Another great instalment in the Josie Quinn series! I did something that I rarely so…when I got this book from Net Galley I had to read it right away so stopped the book I was already reading! As with the rest of the series, there is nothing I can really say negatively about this book! Great story line, fast paced, relatable characters…over all awesome!
This latest instalment of the series did not disappoint, could not put it down once I had started! Plenty of twists and turns that kept me guessing throughout. Definitely worth reading
This is another strong mystery and welcome addition to Lisa Regan’s Detective Josie Quinn series. It involves a knotty murder mystery involving two celebrity presenters, Beau and Claudia Collins, who host a marriage guidance TV on local TV. They also have a successful podcast, a number of books and their TV show is about to go global. Of course, their own marriage seems to be perfect and they regularly feature romantic events in their lives on the show, such as their upcoming fifteenth wedding anniversary dinner. When Beau arrives home to a candlelight dinner, he finds Claudia already sitting at the table, but she’s dead and clutching a box containing a message for Beau. He soon discovers, this is just the beginning of a deadly game that the murderer will keep playing until they get the answers they want.
The plot in this sixteenth episode in the series is complex and driven more by the crime with less focus on the characters and their development than usual. The focus is very much on Josie and Noah as the main investigators, and not so much the rest of their team. Although, an old character from previous novels returns, adding a new angle to the police work and the promise of more involvement in the future. Throughout most of the book, Lisa Regan kept us guessing as to who the murderer could be and what their motive was, right up until the high tension ending where innocent lives are at risk. There were some good unexpected twists, but I did feel the revelations weren’t quite as smooth as usual with a lot of explanation required to tie everything together.
I’ve read every Josie Quinn book written. Every single time I finish a book I think “that was the best one”. And every time I start a new one I worry I won’t like it as much as the last. Every single time, I’m wrong.
The Innocent Wife has so many twists and turns that every time I thought I figured one thing out, something else was already happening proving me wrong.
Claudia Collins, a famous tv star, is found dead in her home by her assistant. Her death starts a dangerous game that no one knows the rules to… but the killer. As Detective Josie Quinn and her team race an invisible clock to find the person/persons responsible, they are met with more questions than answers. As the bodies keep piling up, more secrets and lies are revealed.
You will not be disappointed in this one.
Whenever I get my hands on a new Josie Quinn book, I immediately dive in. This has quickly become one of my favorite series! I love catching up with the crew and seeing what the new case is. This case was perplexing and full of twists. I was disappointed that the supporting characters were missing in this one- they were on the peripheral and there was very little interaction. One of the standouts in this series is the character development and I missed that in this installment. Some of the characters weren't even mentioned, which made me sad because I wanted an update on them! Overall though, a great police procedural featuring one of my favorite detectives.
This is book #16 in the Josie Quinn series. Whilst it is part of a series, it can easily be read as a standalone book, although I would recommend reading them in series order. I’ve read this series from the beginning and really like Josie Quinn’s character. When a TV celebrity is found brutally murdered, it’s Josie and Noah’s job to investigate. The case is tricky one, with the killer wanting to play a game with them, and soon there are more murders for them to solve.
As with all the other books, this book draws you in from the beginning. It was great to see Josie back on top form and whilst we know from previous books that it’s been difficult for her in her personal life, we get to see the gutsy, gritty detective back and cleverly working out who the killer is. We also get to see a past character return which was a very welcome return, but will it cause trouble for Josie and Noah…we will have to wait and see!
The storyline is a little gruesome at times, but there are lots of tense and suspense filled moments, which will get your heart beating that bit faster! It was fast paced and thrilling, keeping you hooked throughout! There are lots of characters to point the finger of suspicion at, and the author again keeps me swapping and changing my opinion as to who the killer is! We also get to meet again all of Josie’s team, who all work so well together and of course I couldn’t forget to mention Harris who is now 7 years old!! I remember him as a new-born baby in the early books of the series! Whilst we are at book #16, this series is still going strong and I’m looking forward to seeing what happens in future storylines! This is a great thriller of a read, along with the other books in the series, and I would recommend them all!
4.5 murder game stars
I applaud Lisa Regan for keeping this series robust and interesting, this is number sixteen and it does not disappoint. She remains a go-to author for me, and I anxiously await each new adventure for Josie, Noah, and the team in Denton. As real as these characters are to me, I would not want to visit murder-filled Denton!
This time Josie is drawn into the world of tv stars, Claudia and Beau are hosts of a popular relationship show and they are about to film their anniversary dinner for their fans. However, the dinner never happens and soon the team is investigating a murder. There are personal assistants to interview, social media to pour through, and workplace jealousies to investigate. I had a hard time figuring out who was responsible for the first murder and then even more bodies turn up.
There are secrets and twists in this one and I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough to get to the resolution. There are also some mysterious diary entries that added to the storyline and Beau seemed to be at the center of everything. The killer seems to be playing a game and I was anxious for the team to solve the case before more bodies were found!
In the 16th book of the Josie Quinn series, murder has become a puzzling game to solve. Get a question wrong? A new body will be turning up. In a race to find a killer, Josie and her team only find less people they can trust. Bodies are piling up, leaving more questions than answers. Who out there is trying to hurt Beau Collins, grief-stricken husband and public figure? And why?
After 16 books, you would expect the stories to become less exciting—but not with @lisareganauthor. This was another thrilling read—I had a hard time putting it down. I love coming back to Josie and team. It’s powerful to see her overcome her
own traumas and history throughout each book.
Even if you have not read the previous books in the series, each one can stand alone. Although, I DO recommend reading them all for enhanced character and relationship development… and because they are wonderful.
Thank you so much to @netgalley @bookouture @lisareganauthor for the eARC of this book being released on December 12th, 2022!
Let's play a game ... what could go wrong when revenge is involved?
When Det. Josie Quinn, along with her husband, Lt. Noah Fraley, are called to the home of a local tv relationship doctor, Beau Collins, and his wife Claudia, a well known tv/podcaster, they find that Claudia has been violently murdered. The scene has been staged ... the game has begun. Lies, murder, revenge, and martial affairs. Of course everyone has an alibi. As the bodies start to pile up, Josie and her team race to find answers. Each body has a small wooden puzzle box in their hand. Inside the puzzle box is the next clue in the game. Can they piece the puzzle together before the next murder? It’s great to see Josie deal with some of her past nightmares with a lot of understanding and support Noah. Having Luke (blast from the past) and his now trained search & rescue dog make a return and was interesting addition.
Special shout to Bookouture and NetGalley! Thank you!
I can't believe I just finished book #16 in a series and the book was just as good as every single book in this series. Usually by book 16 the series loses it's suspense and is usually quite boring but not the Josie Quinn series! I absolutely loved this book. Who murdered Claire? Did Beau her husband? Her stalker? Josie and her team are back to find out! Every time I start a book in this series I literally don't do anything else till I finish the book. The storylines and characters are so good and you can't help but not want to follow them book to book. Keep writing this series Lisa Regan I will read them as fast as you can write them! This series is definitely a series I would recommend to anyone who likes a good series with tons of mystery. Read it ! You won't be disappointed!!!
The Innocent Wife by Lisa Regan is book #16 in the Detective Josie Quin series. A gripping detective thriller that starts on simmer and builds to a boil. Dazzlingly clever, twisting and constantly surprising. An unputdownable rollercoaster of a read. The opening is atmospheric and completely absorbing. Immersive, pacy and unputdownable.
Book 16 in this series continues to get better!! The Innocent Wife starts with a chance meeting between Josie and a woman who would soon end up a murder victim. The crime was horrific but just the start of a “game”. This book kept me engaged and guessing all the way through. I had so many theories, some panned out, some didn’t. But the layers of the story kept changing who I thought was the killer. The characters were great and while it can be read as a stand a lone it is better when read as part of the series. I love Noah and how he is always Josie’s biggest supporter. I highly recommend this book to fans of Kendra Elliot and Melinda Leigh as Lisa Regan has a similar engaging style of keeping a balance between a great mystery and evolving relationships. Thanks to Ms Regan, the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review. 5 Stars!!
While this story was not one of my favorites in the Josie Quinn series it was still great. The story moves and turns and twists and stops and starts and looks forward and back and holds your attention from cover to cover. The twisted personalities and relationships was the only caveat. There was really no suspect to like - they were all complicit in their lies, deviousness and outrageous actions and omissions. Miserable, nasty miscreants one and all. Each one is playing off the other and that is what makes it all so nefarious and difficult to figure out who is the baddest of the bad - they all are.
I will admit to falling in love with Noah a little more in each book. When he tells Josie; “If anything ever happened to you, I’d burn this entire city down finding the person who hurt you.” - total commitment, total swoon. Their relationship is always an important part of each book however bringing her former fiancée Luke back provided an interesting look back at previous installments.
As far a police procedurals go Lisa Regan remains on top of the heap and I always look forward to her latest offering. Many thanks to Bookoutre and NetGalley for a copy.
The Innocent Wife grabs hold and doesn’t let go! Bodies are piling up, there are several suspects, the clues are frustrating, and time is running out. Danger, intrigue, action, lies, secrets, and more. I loved this book!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Lisa Regan is known to give us around 2 books every year, and she has never let me down with the quality1
The innocent wife is the latest in her Josie Quinn series and this one is another banger!
The wife of a famous couple is killed, and what follows is an intense race against the clock to catch the killer
the final twist was very very clever and I really enjoyed reading this
Claudia Collins has been murdered on the night of her 15th wedding anniversary. The killer has left a clue, a puzzle box in her hands. Her husband, Beau, with whom she has a TV show about relationships is understandably broken by the death of his wife.
Josie recognizes Claudia as the woman who saved her nephew Harris from being run over by a cyclist, but Claudia was knocked down, with her purchases strewn around her.
Soon, there is another murder, that of Beau's assistant on the show, and Josie has her work cut out for her trying to find the murderer before he strikes again.
Josie gathers clues, and finds out that there are many secrets and lies behind the murders.
Only her excellent investigating skills and her gut feelings will figure out who the murderer is.
As usual, Lisa Regan does not disappoint! I was thrilled to be chosen to read this ARC, as I am a huge fan of Josie Quinn and her team.
I enjoyed this book as much as I enjoyed the previous 15 books in the series.
I am so pleased that Josie has found happiness with Noah, love has softened her prickly exterior that she had in previous books.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
Waiting with bated breath for the next in the Josie Quinn series!
I can’t believe that this is book 16 of the amazing Detective Josie Quinn series, each and every one of these books has just been so good and this latest one lives up to all expectations.
The story starts out with the brutal murder of a Claudia Collins a tv personality, married to Beau and to all intents and purposes living the perfect life. But not is all that it seems and this is a staged murder with clues left at the scene so when Josie and the team begin to investigate and more murders follow it’s a roller coaster of a ride to try and catch the killer.
I loved this book Lisa Regan never fails to deliver, the plots of all the books are clever and well written and the series has gotten better and better but I do think this latest offering had that extra spark and I can’t wait for the next in the series.
So this is a book that has everything you would want in a wonderful 5 star police procedural it kept me gripped and once more many thanks to Lisa and long may you continue to write.
My thanks also to NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
This is the 16th book in the Detective Josie Quinn series. It did not disappoint! This series is so addictive. I cannot wait to read the next book❤️
Beau and Claudia Collins appear to be the perfect couple. The duo hosts a successful series about marriage and are set to celebrate their 15th anniversary. Then, beautiful Claudia is found murdered & Detective Josie Quinn is sent in to investigate.
The crime shocks everyone who knew the Collins and was close to them. As the investigation continues, secrets start to unravel. Was this couple less than perfect after all?
A small puzzle piece that was left at the scene is the only real clue the police have. When another body is found with a similar clue, police suspect Beau is hiding secrets. Will he come clean with the police before anyone else is killed?
Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the advance copy in exchange for an honest review.
First of all, it seems entirely unfair that Lisa Regan has to be compared with herself and her earlier 5⭐️ books! How could anyone ever top say book 3 in this series?
Book 16 wasn't one of my favourites but I still loved it and highly recommend it. Josie Quinn and the team are the best to follow IMO 🥰.
I'm noticing a trend of my 4 and 5 stars for Lisa Regan's J Quinn series - when the plot is about a person in Quinn's life, I'm more engrossed and fly through quicker- Regan has built incredible connections to the key characters across the books.
That's not to say this book isn't fab with new people because how could each book only be about Josie's peeps, far too unrealistic - she's already been through enough! BUT book 16 was missing one of my favourite characters.
I struggled in this one a few times: 1. at the start bc the newbies weren't likeable; 2. where the police were disclosing or allowing to be disclosed info in front of other people; and 3. where police, more than once, were questioning a witness while the witness was noticeably drunk (though they did seem to remember at the end they shouldn't do this).
⚠️ TWs: look them up online, but includes an animal is hurt in this book 👎💔 can all authors please stop letting any dogs get hurt please? I can't 😭
Thank you to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for providing an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
The 16th Josie Quinn book finds her investigating after the wife of a celebrity therapy couple winds up murdered on the day of their anniversary. As Josie and crew start to investigate the mysterious circumstances, more bodies show up. Josie must race against the clock to stop the murderer before more people die.
Another great Josie Quinn mystery! If you enjoyed the previous ones, you will enjoy this one! If you haven't read any of the others and like mysteries, then definitely start reading this series.
I received my copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
