Ten years ago, Kate saw her best friend, Emma, kill someone. She couldn’t tell anyone what she saw but she also couldn’t stay, so she left. Now, Kate is back in her hometown, where Emma is soon found dead. Kate starts looking for answers, about the past, the present, but as she searches, she finds more questions than answers. All this time, could she have mistaken what she saw that night? Could Emma have had an accomplice? Could she be innocent? Nothing is adding up. The more Kate looks for answers, the more she realises the grave danger she’s in. Is there anyone she can trust?
I loved this from beginning to end! Almost all of the characters were acting suspiciously at some point and that made me even more invested into finding out why. And that ending!! It was incredible, tied everything together so well. So much suspense and there were some really great twists! Some that i’d predicted and some that were really unexpected. I enjoyed this from the beginning but i’d have to say the ending was the highlight for me. I definitely recommend this

If you like authors messing with your head, then psychological thrillers are the thing for you. I
I had the pleasure meeting this author and the title intrigued me. Why? Well, best friends forever is something you often say when you are in school. The friendships that are formed there are deep and through those years you really mean that. Those people are going to be in your life forever and ever.
I am guilty too. I thought I had some very profound friendships too, but then, once you leave school, people often take different directions and even if you swore you would stay in contact, more than once, you just don't. Or maybe you do, but only in the beginning.
It's of course also possible something life shattering happens and you feel te need to leave your hometown. That's the best thing for you, but don't you wonder whether it's the best thing for those you stay behind?
That's what is happening here with Kate. She leaves her friends and her family behind, but when she is forced to come back home, everything comes back and this time she will not run anymore. This time she will get to the bottom of this. Let me tell you, she gets a lot more than she bargained for...
I love books messing with my head and not seeing where they are going to take me. The author did exactly that although I have to say it took me a while before I really was swept away by this story. I am not a quitter though and the more I read the more I was taken by it.
I enjoyed it a lot. Loved the bombshells that were being dropped left, right and center. 4 stars
Thank you
10 years ago Kate was at a party with her friends Emma, Becca, Mel and her sister Lily. Kates homeless friend Brad was murdered that night. Kate moves to Boston for 10 years and after her mother has an accident she decides to go back home and look into what really happened that night. This book kept me on the edge of my seat and was full of surprises. I really enjoyed reading it. Thanks NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC!
This book had some really good twists. It kept me wanting to keep going just to see what was going to happen next. I would give it an overall rating of 4 stars. I think if you enjoy Freida McFadden's book you will really like this one.
For some reason i took a while to get into this book but so glad i persevered.
An excellent psychological thriller which keeps you guessing until the very end.
My thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my copy.
Although I've read many stories that are similar to this before, I never tire of it. A woman with a traumatic past comes back to her hometown after having spent many years away, facing her old friends, family, and the secrets they hold. I enjoyed this for the most part and especially liked the chapters written in the past, each time giving you a little bit more of what happened. While I didn't particularly care for most characters in this, it was a good kind of dislike where it kept you intrigued and guessing who's the most guilty out of all of them. I did guess pretty early on about who did what, it was still well worth the read. I'll give this three and a half stars rounded up.
Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC.
That’s creepy. That’s so disturbing. There’s this character/s you wouldn’t want to know they exist!
Thank you, Bookouture, for the advance reading copy.
I can say I haven’t read a 300 plus page book this fast ever!
I would suggest you to pick up this book blindly as it has a lot of twists and turns. I feel you will enjoy this book more then.
But also, it’s okay to read the blurb before you pick up this book as the plot stays true to the blurb. No exaggerations. No different than the actual plot. I really appreciate this.
This is my first read from the author and I am so glad I got the advance reading copy when I was in desperate need to read a murder mystery thriller during the beginning of winter.
The writing is fast paced (no doubt about it!) with an atmospheric feel at most parts.
I would say the twist is hidden well and you will want to match every character possible with the hidden culprit/s.
Trigger warnings for for graphic scenes, sexual assault and neglect.
Well written with some crazy twists!
