Okay, I was really excited about this one, but honestly it just wasn’t my cup of tea. It had so much potential and just didn’t live up to it for me.
A fun new entry into Jaclyn Moriarty's series that began with Bronte Mettlestone. This time a boy from Australia is swept up in the world of the many Mettlestone cousins and embarks on a quest to save an Elven city. It is silly and colorful and truly delightful. The great thing about this series is you can drop in at anytime and still follow the plot. This would be a high interest read for middle grade readers of all ages.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an audio galley in exchange for a fair and honest review.

This was adorable! Exactly what I’ve been craving for for quite a while now, and I’m so glad I got the arc for the audiobook. It was such a pleasure listening to this story.
Just like the first three books, the writing was fun, heartwarming and engaging, with entertaining premise and good pacing. We also got a new character who quickly got a huge place in my heart. I'm sure kids will love it just as much as I did.
A huge thank you to NetGalley and RB Media for providing me with an audio ARC of Oscar from Elsewhere by Jaclyn Moriarty in exchange for an honest review.

What a great surprise! I had no idea what to expect, but I loved this tale of a group of friends on a quest to find a key to save an elven city. That’s right, an elven city. Oscar from Sydney finds a way to travel to another world full of elves, and fairies, and witches and more and befriends some other children as they quest to save the city. This is a great story for kids of all ages. And, only after finishing did I find out it is the fourth book in a series. Now I must go back and read the others because I enjoyed this so much.

Another wonderful edition to the Kingdoms & Empires series! This is a series where you can lose yourself in the adventure. Bronte’s original extremely inconvenient adventure is still my absolute favorite but I enjoy every one that has come after!
The Astonishing Chronicles of Oscar from Elsewhere is an incredibly fun and adventurous book about a non-magical boy named Oscar who falls into a magical world. While this is the fourth book in the Kingdoms and Empires series, this is the first that I've read. I was happy to find that it took me no time to understand the world and the characters. This story is whimsical and exciting, and I loved the characters so much. I'm definitely planning on going back to read others from the series. I loved it!
Thank you, NetGalley, for an advanced copy of the audiobook.
This was a super cute book for children. I think the children will really enjoy this book. The narrator of this book was great.
I wasn't aware that this was #4 in the series. This book does extremely well "standing on its own". I was only about 1/4 into the book I ordered the 1st book in the series from Audible. (Often I "say" that I plan to check out other books in the series or by the author; but I rarely take the plunge and purchase ... and almost never before finishing the current book. Anyway, no regrets. Finished and loved Oscar from Elsewhere!
Other-worldly Oscar falls into a fantasy world and teams up with some other children to save a city of elves from destruction.
The narrators Dorje Swallow and Rebecca Norfolk were absolutely fantastic! I especially loved their singing!
Absolutely wonderful story line!
Thank you to NetGalley (especially for once again introducing me to a "new to me author") and for the opportunity to listen to Oscar from Elsewhere in exchange for an honest review. Great job to the author Jaclyn Moriarty. Also thank you to the publisher RB Media, Recorded Books. Publication date is 15 Nov 2022.
Magic, Elves, Witches and a contest to elect the leader. Immerse yourself in the middle-grade saga of this adventure story of Oscar.
At this time of the year, reading books with magical adventures seems like a bonus to me. It's light, mystic and a bit silly in places. If your real-life schedule is currently keeping you on your toes, this story can be like a power nap. The character of Oscar is showcased as an average young boy in the modern world - which intertwines with the magical world of the other 5. The cross-breed product is great but certain instances in the story felt too silly to even for children (especially considering the smarter generation we have now). Overall an enjoyable one-time read for me.
Thankyou @netgalley @jaclynmoriarty @levinequerido and @recordedbooks for the Digital ARC

This is the fourth book in the series, so there is some backstory missing if you start with it. Oscar is from another world but finds himself on a quest to save a city of elves. There are plenty of misunderstandings that add to the humor of the book! I got a free copy of the audiobook from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I liked it enough to read the rest of the series!
Thank you so much for letting me listen to this audiobook. It was so nice to re-meet all those characters I got to meet in previous books in this world.
The Chronicles of Oscar from Elsewhere is a charming book. While I did feel a bit of sympathy fr Oscar's teacher in the opening scene (as a boring adult) I love Oscar's impishness and confidence.
This book is a quest story with plucky characters, tiny elves, and some cool, smart young women who accompany Oscar on adventures. In its sense of humor, it reminds me a bit of Terry Pratchett's writing.
This is precisely the kind of story I loved as a kid and I clearly haven't grown out of it. I will be handing this book to readers in our store.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
This was such a cute and fun adventure! I loved the dual perspectives as each brought a great amount of humor to the story. This was full of action and the story moved quickly.
