It took me some time to get into this book.
It was also a bit obvious as to who the perpetrators were, even though I half changed my mind a few times and even thought I'd got it totally wrong near the end. It was still an enjoyable read and the second half was much better than the first so if you start reading and think of putting this in your dnf list, stick with it

Kate and Emma were inseparable, they were best friends that were so close they considered themselves sisters. On the night of their high school graduation, Emma and Kate and their group of friends went to a bonfire party, when their whole friend group decided to split up for a little bit and do their own thing at the bonfire. Kate comes into the clearing of woods to find her friend and protector, a homeless man named Brad, bloodied and dead, Kate finds Emma standing over Brad with a blood splattered rock. Kate decided to take her little sister, Lily to the party with her because their mom was running late from her work meetings or whatever little shenanigans she was doing, no one ever really knew what she was doing, Kate didn't want to leave Lily home alone, so she decided to take her with. Kate tried to always be there for her little sister, and be her protector, but once Lily witnesses what's going on, she's completely traumatized, she won't talk to anyone, she won't even speak anymore. Kate feels like she failed her little sister in so many ways. Emma whispers, "it was accident", but Kate doesn't listen, she turns and grabs for Lily and decides to run away never looking back. Kate decided to run away with Lily and leave Emma behind not knowing why Emma did what she did to Brad, but as you read the book you will find all the truths. Kate decided not to tell anyone the truth of what she saw, knowing she could never betray her best friend. After that night, Kate decides to pack her bags and land herself in Boston, with a job as a server. Kate couldn't watch Emma pick herself back up and live a normal life as if the murder never happened, another reason Kate decides to leave. After ten years of being gone, Kate receives a silent phone call from her little sister, Lily, and Kate knows that phone call means she must return to Florida immediately. Kate arrives back in Florida just in time to help her mom because she has a broken hip "due to a fall". Kate also learned that Emma has died as well and Kate is in time for Emma's funeral. Kate sees all her old friends at Emma's funeral from ten years ago. And Lily still won't talk. Lily has been to a numerous amount of doctors and therapists trying to help her speak again, but she won't, she's too traumatized after that night she saw everything.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me an advance copy.
I love when a thriller catches me off guard, but I love when a thriller works its way up to a twist to where it does not feel all of a sudden. I get that some thrillers love to have bombshell twists out of nowhere, but I appreciate a leading up to a mind-blowing twist. Well, that's what this book did, and it worked for me. I am a sucker for an unreliable narrator, and the MC was about as unreliable as you can get. First read by this author, and I am sure I will read more eventually. 4.5 stars
#Jawdropping bombshells! This is a fantastic thriller of a read!
Kate Handford is amazing as narrator!
Thank you, Shannon Hollinger, Bookouture, #bookoutureaudio & netgalley for my copy & #audiobook to read! All opinions are my own.
Kate has returned home as her mother has had an accident and broken her hip. She has not been home for a decade.
Kate and Emma were best friends, inseparable until ten years ago when at their graduation Kate sees Emma standing over the body of a friend of hers holding a rock. Kate flees town leaving her younger sister who was also there and have never spoken since.
The story is told in dual timelines, which helped build the suspension and kept me gripped.
This was a great thrilling read that had me until its surprising ending.
Thank you to Netgalley for my copy in exchange for an honest review.
This book was crazy! A lot of twist and turns. I had no idea of what I got myself into when I read it. I enjoyed every bit of it.
This author has written a gripping psychological thriller. This book was sent to me electronically by Netgalley for review. Thanks to the publisher and the author also.friends and family…love and romance…secrets…red herrings. The past meets the present…themes running through this story that keeps the reader glued to the pages…a cannot put down novel…don’t start this in the evening because even though the story moves quickly. It is a book that is difficult to forget, once finished…enjoy. Best friends.
This book is pure adrenaline. It caught my attention in the first few pages. The author really knows how to draw you in. The characters are realistic. The plot had twists and turns coming out of nowhere. It was all I could do to turn the pages as fast as I was reading them. This was one heck of a book.
I think you are best at going in blind with this one. The pace is fast , twists you wouldnt pick. I was engrossed in this book and couldnt put it down.
A good read though I did find it rather slow for the first third of the book. It then picked up pace and had so many twists and turns with an ending that you just didn’t see coming !
This one was hard for me. I found myself intrigued just enough to want to know the ending with all of its twists, but I didn’t really care for Kate or any of the characters enough to truly care. I pushed through and overall enjoyed it enough not to hate it.
Thank you for allowing me to review this book. This book was fast paced and twisty which kept me hooked from the very first page!
Thankyou to Netgalley, Shannon Hollinger and the publisher for allowing me to read this ARC.

Well as a debut, this is a brilliant read! I have devoured page after page in just one sitting. This is a must for the TBR.
Hollinger pulls us in quickly to this one. Once captivated, this becomes completely impossible to put down. Kate and Emma have always been best friends. That is until one sees the other holding a brick over a dead body.
There are a few twists in this one which have been unpredictable. They have definitely kept me on the edge of my seat. I haven’t really felt invested in the characters although I wanted to know more.
Hollinger has created a fast paced read which will grip the reader. This is a book I have really enjoyed. I cannot wait to read more by this author.
Wow! This book has a lot, and I do mean a lot. With that being said, I thought it was very entertaining, even though it was slightly slow in the beginning. Some of the things that happened were way over the top and unbelievable. It definitely kept me interested and engaged trying to piece together the mystery. I have to admit I didn’t predict the final twist even with clues sprinkled throughout the book. Very shocking! Thank you Bookouture and NetGalley for my copy.
BEST FRIENDS FOREVER By Shannon Hollinger
A tragedy makes Kate run leaving all that she loves and is familiar with behind. Now she is back after 10 years to take care of her mother.
😊What i liked -
✔ Thriller/Mystery.
✔ I liked the character buildup of all the characters.
✔ I liked that a few chapters started with a snippet of the past to keep you engrossed in the story and to create mystery.
✔ The book is pretty twisty with an end that leaves you stumped.
✔ This is a well written, pretty twisty story with a few hidden traumas.
🤔What could have been better -
✔ This book was in a single pov, the book would have created more suspense with at least one more pov.
✔ The book was one paced, not slow or fast but medium paced. I would have liked it more if it was fast paced and minus a few pages.

This book took me a while to get into, however after around the 75 page mark it really sped up and I finished it in just a few hours. Each chapter left me wanting more and I couldn’t put it down once I got into the flow of it! Highly recommend! My favourite book of the year so far!
Thank You to #NetGalley, Bookouture and Shannon Hollinger for the opportunity to read an advance coy of BEST FRIENDS FOREVER, In this domestic thriller, everybody was suspected until the very end! Kate, after 10 years, returns home to solve a murder and discovers more murders with the same modi's operandi have occurred. She feels guilty about having left her best friend and feels that she failed her younger sister. This is definitely a "who done it" kind of novel with multiple twists and turns. Readers of Shannon Hollinger are likely to enjoy this tale very much.
