lucy can't help but fall for each other!
This book definitely takes its time when it comes to building up the romance – like, seriously, it's more of a "come on, let's get to the good stuff already" kind of slow burn. Unfortunately, most of the story is just filled with banter that lacks any real chemistry between the characters. It's not until the very end that you finally start to feel that spark of romance and connection, but by then, I was already starting to lose interest.
Another thing that struck me was the abundance of characters who seemed to be there solely for the sake of diversity. It felt like the author was ticking off boxes rather than creating fully fleshed-out, authentic characters. Instead of enriching the story, it came across as more of an attempt to appear socially conscious without actually delving into the complexities of diversity and representation.
Overall, I found the story to be rather bland and unengaging. It lacked the depth and excitement needed to keep me invested, leaving me feeling disappointed and ultimately disinterested in the characters and their journey.
I received an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review
I don't like Hallmark movies, but this was a good book! Easy and quick to read. Draws you in and doesn't want to let you go. Cute for sure.
Sweet and cheesy, just how I like my hallmarks.
I loved this cute story so much!
The charm was my favorite part.
Cute book with a good storyline. I liked the main characters and how well they played together over the course of the story.
“Sweeter Than Chocolate” by Lizzie Shane couldn't have come at a better time – it's the perfect February read, especially for Valentine’s Day! The story revolves around Lucy Sweet, who's managing her family's chocolate business, and Dean, the journalist tasked with covering the famous Cupid Chocolates.
Their dynamic was something else! It felt like Lucy may have fallen first, but Dean fell even harder. By the end, I was absolutely rooting for them. Their journey was adorable, and the writing truly hit the spot. I'm definitely looking forward to watching the Hallmark movie adaptation and diving into more of this author's work.
Thank you, Netgalley and the publisher, for giving me an ARC.

This was the perfect book to read in February for Valentine’s day!! It follows Lucy Sweet, who is running her family’s chocolate business, and Dean the news reporter whose job it is to do a story of the famous cupid chocolates.
Perhaps a case of she fell first but he fell harder? I just loved these two by the end. Their story was cute and I thought the writing was great. Definitely will be checking out the Hallmark movie and reading more by this author.
Of course, I am going to give this book 5 stars as it is literally a Hallmark book, and I am obsessed with Hallmark! I hope they adapt this book into one of their movies! It was so sweet and romantic! I loved it! Thank you to NetGalley and Hallmark for granting me this book in exchange for my honest review!!

Cute, unique and fun read! I'm a sucker for the grumpy/sunshine trope, and it was made even better with the addition of slight enemies to lovers.
This book was super fun to read! Love Shane's books and this one was no exception! The concept of magic chocolates that make people find their true love was so fun to explore. I also thought both the hero and heroine were incredibly relatable.
Sugary sweet, cute, wholesome CLOSED DOOR romance. Sometimes that's all you need! It was adorable and enjoyable.
I actually read this book when it first relseased, but for some reason forgot to review it! So, after reading it again, I feel the same way I did the first time around; I didn't hate it, but I also didn't love it. I suppose it is a charming slow-burn romance that might be great for those who love a cheesefest. Of course, knowing it is a Hallmark Movie after some research, I understand that it's possible that this book just isn't my cup of tea and others may love it!
Thank you to Netgalley & Publishers for access to an arc copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was a really fun read. It was truly sweeter than chocolate. It had the feel of a grumpy/sunshine trope with the addition of an slight enemies to lovers. I enjoyed the characters and while it was slightly slow, it was good. I’d recommend this to anyone who needs or wants a pick-me-up cutesie story.
It’s exactly what you would expect from a hallmark book! Feel good romance! I enjoy reading hallmark especially because going into the book I know I’m going to be feeling happy. This book was very sweet like chocolate!
Lucy is a proprietor and chocolatier of a small candy shop. She worried about the competitor that is opening at shop near her. As valentine is around the corner, the cupid chocolate her best friend claimed that the cupid chocolate that she ate on Valentine’s day has helped her to find her true love in the socmed. Dean is a TV reporter who does not believe in love. He was assigned to cover Lucy’s cupid chocolate story. His first meeting with Lucy went badly when he commented that the story of cupid chocolate is a scam to Lucy without knowing that she is the owner. This has created an unnecessary tension between them.
This book is an enemy to lover story happened in a small town. I love the flow of the story plot especially at the point where Dean’s opinion of love start to change in the end. Both Lucy and Dean’s chemistry is palpable in the story. Overall it was an enjoyable read to me
This was such a cute book. It did read exactly like how a Hallmark movie views? Watches? I'm not sure what word to use, but yes it's got all the Hallmark vibes one looks for in their movies. I could picture every scene as if it's a movie as I read it. Now, I'm going to go look it up to see if they did actually make a movie out of it because I would definitely watch it!
Alexa play ain't no sunshine on a loop please.
That has been my mood since starting this book. Because my will to read anything has gone away because of it.
Seriously what was i thinking. The book is i guess fine bug daaaamn was it wring for me. And this is coming from a romance reader fanatic obsessed with chocolate.
2 stars
I wanted to read this book before watching the movie. And I ended up loving both! It's not a difficult formula so I knew that I was gonna love it before even starting this book. It's quick and fun, and yes a bit predictable but still so cute! If you're a fan of Hallmark romance movies, then I highly recommend reading Sweeter Than Chocolate!
