I LOVE celebrity romances so I was really excited for this book. But, sadly I didn't connect with this one. I found it really slow paced, and couldn't get into it from the beginning.
This was, sadly, not for me.
While the book has an intriguing concept - it doesn't quite deliver. The pitch really drew me in, I am a SUCKER for celebrity/hollywood romances, but the love story felt rushed and the characters felt underdeveloped. I know everyone is leaning away from a third act break up, but this really lacked any form of conflict or relationship hurdles.
If you're in the mood for a fluffy, straightforward love story, then this might be an enjoyable beach read!
This book was not for me. I appreciate the publishers and netgalley giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
This was a great little read and made me not want to put it down. I loved the mix of suspense and humor and was HERE for it. I look forward to reading more by Leavy.
DNF’ed at 30%. This book’s pacing was off. I kept pushing through but the story just wasn’t grabbing me. The characters are bland and the story is forgettable. I wasn’t interested enough to finish the story.
Thank you NetGalley and the published for the e-arc!
Dee is super smart and knows a lot about art, while Rye is a famous actor. Despite their differences, they connect over their shared interests and realize they're meant to be together.
As they spend time together, they bond over art, have fun conversations, and feel a strong attraction. Through their experiences, they learn that love can be found unexpectedly and that shared passions can bring people together.
The book celebrates the joy of finding love in unexpected places and the power of connecting with someone who shares your interests.
I honestly saw the cover and got Meg Cabot or 90s rom-com vibes. Unfortunately, this story did not hold my attention. This is not to say it was a bad book, it just is unfortunately not my cup of tea! I'm sure someone will love it, and if it gets many positive reviews, i would consider re-reading for sure!!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me in exchange for my opinion

Sadly, this just wasn’t for me,
The main characters meet and within 2 minutes of their single interaction, they kiss. An hour later they are falling in love with each other.
I’m all for the instalove trope, but only if it’s done right but sadly, for me, this wasn’t.
It’s one of those books where nothing really happens, with characters that are mostly perfectly evolved. The only remotely 'bad' thing that happens is resolved pretty fast.
I wanted to like this book so much. It is totally my kind of story — celeb romance. But it was so juvenile and stilted that I could barely finish it. They fell in love in five minutes, told each other they loved the other all day long and there was no conflict. That is what makes sparks. Instead, the main female character was the center of attention and nearly every scene underscored how beautiful, talented, riveting and intelligent she was. When I see that in a book, I always feel as if the author has a self-esteem problem and needs the character created perfect and deserving of praise, something the author longs for in real life. it was just hard to stomach after awhile.
I heartily recommend this book to those looking for sweet, light-hearted and engagingly entertaining read. So adored this book.
the characters in this book were lifeless and this was hard to get through. I thought the hollywood aspect would be more interesting but it wasn't for me.
There were some parts of this book that I really enjoyed, however I found it hard to get into because of the writing style and I found some parts fell flat for me mainly around the writing side of things.
However I am sure that loads of people will feel differently and love this book
I found the writing in Hollyland hard to follow and could not finish reading this novel because of it. The characters were not well developed and nothing about it captured my attention.
This had the makings of a really great book but for some reason fell flat. I felt sad that it does not live up to its potential as I have no doubt that the author is talented. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of the book in exchange for a review.
Hollyland is an incredibly heartwarming homage to the magic in love, life, and the arts--another masterpiece by Patricia Leavy! The novel is unputdownable, happy, and brimming with positivity and a deep, genuine respect for the gifts life has to offer. The characters are super-loveable, and there is so much to learn about as you read!
I genuinely couldn't get past the third page. DNFed after multiple attempts at reading. I received a complimentary e-ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are mine.
Super quick and super cute! Felt some parts were pretty rushed, especially the end but was happy with it.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with this book
Dee is one of my favorite main characters. Such a good book! I didn’t want this book to end & I cannot wait to discover more by the author.
Hollyland by Patricia Leavy takes the reader to the world of Hollywood. This was a light, easy fictional read that helped me escape to Hollywood and enjoy the whirlwind romance of artistic genius Dee and famous actor Ryder Field. This novel was fast paced and focused on the pair’s love story. Looking forward to more from this author.
This type of book is my jam, but this one didn't hit the mark for me. I liked the premise, but the characters falling in love didn't feel too believable for me. There are only a few times where I am okay - and even believe - in "Insta-Love", but not this time. The characters also felt flat to me. I wanted to like it, but it was a book that I finished reading, moved on the the next, and forgot a good chunk of it a week later.
Thanks to She Writes Press and NetGalley for the ARC of this book!
