I didn't know that this book was the second in a series. Nevertheless, it can still be read or listened to as a stand-alone book and I enjoyed it. I loved the narration by Dion Graham and in my opinion, it made the book that much interesting. I have not read The Bucket List but it's safe to say I'll be looking forward to it after this one.

This is the second case for agent John Adderley so I think I would have it enjoyed even more if I knew the first story.
This one centers around Alicia. She prefers to stay in the background due to her disfigured face. Since she is a freak at coding she sets up a dating app company. Stellaacts as the face of the company,until she is found dead.
Enters former FBI agent John Adderley, who basically wants to leave Sweden. Now he immersers himself into the murder investigation.
I enjoyed the book particularly the audio version narrated by Dion Graham

When Stella is brutally murdered former FBI agent John Adderley investigates but he has secrets of his own. Then Alicia murders the man she believes killed her sister thinking she would be next.

I was given a NetGalley widget for this one a year ago and I just got around to reading it and dangit it was so good. I am so thankful for the opportunity to have consumed this wildly relevant fictional tale, which felt not at all fictional, more like historical fiction, due to the times. The cover initially was what drew me in, but I'm so thankful to have stuck with it because the outcome was magical. I always love listening to audiobooks and when they sweep me off my feet, I'm just utterly captivated! I always really enjoy multi-cultural thrillers, for I embark on a journey through a land unknown to me, while still getting spooked.

Alicia is the "other sister" who has faded into the background so her beautiful, successful sister, Stella can shine brightly. They run a successful business together, but Stella is the star. Stella is found murdered. Former FBI agent Jon Adderly is called in to investigate. (I normally don't do plot summaries in my reviews, but it may be helpful in this case).

I listened to the English audiobook version of "The Other Sister". I love Scandi crime thrillers and was looking forward to diving in. The book is a bit convoluted at the start (hence the plot summary above) with the plot taking longer than it needed to get to the core of the story. But, if you stick with it, you'll be rewarded with a well-crafted second half that keeps you on your toes. The core mystery has all the feels of a Scandi thriller and that's what I am here for! I thought too much of the book was devoted to the side story of Agent Adderly. I really enjoyed the second half and that's what drove up the star count.

3.5 stars- Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to review this before publication. This was an okay read, not great. The author does a great job with character development and detail, the part that was a bit of a turnoff for me was the outrageous plot at times.

I thought The Other Sister by Peter Mohlin and Peter Nystrom was a great follow up to the first book in the John Adderley series. When I received this audiobook, I decided to listen to The Bucket List first and it was a wonderful read. I enjoy the Scandi-noir thrillers and this series suits my taste really well.

In this second installment we meet John Adderley again and this time he really gets into some things that made me question his character. It's a good study on how far one person can go to cover up some shady doings. You'd normally expect the bad guys to do that kind of thing but usually the main characters are portrayed as the good ones that don't stray away from the right path. Not the case here which is interesting. As with the first book, I thought the story and the characters were captivating. It's a fast-paced thriller with many twists and turns.

As I listened to the audiobook narrated by Dion Graham, I wanted to mention that I enjoyed his narration. His voice is very suitable for this series.

I'm definitely looking forward to the future books by these authors.

I requested this one because it might be an upcoming title I would like to review on my Youtube Channel. However, after reading the first several chapters I have determined that this book does not suit my tastes. So I decided to DNF this one.

I listened to the audio for this, which is why it took me a while to finish it.

I enjoy Scandi crime thrillers, which is why I was interested in this. I found it quite dark and suspenseful. I was interested in the characters, even if I didn't relate to them or particularly like them, and I found some characters more likeable than others. There were some twists, and it held my interest through to the end.

OK first off let me explain why I gave this narrator one star. It's not because he has a bad voice, it's just not right for this book.

I read/ listen to alot of Swedish books, one of my favourite authors is Viveca Sten and this is the first time I've come across an audiobook that is using an American narrator. I know there is an American character in it but this absolutely ruined the experience for me to the point I struggled to get into the story. I think in this case I would have enjoyed this more if I had read it instead of listened to it.

Man the "other" sister fucked up her sister, royally for her whole damn life! I liked all the twists and turns and the threat to John's life and job all thrown together for us to work through in the book! It all came together in the end so well. Will definitely be picking up more books by this author!

In this Scandi-noir thriller, we meet two sisters: beautiful Stella, the face of the successful dating app, and "the other sister", Alicia, the company's coding genius whose disfigured face often shocks people who meet her. Well, this was surely a fast-paced thriller from the very beginning! There are many twists and turns in this book to keep the reader engaged. I listened to the audiobook, and I have to say, the narration unfortunately was not my cup of tea. Although the voices of the male characters were very well done, I wish the female characters were narrated by a female.

In this book, the authors give us a glimpse at John Adderley's past, but if you get a chance to read The Bucket List, the first novel in the series, you may understand the back story a little better. The characters of the sisters in the book were well developed and I enjoyed their storyline. John Adderley, who is the detective in the series, was a little harder for me to relate to. His story was more difficult to follow and his character was of questionable integrity.

All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed the writing style and the wonderful translation from Sweedish. This is a great suspense novel with two narratives, the murder investigation and a drug cartel crime, which intertwine to deliver a shocking outcome.

This was definitely not my cup of tea. I found it a bit jarring and convoluted, and the reviewer was not my favourite. Maybe with different subject matter the latter fact would be different, it's the first time I've listened to anything narrated by him (Dion Graham), but this did not work for me at all. Also, I'm really not prudish, but the crudeness made it seem a little amateurish.

I pick this book after reading the synopsis of the book the storyline was different from other thrillers which made me pick this book. My reviews are always honest and i try not to give less then 3 stars because every writer works so hard to write a book. This book not work for me the story and characters are ok not too good not too bad. 🙃 i hope i didn't offend anyone from my opinion because my be this book works for u. Will try to read other books by the author because he came up with a very different story line.

I hate to say it, but this book was just okay for me.

I really liked the first book (The Bucket List) and enjoyed following John's journey to Sweden to find the truth surrounding the crime his brother had allegedly committed. I liked John's determination - not to prove his brother innocent, but to find the truth. He didn't do what was easy, but what was right, even when his cover was discovered.

However, in this second book, John throws that moral compass out the window. I didn't enjoy following his crime-solving journey this time because he wasn't searching for the truth. Instead, he was covering it up, and <spoiler>helping someone else get away with murder in the process.</spoiler>

I'll be honest, the ending did, in some ways, make up for it, but a lot of the story was just not quite fully believable. I'd been really looking forward to this book (hence I requested an ARC through NetGalley), but it ended up disappointing me.

The setting was fabulous, the story was interesting, and the characters were complex. There was a complicated murder, an intricate cover up, and a complex sisterly relationship at the centre. This had all the marks of being a book I would love, but ended up just not hitting right.

I would still be interested in reading more books about John Adderley, but would have lower expectations going forward.

this book kept me thinking and to be honest I never figured it out until they got ready to tell us.. I really enjoy suspense and mysteries and this book is one of the best I have read in a while. If you like multiple different "what is going on now" moments in a book this is the one for you.
