After a tragic accident, Harper and Jodie, identical twins, are separated for the first time as one recovers and the other goes after their dream. The story is gripping and leaves readers wanting to flip the pages to learn what happens to Harper and Jodie as they struggle being apart and learning how to survive without the other. This book shows how strong sisterly love can be, even when those sisters are forced to live apart and need to learn from their own mistakes and what life hands them. #HerSistersPromise #NetGalley

I really appreciate the advanced reader copy from NetGalley. This book was not for me, it lacked a plot and was extremely disbelievable. How two inseparable twins could just go their separate ways when faced with the worst parts of their lives is beyond something I can even imagine.

This is an emotional story of twin dancers and their lives following Harper's tragic accident. Lives changed in the blink of an eye. . It is a heartbreaking and heartwarming story.
Thank you to Netgalley for allowing me to read an ARC

Such an emotional roller coaster of a read, utterly addictive reading too. I really liked how we had each chapter alternating between each sister, it gave me a feeling of suspense and was fantastic to allow you to experience the differences each sister was feeling at being apart.
Drama from the offset, it was a page turner and I was completely caught up in the story as it unfolded in ways that I had not anticipated.
Both sisters came across as strong characters, and both of them had their own challenges to overcome.
This was an amazing story and one I will remember for some time to come. Very clever writing indeed.

What drew me to this book initially was the beautiful cover. But the story in so compelling., heart breaking and heart warming wrapped up in that pretty cover. I pictured it in my head like it was on the big screen.

I liked this book without loving it. The storyline was fairly interesting and I liked the style of the writing. I didn’t love all the characters though and found it a bit slow in places. Parts of the story were a bit weak too.
I enjoyed the relationship between the identical twins and the emotions of being separated and missing each other and the way they felt each other’s pain.
For some reason I expected a more emotional read.
3 stars read for me

I don’t have sisters, but when I was young, my closest friends were twin sisters and I’ve seen the bond they shared. So when I read the book, I was even more moved to see how a bond between the twins Jodie and Harper is almost broken.

When tragedy in the form of an accident strikes Harper, she chooses to distance herself from Jodie, because she can’t watch her sister go on as a dancer, while her dream is shattered.

Then Jodie’s life begins to implode and she is desperately in need of her twin. The author’s insights into Jodie’s issues are shared so movingly.

Such a beautiful mix of heartbreak, sadness and deep love and strength, this book really pulled me in.

This is a book of hope too, underlining that we can recover from terrible setbacks.

Thrilled to be part of this #booksontour! This is a heartbreaking and gripping emotional read, perfect for fans of unputdownable family dramas, and for those who love reading Jodi Picoult, Liane Moriarty and Diane Chamberlain.

This was such a great book and I loved reading it! I felt instantly connected to the twins and the story, and when I wasn’t reading, I was thinking about the book and couldn’t wait to start reading again. The author mentions in her acknowledgments that she has been surrounded by and worked with people with disabilities and chronic illnesses throughout her life, and it shows in this book. The way she is able to capture the emotion and progress of one of the main characters, and the medical jargon and descriptions is evidence of her first hand knowledge and not just research she has done. I felt quite emotional several times and could feel physical pain in my heart a few times. Family drama and dynamics are my favorite topics to read about and this book captures all that I am drawn to. The bonds these twin sisters have is amazing, yet I was so surprised at how they decided to communicate with each other after the accident, and that it lasted as long as it did. This is why I was not surprised how much their relationship changed later when they reunited, most likely as a result of this lack of communication over time. The absentee parents infuriated me, and the effects of the girls’ less than ideal upbringing was so sad. I just couldn’t wrap my mind around how or why parents could be this way, especially as different circumstances arose. The dynamics of their family was pretty fascinating, and I think there is so much about them that could be dissected and discussed - this is a great book for a book club selection. It would also make a fantastic movie! I truly enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading more by this author.

She thought their bond could never be broken…
Heartbreaking, emotional, and definitely unputdownable! Loved the book and looking forward to reading more by this author. I need this to be made into a movie!

Harper and Jodie are twis and dancers. They are inseparable until tragedy hits.
Harper ends up in a hospital and has rehab and a new life to lead. jodie gives her the space she needs but keeps on dancing and her life turns to something that should never have happened. She lost herself when her sister was hurt and she is trying to do better.
I felt bad for both sisters as they are trying to live their lives seperately but yet remain close.
I enjoyed this book and the author's writing. I felt like i needed to be friends with both sisters and to help them.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the book to review.

Twin sisters Harper and Jodie are dancers and they do everything together until a tragic accident changes everything for Harper. Hospitalization and rehab are all she has to look forward to for the foreseeable future and for once in her life she decides to truly go things alone. Reluctantly, Jodie agrees to not have any communication with Harper while she heals and to also continue dancing.

However, things do not go well for Jodie. Finding continued jobs and having a stable place to live is almost her undoing. Her life begins to fall apart at the seams. Meanwhile, Harper comes to grips with knowing she will never walk again and struggles to figure out how she can make life work for her going forward.

What an incredible, touching story to watch what the sisters went through, especially Jodie. In fact, watching her trials was really hard for me to read through in this compelling story by Catherine Miller. Not only do the girls go it alone in their lives, sadly, they both lack support from their free-spirited parents. This is where the book earned four stars from me instead of five despite my strong draw to this powerful story. As a mother and a grandmother, it was hard for me to understand how any parents could be as selfish as Jodie and Harper’s were. As devastated as I was for what Jodie experienced, my frustration towards their parents was nearly my undoing.

What brought these twins back together was heartbreaking, but showed the bonds of sisterly love. Catherine Miller is a strong and powerful author and I look forward to her next book.

Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

I absolutely loved this book!

Catherine Miller always has the capability to make me cry everytime I read her books.

From the first page of this book to the last I was hooked and read this in one sitting.

Jodi and Harper pulled at my heartstrings and you can't help but feel for these girls and what they went through and the strength that they showed all the way through.

Highly recommend

Jodie and Harper are identical in every way, from looks to what they want to do with their lives. Until...
Haper is knocked by a speeding taxi leaving her paralysed and their dream to be dancers is shattered.

While Harper has to go to a rehab facility to recover, gain strength and adjust to her new life she requests that they stop seeing each other for the whole 6 weeks and only have 3 word texts to each other daily as their communication.

Jodie has to continue with their old life alone and has her own adjustment to make.

Alone for the first time in their lives each has to come to terms with their separation and find their identity as a single person now instead of 2 sides of the same coin.

Each shows strenth and perseverance in times of desperation with twintuition ( the strong sense twins share with regards to each other) to guide them.

With nail biting tension, a few scary situations, the feelings of dreadful anticipation were strong! This was such a gripping novel, I adored the relationship Jodie and Harper share and despite separation their bond cannot be broken

BLOG TOUR REVIEW

Review for 'Her Sister's Promise' by Catherine Miller

Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Catherine Miller, Bookouture publishers and Bookouture anonymous

Publication date 9th January 2023. HAPPY PUBLICATION DAY CATHERINE!!

This is the fourth book I have read by this author. I have previously read Catherine's 'The Missing Piece', 'The Crash' and 'The Girl Who Couldn't Leave' which I highly recommend.

I was originally drawn to this book by its gorgeous eye catching cover and its intriguing synopsis and title. The synopsis stated that this book is 'A heartbreaking and gripping emotional read, perfect for fans of unputdownable family dramas, and for those who love reading Jodi Picoult, Liane Moriarty and Diane Chamberlain.' I am a huge fan of all three of those authors so am looking forward to seeing if this lives up to this statement. I am also a huge fan of Catherine and if this is half as good as 'The Missing Piece','The Crash' and' The Girl Who Couldn't Leave' it is sure to be an epic read. I must admit I was also biased due to the publisher being Bookouture. I have yet to read a book published by Bookouture that I haven't enjoyed. Hopefully this won't be the first... Watch this space! (Written before I started reading the book).

This novel consists of a prologue, 49 chapters and an epilogue. The chapters are short to medium in length so possible to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!

This book is based in England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿, UK 🇬🇧. The bonus for me of books that are partly or fully based in the UK is that I live in the UK and have sometimes visited places mentioned in the book which makes it easier to picture. I have actually visited and had holidays in England on several occasions so am looking forward to seeing if I recognise anywhere that Catherine has based the book on.

This book is written in third person perspective and the main protagonists are Jodie Quinlan and Harper Quinlan. The benefits of third person perspective with multiple protagonists are that it let's you see the bigger picture of what's going on and you get to know more characters more, what they are thinking and what they are doing. It feels like you get to see the whole picture and not miss out in anything.

'Her Sister's Promise' discusses some topics that may upset some readers or may not be suitable for others. I like to point this out ahead of time in my reviews so you can judge if this book is for you or not. In this book Catherine discusses drugs, a car accidentand overdosing.

Congratulations Catherine on yet another fantastic page turner!!! An absolute must read with vivid descriptions that set the scene for you. The cover, title and synopsis suit the storyline perfectly.

Grab the tissues and clear your schedules as you will not be able to put this down!!!

I think one of the things I enjoyed most about this storyline is that although it was both heart warming and heart breaking it actually carries an extremely important message on how a single moment and/or decision can change someone's life but
also how we need to look at accessibility more and make the world a more wheelchair/accessible friendly place. I am disabled myself although not in a wheelchair and notice the lack of ramps and spaces more and more lately which is quite shocking in todays day and age. Congratulations Catherine, I don't belive I've ever actually read another book that highlights the problems disabled face daily before especially weaved into such an enjoyable storyline.

The storyline is realistic and filled with love, loss, heartbreak, sisterhood, tears, important messages, fun, tragedies, romance, family and more. I was completely absorbed from the first page until late at night when I could only put it down because I'd finished it. A light hearted full of love and hope page turner with serious messages weaved perfectly into it. It is a gorgeous book and can be read in the sun or curled up next to the fire. I was completely invested in the storyline throughout and on several occasions my heart was in my throat with what was happening. Make sure you read to the end where you will discover Catherine's personal story that was extremely touching. I was also attracted to this book because it is based on the bond twins have and having twins myself I would absolutely love if they grow up as close to each other and as supportive as Harper and Jodie were once they realised the seoeration was a bad idea!! The fact that Catherine is a former physiotherapist absolutely shines through this book when it comes to the physiotherapy sessions. There's not much worse that a book filled with errors that can be easily resolved by research and/or experience. Catherine, you have such an amazing talent of conveying such vital messages and lessons via such amazing storytelling skills that your books leave me thinking about them months after reading them which makes for truly amazing talent. Congratulations Catherine.

This would make an absolutely stunning movie that I would love to watch!!

I was completely invested in the characters and I loved Jodie, Harper and Maceo's characters. They were all larger than life, realistic, strong and very likeable. I really enjoyed watching their friendship and relationship between not only Jodie and Harper change and develop but also Harper's friendship with Maceo. Macro was an amazing friend to Harper throughout and I was gunning for Harper to say yes throughout. Harper and Jodie are very lucky to have such amazing sisters in each other who stand by and support each other every step of the way. I would love to have had a sister half as amazing as they were to each other. It was heartbreaking to see them limit themselves to 3 words and my heart was in my throat on so many occasions. I was extremely surprised by how their lives were turning out as I would have expected Harper to go down a similar path to what happened with Jodie considering what happened to her. My heart absolutely went out to Jodie who went on a downhill spiral after what happened with Harper. It's hard to say too much as I don't want to give anything away to future readers but I'd you want to find out what I mean just click the link below to get your copy today!! Although I loved Harper, Maceo and Jodie. I felt the complete opposite about Jasper, Denna and Antoine and could not stand the using, lying, manipulative twonks!! I must admit there were several moments were both Harper and Jodie needed a stern talking to and their heads banging together with some of the things they both did, said or didn't say or didn't do. It just goes to show what can happen when you lose the person you love most in this world or when you hide the truth from the person you care about. Speaking about caring, their parents are an absolute joke and I was extremely disgusted by them and their lack of support to their children, especially Jodie!! They are two of the most selfish people I have ever met!! A great eclectic mix of characters who worked perfectly for this storyline.

ABSOLUTELY loved this book Catherine and here's to hoping you've started on your next page turner. Watch out JoJo Moyes, Jodi Picoult, Nicholas Sparks and Diane Chamberlain you have some serious competition here!!

Make sure you read to the very end of the book to read the prologue and the first three chapters of Catherine's 'The Day That Changed Everything' which promises to be just as addictive as this book and I cannot wait to get stuck into it!!!

Overall an unputdownable addictive emotional rollercoaster drama with a sprinkle of love, heartbreak, friendship and some serious messages.

Genres covered in this novel include Literary Fiction, British & Irish Contemporary Literature, Psychological Fiction, Women's Literary Fiction, Fiction, Romance and Contemporary Fiction amongst others.

I would recommend this book to the fans of the above as well as fans of JoJo Moyes, Jodi Picoult, Nicholas Sparks, Liane Moriarty, Diane Chamberlain and anyone who loves a good read.

Twins Harper and Jodie are dancers. A tragic accident leaves one of them paralyzed and this is a very gripping story. They were always Two Peas in a Pod. Until the tragic accident changes everything! Sisterly love is everything and I did enjoy the story with these sisters. Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this early release in exchange for my honest review.

Wow, what a fantastic read. Her Sister's Promise shows how twintuition really is spectacular. An accident means Harper won't be able to dance with her twin, Jodie again. Both young women struggle in the aftermath of the accident. They've never been apart for so long before. How will they cope? I was captivated from the beginning and I highly recommend this novel.

Her Sister’s Promise was a book that was both frustrating and at times unbelievable. Jodie and Harper, Harper and Jodie identical twins that have lived their whole lives in tandem. Twenty one years old and ready to start living their dream and promise to each other of a lifetime of dancing together in London productions. Their first show being in the East End of London. Unfortunately, a tragic accident ends with Harper being severely injured and a T12 paraplegic. Harper broken and in pain headed for six weeks of rehabilitation decides that both her and her sister need a break from each other to focus on recovery and continue the dream of dancing. This is when the story becomes frustrating the twins agree to speak in text using only three words or emojis each day. Being twins this severely cuts the bond they have shared all theirs lives. Harper thinks it’s a good idea but it leaves Jodie with no support system and completely on her own. Jodie struggles through out the story making one bad life choice after another just trying to keep her head above water. The girls’ parents are also self absorbed and don’t see or feel the need to support either of their children creating a greater divide. Overall, this story concept started out interesting but the story lacked depth and character development.

I was a little frustrated with the parents & the relationship of the twins whilst Harper was recovering etc. It was a little unbelievable to me that the situations would be handled as they were! Overall though it was an ok read!
