“Do the “Cupid chocolates” from Lucy’s shop really help people meet their One True Love? Dean, a TV reporter, has his doubts…”

This has all the best parts of your Basic Hallmark Romance, with none of the annoying bits.

There IS a cynical, career-driven character.
There is a small-town-mom-n-pop shop needing a Christmas Miracle.
There is a dash of magic.
There is a happy ending.

The great thing? The cynical character ISN’T the woman.

Hallmark can tend to set back feminism by decades in its incessant need to make the FMC choose a man over her career.

But, this is 2023 and HALLMARK IS GROWING Y’ALL!

I enjoyed the meet(stuff-foot-down-throat)cute.
I enjoyed the slow-burn Enemies to Likers (zero spice in this book).
I enjoyed all the secondary Success Story Cupid Couples.
I definitely enjoyed hearing about all the delicious chocolate.

I found The Curse storyline a little weak, but all in all, this story was the best I’ve seen come from Hallmark.

2023 is going to be a great year.

7/10

Lucy Sweet owns a chocolate shop, How Sweet It Is, that has been in her family for generations. Legend has it that if you eat one of the special Cupid chocolates on Valentine's Day, then you’ll meet your soulmate.

Dean is a tv reporter who has his sights set on an anchor position, but he’s told he needs to soften his image a bit. He’s assigned a personal interest piece that is a bit out of his comfort zone as a resident skeptic when it comes to love.

Together Lucy and Dean interview the couples who claim to have been brought together by the Cupids. Will all the publicity from Dean’s coverage be enough to help Lucy’s shop and help Dean secure the position he desperately wants?

As a fan of all things Hallmark, this novel did not disappoint. I can’t wait to see the Hallmark Channel original movie!

Thank you to NetGalley and Hallmark Publishing for allowing me to read an ARC of this novel. #NetGalley #SweeterThanChocolate

This is a sweet fun book that you don't want to miss. This is the perfect book to curl up with and forget all your troubles for a little while. I loved it and highly recommend it.
I received a complimentary copy from Hallmark Publishing via NetGalley and was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Super sweet (pun intended!) read heading into Valentine's Day. Lucy owns/manages her family's small-town chocolate shop, which is struggling. The shop has a small reputation for bringing couples together through its "cupid" chocolates. People who eat one of these chocolates on Valentine's Day allegedly have a better chance of finding love. Thanks to a friend, the cupids legend goes viral.

The attention captures the attention of a local news station, which assigns Dean to do a feel-good story on the cupids to try and rehab his hard-nose rep as he vies to get a sought after promotion. Dean does not believe in the legend of the cupids, but there is an immediate connection with Lucy, a connection she feels, too.

Both Lucy and Dean are not looking for, and are probably a little scared of, love. We follow them as they figure out whether to take a chance on the legend and each other.

This book is cute. A romance, but very little physical interaction. Some kissing but nothing more. Very much what I expect from Hallmark. 3.5 stars, rounded to 4.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book. The opinions herein are my own.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I adored this book. It was beyond cute and charming and full of delights. It was like reading a hallmark movie . I loved that it was lighthearted and drama free and that fact it had to do with a chocolate shop.

This was such a cute and fun read. I really liked Lucy and Dean! This is such a cute valentines day read,

Cannot wait to see it as a Hallmark Movie!

This is a cute story that's perfect to get you in the mood for Valentine's Day! With a small-town, chocolatier, a new pastry restaurant for competition, and a reporter in need of a feel-good story, it's a winning combination of drama and romance. Are the chocolates really magic? You'll have to read to find out!

Wonderful drama free novel! I know life is full of drama and heartache , but sometimes you want to escape it and read something drama free… this is the book for you! I loved the skepticism both characters had and I loved the way the author interwove it! Beautiful story! Perfect for Valentine’s Day or really any day!

Lucy is a chocolatier and has a shop call How Sweet It Is and has “magic” chocolate that helps you find your true love called Cupids that work on Valentines Day and it’s a family recipe.

Dean is a matter of fact reporter and gets down to the but and grit of facts to help the little guys. He’s a skeptic for sure and thinks there’s got to be something up with this shop! Magic isn’t real… What will Dean find? Especially when his boss wants a fluff piece.

Is there more to the story then everyone let’s on? Will Lucy break his shell? Will Lucy stop believing in the magic of the family recipe?

You’ll have to read to find out what happens!

The reasoning behind my 3 Star ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ rating is not because it isn’t a good story because it is and would make a great movie as it soon will on Hallmark. It’s that it has gay couples in it (it doesn’t go into a lot of detail which is why it got 3 stars and not less) but I don’t like to read about it at all. Lizzie Shane did a great job writing and sucking you into the book and into the couples story. If you love Hallmark, RomCons and short easy to read chapters this book is for YOU!

Sweeter Than Chocolate was a short and sweet book but there wasn't much else to it. The story was obvious and felt very familiar. It was fun, but didn't really do anything new or groundbreaking.

This book was really a cute one with a lot of sweetness in it, just as I like it. It's not every day you read about a chocolate shop but this book had it all. And I enjoyed it. Every single chocolate moment.
🍫
But for me it felt kind of very obvious how the story would go... So it wasn't something extraordinary. To be honest, this story felt like one I have read many, many times

Sweeter Than Chocolate by Lizzie Shane was such a WOW fun book to read!

Lucy Sweet is the owner of How Sweet It Is, a chocolate shop that has become her legacy. Every Valentine's day, if someone ate a Cupid chocolate they were bound to find true love. Although Lucy was hesitant to make the claim, many others had found it to be true.

Dean Chase, a TV reporter who chases down fraud was given the assignment of doing a fluff piece for the station. Resisting his natural tendency of skepticism, he meets Lucy and the chemistry is immediate.

This was such a great clean rom-com. I loved how Lucy and Dean interacted. They had great dialogue, and their continued resistance to each other made the story all the more intriguing. It was really hard to put this story down. A Hallmark publication, that I could see made into a movie. Definitely one that you should put on your to be read list.

I received a complimentary ebook copy from the publisher, through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

This was so sweet that if it wasn't published by Hallmark, I would have found it sickly - but somehow it worked. It was lighthearted without too much serious conflict and the pace was perfect for curling up with on a rainy day. Lucy and Dean's POVs felt well fleshed out and distinctive and I looked forward to seeing their perspectives on scenes.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for sending an eARC in exchange for an honest review, all opinions are my own.

Sweeter than chocolate is the perfect romcom. It has all my favorite elements of a hallmark movie. Is it even a romcom if there isn't good banter. This is my second Lizzie Shane and I am not dissappointed.
Love, chocolate and a little magic definitely recommend this read.

Would you eat a chocolate to find your true love?

This book is classic Hallmark. It is sweet, clean, charming and wholesome. Plus there is chocolate. Lots of chocolate. I loved the concept of magic in the Cupid Chocolates on Valentines Day. The story is enjoyable and played out in my mind as a movie, which is always a good thing in my opinion. It was a fun read.

No sex, language or violence

If You love Hallmark channels' movies, You definitely will Love this book! It has everything a love story recipe requires: A skeptic love journalist man(who actually is a lover that has his heart hurt once and now is afraid of love) and a lady chocolate shop owner, that is famous for a legend of true love found after tasting the delicous chocolate cupid cookie. In order to get a promotion, Dean Chase has to make and interview and an article about the shop, so He starts to follow the shop day by day, and also get along with Lucy while tries to discover if the legend is a fraud or reality... by himself.

I truly love this sotry, it's the kind of comfort book I always look forward to read and enjoy, and happened exactly like this. I Wish to see this turning into a movie soon enough! Approved!

Thanks to Hallmark Publishing and Netgalley I got to read this in exchange for my honest opinion. This novel is so wholesome and heart filled. I really loved it and felt like I knew the characters. I would love to see this novel as a movie. I loved the setting of the chocolate shop, and how the characters came to realize how faith and love can go hand in hand and also the complications it ca. lead to.
