Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this arc.
If you need a quick fun whodunnit this is it! I loved the whole concept of this book and getting to be with Pip and the gang again. It leads up perfectly for AGGGTM. Since it was first published between the second and first book I felt like Pip was more of the book three version of herself compared to how she was in book one. If you read the series you’ll understand what I mean. I loved book 1 Pip not who she became in the third book. To me there wasn’t anything wrong with this book except Pip didn’t feel like her fun loving self who was a curious teenager like in book one. I kept feeling like she was hiding something….. which more is a foreshadowing of book 3 then book 1. I even told my self “Pip who are, this isn’t you.” Over all it’s good edition if you loved this series!

Overall a fun novella with Pip and the gang. Not as good as the full length stories and didn’t give the same vibe. Was still nice to see where Pip got the idea for her project.

Thanks to NetGalley for this e-ARC in exchange for my honest review.
The was a cute and short prequel to the Good Girl’s Guide to Murder series. It was light and frothy but a nice way to revisit some of the characters before the events that would irrevocably change their lives.

3.5🌟 killjoy is a prequel novella to the a good girls guide to murder series. this features pip and her friends at a murder mystery birthday party. pip is definitely not in the mood to get dressed up and play detective, but as the night goes on, we get to witness pip finding joy in the process and getting super into the game.
this was a fun way to venture back into this universe with characters we know and love. it’s an interesting phenomenon to revisit this town before everything got flipped upside down in the aftermath of pip’s investigations into the andie bell case. we get little easter eggs hinting at characters we are going to meet and things that happen later in the timeline, which is a super fun touch. I liked that we got to experience the moments when pip realizes that sleuthing and crime solving is something that she actually could be interested in. it's only about 200 pages and also a super short audiobook.
this is definitely not necessary to read to close or start out the series, but if you already liked the series and want to revisit this world, it is a quick fun read.

Thank you Netgalley and the publishing house for allowing me to read and enjoy this book.
I can't even tell you how excited I was to receive this. My favorite series is the GGGTM trilogy so this just fueled my love for those book even further. Getting more information about Pip wasn't needed but I'm so glad it was included. If not receiving this as an e-arc I would of bought it and I still might so I can complete the set. I also love how the cover matches the others! 5 stars obviously.

This was such a fun novella and a perfect addition to the A Good Girls Guide To Murder series. It even has a little bit of foreshadowing if read first or it serves as a nice palette cleanser after you’ve finished the trilogy as I have.
A 1920s murder mystery party is taking place at Connors house and everyone is given a character. Pop is assigned to Celia. The party is really reminiscent of the movie Clue with Tim Curry (which I LOVE) but Pip is taking it so, so seriously.
Clues are slowly revealed to the reader as they’re revealed to Pip and it’s really fun to guess along with her!
5 stars!

Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Childrens for the E-ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Prior to investigating her town’s real-life murder, Pip Fitz-Amobi reluctantly investigated a fictional murder at her friend’s murder mystery party. Six friends gather, dressed in 1920s garb, and begin to unravel the clues that will lead them to the identity of the murderer. Pip is drawn into the world of mystery and murder, and now the game isn’t the only case on her mind.
This “A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder” novella acts as a prequel to the AGGGTM series, and was a fun read that foreshadowed some of the events to come in the primary trilogy of books. I enjoyed seeing the beginning of Pip’s “detective mode” personality, along with her relationships with her friends whom we see featured throughout the series. I’ve never participated in a murder mystery game, and I enjoyed experiencing it through the characters in this novella!
Thank you to Delacorte Press and NetGalley for my gifted e-book!

Holly Jackson is one of the best mystery writers for teens currently. Her plotting is tight. Her characters are well-developed. Her voice is unique. I highly recommend this prequel to her series "A Good Girl's Guide to Murder'.

This was a cute fast read with our favorite heroine Pip solving another mystery but luckily something a little lighter; a murder mystery dinner party! This was not my favorite story from A Good Girl's Guide to Murder series, but a cute story nonetheless!

This was a fun little novella which is a prequel to the other books in the series. We get a bit of insight to Pip and her love of figuring out the mystery and true crime/cold cases.

This is such a fun read! I have been to a murder mystery dinner before and they are so neat. I love getting a bit more on Pip. I enjoyed her most in book one and this reminds me of that! Such a quick and easy read!

I’ve devoured all of the other books by Holly Jackson. I did like this one, but maybe because it happens before the other books, I found myself wanting the characters as they have grown, not how they were!

Another great read from the GGGTM series, I enjoyed getting to be with Pip again for a fun murderous dinner party.
Getting to see Pips mind work prior to the series was fun to read and glimpse into her thinking and solving skills.
A more light hearted YA mystery for readers who are looking for a lighter version of the series since the bulk of the three book series is a bit more darker.

I read this without reading the other books by Holly Jackson. Now I am hooked and will pick up the rest of the series.
This novella is a prelude to the series and is an account of a murder mystery dinner. A fast paced read and a glimpse of Pip's mind at work. I loved it!
Thank you NetGalley and Delacorte Press for gibing me the opportunity to read this!

My students will thoroughly enjoy this novella that gives more insight into Pippa's life. I have readers who will devour everything that Holly Jackson writes, and this will be no different!

I absolutely loved this book. I read this series a few months ago, and I haven’t stopped thinking about it since! This book was everything that I was hoping for: the characters we all know and love, a murder plot, humor, friendship, and everything in between. I am very sad to see this series come to a close, but I will definitely have to do a re-read soon! Having read the whole series, I do think that this one should be read before the others to get the full experience. 5/5 ⭐️

Pippa has been invited to a murder mystery party. This one is 20’s themed and everyone has dressed the part. At first Pip thinks this will be some good fun and games but in the end she actually becomes quite competitive. This seems to be the spark that ignites her to peruse the Andie Bell murder case for her senior project. We get to see her detective personality grow throughout. It felt like reading about a game of Clue.
Since this is a prequel to the whole series, you can read it even if you haven’t read any of the other books. I thought it was a cute little introduction to what’s to come in the series and also to the author’s writing style. It was a quick read but not entirely necessary as the story doesn’t really pertain to the rest of the series except the mention of the Andie Bell case. It was not my favorite because it seemed like an add-on that didn’t have much of a point. I am still looking forward to reading the rest of the series though. The reason I did like it is because I am actually going to my first murder mystery party in April so this was perfect timing, It gave me a bit of insight of what I will be in for. Thank you Netgalley and Random House for the gifted eARC in exchange for my honest review.

This is a fun little novella in addition to the good girl's guide to murder series! There were a few moments where I got nervous together with Pip during their mystery game. I would definitely recommend if you liked the series already! Love this cover btw :)

Thank you to NetGalley for providing an eARC of this book!
(3.5) This was a fun, short novella for fans of AGGGTM series. I will say, if the original book is a retelling of the Serial podcast, this book is a 1920s/2017s version of Knives Out. Following the characters that we know as Pip’s friends, they all spend an evening in character at a murder mystery party. It was a little far-fetched how in character some of them were throughout the night (I think that teens would be asking for their phones back much sooner) but it worked for just a fun, short murder mystery! I also appreciated how the ending tied together to the beginning of AGGGTM.

I LOVED Pip and A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder series- so I was stoked when Kill Joy came out! While this novella lacked some of the "meat" the series had it was still a fantastic and fun read.
